Subtitle: I told you this post was too long!
Hi Miz, I’m a newish reader and had two quick questions I was hoping you would answer: have you ever been overweight and what are some short, easy fitness tips? I want to get lean and got a little overwhelmed by all the information in Tuesday’s post. Thanks.
Judging by the comments/emails/tweets I received this person wasnt alone either.
(perhaps that’s why this guy frequently encourages bloggers to do series posts?)
Today? The short version (**cue mass applause**).
My three step process for getting & staying lean (I shed 40lbs of fluff & have maintained this loss for 16+ years):
Step two:
Step three:
My 3-step Get Lean program:
- Set yourself up for success with yer groceries.
- Resistance training/cardio.
- Eat aforementioned success-foods.
Short, concise, & straighttothepoint.
Who knew I had it in me?
(This post is neither sponsored by nor endorsed by AllWhites®. There is, in fact, a rather large chance the entire company is mildly horrified at my BlogPostOfLove. You’ll have that…)

Great post as I would actually do that with my groceries 🙂

May 14, 2010 at 3:54 amHow could they not love that you made this video?
Questions:
Do you really eat them?
How do you use them except scrambled?
Why do you not separate the whites from the eggs instead?
Will you come to the grocery with me and workout in the parkinglot?LOL

May 14, 2010 at 4:51 amDo you really eat them?
YESYESYES
How do you use them except scrambled?
IN EVERYTHING FROM MY SMOOTHIES TO POURED INTO OATS TO DUMPED INTO MY SMOOTHIES
Why do you not separate the whites from the eggs instead?
I LOVE THESE ARE PASTEURIZED SO I DONT NEED TO FRET ABOUT SALMONELLA. IT REALLY IS THAT FACT FAR MORE THAN THE EASE OF NOT HAVING TO SEPARATE THE WHITES FROM THE EGGS.
Will you come to the grocery with me and workout in the parkinglot?LOL
YES.
After much research….they are not available in Canada!
I see a 70K drive for groceries soon! URGH!!
ONE WORD: EGGBEATERS
CAN YOU GET THOSE THERE?

May 14, 2010 at 5:41 amAhahaha I’m eating egg whites right now for breakfast! I love cartons of egg whites (with the ONLY ingredient as egg whites). I’ve never seen the brand All Whites in the store before; I use Simply Egg Whites or Vanderpol’s Egg Whites.
Thanks for the quick workout!

Thanks for the tips.

May 14, 2010 at 5:48 amThat’s way too short! How do you expect to fill a series of books and DVDs with that?
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says
May 14, 2010 at 5:58 amI always manually separate the egg whites from the yolk. This seems cheaper since there’s nothing you’re throwing out. Besides, a workout with regular eggs can get *really* messy.

May 14, 2010 at 6:16 amhaha- I bet the company is thrilled 🙂 And look at you all adorable if your workout skort and tank. Hope you have a great weekend MF!

May 14, 2010 at 6:32 amI doubt all whites is even mildly disturbed. I’m sure that anyone would be dazzled. Especially in your parking lot! Uh-mazing!

May 14, 2010 at 6:38 amLove the post! I think perhaps I’ll do the same “egg-white” exercises with my Chambers Dictionary of Science and Technology sitting here on my desk today. BTW I love the tattoos!

May 14, 2010 at 6:41 amLove your post today, I have lots of those eggwhites in my frigde, gonna have a cup of them in my Met/RX shake in a minute!

May 14, 2010 at 6:49 am@Tracy: I’ve compared the cost, and where I live it is less expensive to separate whole eggs and throw out the yolks. If you intend to consume them raw (**shudder**), the fact that AllWhites are pasteurized should be considered.
Having said that, this is one of those areas where I just can’t follow the traditional fitness advice. I don’t LIKE egg whites. I eat whole eggs. Then again, my goal is not necessarily to get as lean as MizFit here. My goal is to get really strong. I have just started competing in powerlifting, and I’m doing very well so far. 🙂
Life is short. I’ll eat what I enjoy, but in moderation so that I have a longer life to enjoy it.
Miz says
May 14, 2010 at 6:59 amHi Anne! Love seeing you back.
Im 100% with you on all of it.
While I dont consume my All Whites raw Im renown for being in a hurry in the mornings when Im making my pancakes or waffles or simply scrambling.
to me it is so nice to know I dont have to obsess about overcooking in an effort to steer clear of the salmonella.
I also agree with you about the eating what you enjoy.
If I dont like it IM NOT CONSUMING IT.
Life is too short.
The one concession I make in the arena of fitness to doing what I DO NOT LOVE is *cardio*
I love that your goal is to be strong.
I think it should be all of our goals.
Mentally and physically.

