First we dance:
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRPGtnWy5RE
A little bit ago we talked about community.
Which all started me thinking (cue collective groan) about our community. Which all started me wondering: who are you people?!
What do you do when you’re not hanging out up in herre? Do you work? Volunteer? What’s your passion? Are your hobbies?
The other day I was looking to buy a hula hoop (oooh, foreshadowing) & it occurred to me that not only might one of *you* sell them, but that Id imagine *any* need we have mightcould be filled by a member of the Bumbling Band (as was my hoop need. please to watch for upcoming post).
So today’s the day, People. It’s time to out yerselves.
Who are you? What do you do? And why do you wanna work yer core?
Please to hit us all up in the comments.

For fun, I enjoy reading (LOVE my Amazon Kindle), working Sudoku & crossword puzzles, doing volunteer work (mostly Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest), and hanging out with friends. I really only have one hobby and that’s needlework. I love to do both cross stitch and needlepoint. It’s what keeps me sane when I start stressing out, which is all too often unfortunately. Of course, I always make sure to fit in time for blogging, tweeting, and checking in with my peeps on Facebook.

Currently quilting and rug hooking are my passions. Love cooking (and eating) and having fun learning to make the BEST healthy food. Working out is becoming a passion, and of course blogging. I love to work my core because I’m an office geek, which means I spend entirely too much time sitting on my bum. This also means I slouch. Got a great post today about eating primal for breakfast- per your permission, I’d love to link to it!
Thanks as always, for the inspiration.

A dvd with rhythm and dance?
Now thats something id like a chance!
A poet I am not… I am, however, a singer (classical/opera), teacher, supporter of the arts and animal rights, new vegetarian leaning into a vegan lifestyle, twin of the best sister EVER, avid reader, new blogger, piano player, all around music lover
I have become consistent with eating, cardio and in the next few weeks, strength (body pump class- here I come!).. but am lacking in a core workout. I love dance exercise dvds and would love to check this out! I secretly want to be a flamenco dancer.. LOVE IT!

February 3, 2009 at 9:40 amI live on the east coast of Canada, and am a chemical engineer. I have a LOT of hobbies, but my passion is football. I play on a tackle football team, I’m one of the executives of our league, and I’m a coach for a kids’ team, and that’s all aside from watching it on TV, attending high school and university games and reading about it.
Core is essential in football to provide power (when doing the hitting) and to protect your back (when getting hit), so:
While I would love to firm my tummy,
And all of my wobbly bits,
But mostly I strengthen my core,
So I can give and take big hits.

February 3, 2009 at 10:33 amAlthough I totally need to work my core, the fact of the matter is that if it involves a DVD, I will do it once and that will be about it. So the freebie should certainly go to someone who might use it.
I am a professor of economics at a small college. Which is a GREAT job in most ways. I coach a highly successful academic team for the Fed Challenge competition, and I’m very proud of this. I am trying to help my husband, whom I adore, to get healthy again, and I have a 14 year old boy who is a truly great kid. I’m very active in the School Site council although California has taken money away from our schools so I’m on a new bandwagon trying to figure out how we can keep kids on track with less money to spend. UGH. I’m a runner mostly because my coordination sucks and I have failed miserably at soccer, tennis and other sports and I Love that I can go run with my friends when I want or run alone when I want. I started running January 5th 2008 and finished my first marathon December7th 2008.
I raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and last year I walked 65 miles to raise awareness for my 4th and 5th walks with them in SF and Long Beach. I am only walking in SF this year but it will bring my total to over $13,800 raised in 6 years and nearly 200 miles in organized walks. We do a lot of dancing on those walks too and some new moves would be spiffy to try out there to keep us all “jazzed” during 26.2 miles through those SF hills on Saturday July11th.

