Im gonna lead off with the freebie this week because I am THAT impressed with the company and with their customer service.
That’s right, People, You Bars not only apologized for how long my bars took to arrive, then gave us a discount, they also donated a free box this week.
(If you havent heard me yammer about how great they are you can look here) A chance to win the box can be yours for the low low price of a comment below.
This first link may nor may not be something which applies to you——but it does to the MizFit.
The busier my life gets the more I begin to realize that everything in my world needs to be prioritized (and not just exercise/being healthy).
I dont have leisure time like I used to (flying to & fro chicago to train The Great And Mighty O can do that to a gurl. No. Wait. thats Bob Greene not me.) so this article really struck a chord with me.
Why are hobbies like dating and *so* hard to break up with? I guess it’s a mixture of nostalgia and admitting defeat for me (hello, competitive natural bodybuilder!).
You?
Since this seems to be the week of the push up I couldnt pass up this link.
There is *far* more here about push ups than you’ll ever need to know (& it’s not frequently updated so perhaps that was all the site owner knew?) and it’s a really good resource.
As is this article by none other than the amazingfabulous Fitness Fixation (I kind of want to be her. She’s a writing machine, word is she’s a great trainer and has some bad ass tattoos to boot).
All push up’d out?
Check out these. Ala the resume tee from last week—-and just that much more, well, odd.
I dont think that we can get em here in the states yet so Diet Girl shall have to be our Woman On The Lookout to see if people *really* are wearing them.
I love that they come in a three pack. One for home#, one for cell, and then?? (oooh, there’s your enter-to-win comment below. what IS the last one for?)
That’s about it for the week. Happy Passover to our Jewish MizFits.
This one’s for you.

April 18, 2008 at 3:58 amOne for home #, one for cell #, one for email? I dunno, but I certainly don’t have the, um, courage to wear those.
Or wait! are they really meant for the event that you lose them? Then you can be tracked down and your G-string safely returned!

Wow…impressed you got YouBars to donate! Hope you are enjoying them…they are a neat idea.
Hoping the tornado is calm today!

April 18, 2008 at 6:50 amThose You Bars are a cool idea, especially if one isn’t inclined to make one’s own energy/protein bars.
I’m totally with you on prioritizing. I was just thinking yesterday how many vanity-related things I used to worry about that I don’t any more, only to conclude that when you’ve got enough real tasks to keep you busy (job, housework, fitness, other hobbies) you just don’t have time to fret about whether your blouse is the most fashionable shade of pink and if your lipstick matches it.
The Bag Lady says
April 18, 2008 at 6:54 amBunnygirl, you always have such a terrific way of expressing how the Bag Lady is feeling! The Bag Lady stopped worrying about whether she’s fashionably dressed a few years ago when she couldn’t find a coat to match the green rubber boots she wears to do the chores… She finally decided the cows really don’t give a flyin’ f***!

April 18, 2008 at 8:05 amTo return a *lost* g string?
Hmmmmm.
Does that apply if it’s, errr, lost in the arsecrack?
Yep.
I said it (not a fan but thats a post for another day).
And I’m with Bunny and BL.
Although NOT TRENDY is now my trendy 😉
OUTDATED IS THE NEW BLACK if you will.

So people now who to call to get the same bod..
or, if you’re in an accident he/she knows you’re probably missing your next workout.

April 18, 2008 at 8:56 amHobbies are hard to give up – but I gave up organized sports a few years ago and it really set me free in a lot of ways. There really is something to be said for prioritizing.
The G-strings scare me a little, but I ordered some YouBars – I haven’t received them yet but I believe I got an email they shipped. More would be better 🙂
Oh, and I’m planning on doing random sets of pushups (I already do “boy” pushups, woohoo!) in my office working up to 1000 in a day!
Angie says
April 18, 2008 at 9:00 amSeriously….can you imagine how many freaks might be calling you if you wear these to a bar! YIKES!!
Did I mention I did 84 push ups the other day…a combo of workouts..and today..yes today I am still sore! Push ups rock, but not 84 in one day…
I am so trying to prioritize too..just finding the time to do it is what is troubling… 🙂

April 18, 2008 at 9:24 amOne for home #, one for cell # and one for PERVERTS ANONYMOUS for the weirdo that would actually dial up the number. Crreeeeeeppy.
Love. Love. Love your site. I start every morning with you and Roni @ WeightWatchen.
I tried the You Bar site and was overwhelmed with all the choices. I’d had no clue what would make a great tasting bar. I crossed my fingers and picked all my favorites. I’ll have to let you know how Kellie’s Island Surprise Bars turns out.