May 14, 2010 at 7:13 amI use both all whites and regular eggs. The allwhites are stirred in my oatmeal or maybe added to a smoothie. But if I’m cooking eggs, I’m cooking Omega3 eggs and eating the yolk.
It’s a good fat. But I skip the toast that many have with them. Don’t need the simple carbs.
Loved the video. Actually just love that you improvise equipment to well for exercises.

May 14, 2010 at 7:19 amIf you don’t get a case of these free, there’s something wrong with the Eggwhite people. I mean, have they seen how much you Tweet about ’em?
Great minds… I posted a breakfast recipe today using egg substitute. Funny thing, when I posted it I thought Miz would probably make/eat this if it wasn’t for the ham.
MizFit says: for some reason I dont love me the ham. I should since its uber salty and all—but it has nothing to do with the fact Im Jewish. I love the bacon 🙂 shhhhh!
I’m still pondering the resistance thing trying to figure out what I need to do to fit in. May have to email you…

May 14, 2010 at 7:41 amLOL at the video. Allwhites is going to sponsor you yet – I see it coming!
I love both whole eggs and egg whites. Custard oats rock!
And Scrambled (with hot sauce, anyone??)

May 14, 2010 at 7:45 am…and if you can’t be with the weights you use, honey, use the all-whites you’re with…use the all-whites you’re with.
ok..hopefully you know the song anyway.
I don’t know why, but I’ve resisted moving away from whole eggs to egg whites just because eggs are really pretty good for you and the yolks have now been shown to actually be a great regulator for cholesterol.
What should I really be considering though, to make the switch?
Kimberley says
May 14, 2010 at 8:08 amI use Egg Beaters and whole eggs. I am a big fan of the egg!
I loved this post and the 1-2-3 approach to getting lean. It really is that simple.
MizFit says
May 14, 2010 at 8:20 amWhat should I really be considering though, to make the switch?
I do both. On weekend mornings when live is sloooower I scramble a few eggs (whole) and pour in a smattering of whites for extra protein.
For me it really is about the ease & pasteurizing.
I love to pour some in my oatmeal as I make it as well.

May 14, 2010 at 8:32 amWhy does All Whites remind me of laundry detergent? Today was supposed to be my *off* day but after watching your video, I now want to lift some weights…

May 14, 2010 at 12:15 pmThe how is not that hard, the doing it – that is what is hard for so many folks out there. BUT, just do it as they say. The more you do it, the better you will feel & then, one day you will say, crap, why didn’t I start this sooner!
Thx Miz! Love the video, egg whites & the cooking of them! 🙂

May 14, 2010 at 2:34 pmQuestion…(s)
How many times reps? sets?
Can being so quick still be of benefit?
Mary Meps says
May 14, 2010 at 3:44 pmI use the egg whites. 😀 I think a protein brekkie does help the day. I can usually go to noon or later before I start to feel hungry again. That’s staying power.
I’m lazier than you though. I put a quarter cup in a bowl and microwave for one minute. Perfect shape to top my toast and slice of soy cheese.
Nikki says
May 14, 2010 at 5:17 pmOK…I threw 2 egg whites in my fruit smoothy for lunch and it’s… smooth! I can’t even tell that they are there…hopefully this ‘smooth move’ will be beneficial!!
Thanks

May 14, 2010 at 9:18 pmI wish I could like eggs. So many times I’ve tried. I thought MAYBE I could hang with the whites because I thought I really just hated the taste of the yolks but it’s the texture too. Gotta stick with my protein bars…
Now the workout, I can hang with that… 🙂 You rock!

May 15, 2010 at 12:42 pmThis was very funny and I haven’t even watched the video yet. I use All Whites and I buy eggs and separate them. I can’t figure out which is cheaper.