Today I’m walking without assistance, threw out all my pills except my synthroid, and take vitamin supplements instead of prescription meds. My lupus is in remission, and my health is as good as it was (or better) than 30 years ago.
On weekends the girls and I do various environmental service projects around the state (things like planting cottenwood trees along rivers in crisis, restoring water flow with erosion reducing plants and rocks, and working on clean ups in various green spaces) We also spend a lot of time at zoos, aquariums, museums, and cultural events.

I LOVE my job, but in my spare time I do alot of scrapbooking, reading (I’m a homebody!) and doing stuff with my Mom and sisters, we’re a pretty tight bunch. I also write, and am hopeful that my name will be on a book cover towards the end of 2009!

February 4, 2009 at 9:39 amMy flabby — it’s shrinking
around my core
Aerobics — it works
but I need crunches MORE.
There’s a layer up top
and a big pooch below
where 2 babies spent
a long time in to grow.
And now that they’re out,
(it’s been more than a year!)
It’s time to firm up–
make that fat disappear!
So I ask you, above
the prize gods or fate
to name “me” the winner
that would really be great!

February 4, 2009 at 5:10 pmI’m a hat wearin’ gal. Yellow is generally my color (hence my nickname as Yellow Hat Runner at a few places). I don’t get paid for my work as a mother or a writer (yet), but those are my primary tasks. I blog a few times/week, write for a local paper once and awhile, and try my best to keep our family running smoothly in a reasonably (not perfectly) clean house. Core strength is what keeps my running strong – I’d be lost without it, for it is the running that keeps me SANE(ish)!! But, I think you already knew these things about. me . . .
I adore all things MizFit and though I don’t comment as regularly as I once did – I’m happy to lurk and am pleased to see that you’re keepin’ on keepin’ on!

February 4, 2009 at 11:25 pm#whoamI … oh wait. Not twitter. Readjust, blog comment… go:
I’m an underemployed, recent (relatively) college grad addicted to Twitter and lookin for a sugar daddy like Lainie’s got. In the meantime I’m working at a YMCA, writing a newspaper column, and blogging. Who am I though? Ah the timeless question to struggle with. I’m hopefully a good person who cares about others and leaves them better than she found them.

February 5, 2009 at 8:41 amLate with the answers. What do I do? What are my “skillz”?
I write about crafts and do them to.
I organize conferences for geeky girls.
I garden -in a lazy organic kind of way.
I remember things about people and connect them. (so I contacted this guy who edits a magazine for fire fighters after Hurricane Katrina about a Al. county that lost all it’s equipment. He wrote; and a department in NJ resupplied the entire house… uniforms, equipment and a truck!)

My Diploma says Computer Programmer/Analyst. These days, we Programmers are generally referred to as ‘Developers’ – at least in my neck of the woods. More specifically, I am a Java Developer, as that is the language I have been working with for the past…going on 9 years. Wow. Time flies.
I sit hunched over a computer all day; core workouts are good for my posture!

February 7, 2009 at 9:40 amDescribing who I am would be too hard for me..but I can tell you what I do/have done. Past: cosmetologist (short time–hated that ‘career’), school teacher (kindergarten–love kids but don’t like managing them unless they are my own), senior bank teller (booooring…instead of serving burgers I served cash), accountant–again too boring…in between those jobs always a full time homemaker and mom until the kids flew the coop…my favorite job of them all?–full time homemaker…love, love, love it…talk about total freedom!! perhaps if I’d found a job I loved and paid heap big cash home maker might possibly take 2nd place.
I too suffered way too long from false guilt…that comes from the enemy of our souls whose desire is to destroy us…versus the lover of our souls–Yahweh–whose desire and the reason he came to earth as God the Son is to give us abundant joy.
When I’m truly guilty, then I confess it to my Father and right the wrong. As for false guilt–I tell the enemy of my soul to get lost and move on.
Once I finally admitted that I am not perfect nor does God expect perfection from me I was free to be *me*. My mission in life is to glorify God. All too often I fall short. But God knows my frame and loves me anyway.