You Bar, how awesome!! Never heard of it until this site. I came to your sight by way of Leslie at weightingame. Great blog.

April 18, 2008 at 9:57 amGiven that I tend to not buy new underwear until the elastic band at the top is completely shredded, I’d probably be safe to wear those things at a bar because no one could read my number.
But the idea of a Crab in thong underwear is too hilarious to even contemplate. Ain’t gonna happen!
Great links!

Meribeth says
April 18, 2008 at 10:32 amI am buying a pair of those G-strings with the number of someone I really dislike.
Does that other read 1000 pushups a day? Pfft. I did about 75 on Sunday and my chest hurt for 2 days.

April 18, 2008 at 10:41 amI have to admit to having had a really juvenile thought — put the phone number of that girl (I’m sure we all used to know one!) who claimed to be a friend but really wasn’t and thought she was God’s gift to men….
I need to check out the push up site as soon as the kiddos are napping. I’m up to 20 “real” pushups at a time now — a huge improvement for me!

All of that info on push-ups is super useful. And I enjoyed the article on de-cluttering- how do we accumulate so much STUFF over the years?!

April 18, 2008 at 11:19 amYou Bars? How about ME Bars? Huh? Whaddaya say?
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
The number on the thong lends it an oh-so-klassy prison-issue serial number vibe — to me, anyway.
I love this site – just found you and am addicted.

April 18, 2008 at 11:33 amI have to confess I hadn’t heard about You bars until I came to this blog. You are educating the masses, Ms. Mizfit!
Happy Passover to those who celebrate it, and also a happy Eastern Orthodox Easter to those who celebrate right alongside Passover (which makes sense to me, I still don’t see why we had to celebrate Easter so early)

April 18, 2008 at 12:11 pmRe the YouBars, I have both pros and cons:
1. The negatives:
a. I was surprised by how small they were.
b. I thought the wrapper would have my designated name on it, but it was just a very small sticker attached.
c. My bars tasted really yucky, at first, but after I thought about it a while, they actually weren’t too bad … kind of like a not-very-sweet brownie. Of course, that had to do with my choice of ingredients, so other combinations would taste better.
2. The positives:
a. The service was unbelievably good. I ordered on Saturday, got an email from the president of the company on Sunday night, got an email from the Postal Service Monday saying that they had been instructed to pick up the package, and I received the bars Thursday. Incredible!!!
b. The bars had complete ingredient and nutrition information, making it easy to compare with other products.
c. Since I can specify the ingredients, I can make changes to iprove the flavor, while aiming for good levels of fiber and other stuff.
Bottom line: I love it. I will reorder again, but I will try to find the right balance between flavor and good nutrition.
I’d would give them a grade of A. No, they were better than that: A+. Just remember that you’re going to get small expensive bars, and you may have to try a couple times to get the right taste.
Be bold. Order them!

April 18, 2008 at 3:31 pmClearly the third one is for your email, AIM screen name, or – and I’m voting for this one – your MySpace ID. Because I am SO betting that if you’re wearing these, you probably HAVE a MySpace ID. (Okay, yeah, I do, so? I have to keep an eye on my teenager, okay? 🙂 )
Though mine would all say things like, “You Freak” and “I’m Old Enough to Be Your MOTHER” and “Whatever You Lost, It’s Not In Here” cause I’m a smartass like that.
(Ha. Get it? Smart ASS? Heh.)
Nuff wierdness from me now. Have a great weekend!

You Bars, now those appeal to me! 🙂

April 19, 2008 at 1:16 pmWell, it is funny you posted so much about the push up because it is my goal to be able to do 20 REAL push ups…this may not sound like such a feat except I’ve had an injury that has kept me from being able to do any….so I will be so excited when I can do one, let alone 20…
As for You Bars….would love to try them…do they REALLY taste that good? I’m always so nervous about spending moolah on something I’m not sure I’ll use or like…..Okay, off to do some modified ball push ups then my dear friend cardio. HUGS and thanks for the fun links.

April 19, 2008 at 3:58 pmI’ve looked at YouBars, but couldn’t figure out which flavor was “me”. Right now I’m into Chocolite protein bars. They’re not as high in protein as most protein bars, but they aren’t loaded with calories either!

I’m totally kidding. Absolutely *not* a g-string wearer and I think the idea of putting your phone number on the tail is messed up.
