I love food! That’s the thing…I could eat anything at anytime!
BUT—-obviously that won’t work when you are trying to stay fit!
I used to hate planning meals. It’s so tedious and time consuming and I would rather be doing something else, but I would do it! Now, since I came across the best cookbook EVER, I love planning my meals! The BEST thing about this cookbook is that it is so easy to pick out what foods I need to eat and when is the best time to eat them. I am a carb sensitive person. I have to plan my starchy carb meals around my workouts or early morning meals or I look like and feel like a puffy balloon!
With Gourmet Nutrition 2.0 all the recipes are divided into Anytime Meals and Post Workout Meals. How perfect is THAT! I just go through, and depending on if I worked out that day, I pick out meals and DONE! The snack ideas are so yummy and filling, too!
Here is my all time favorite breakfast and lunch recipes (made to suit my taste):
Texas Thin Crust Pizza (Anytime Meal)
3 oz lean ground turkey
1/4 cup red pepper (diced)
1/4 cup tomato (diced)
1/2 whole wheat tortilla
1/4 cup feta cheese
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Brown lean ground turkey and season. Add peppers and tomato an d saute’. Lay tortilla on baking sheet and spread turkey and vegetable mixture evenly on the tortilla. Top with feta cheese and bake until cheese is melted (about 10 minutes).
Sunrise Sundae with French Toast Hash Browns (Post Workout Meal)
Sundae
1/4 cup apple (diced)
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese
1/4 cup pear (diced)
1/8 cup fat free plain yogurt
1/4 cup strawberries (sliced)
1/4 cup almonds/walnuts (crushed)
French Toast
1 slice 4:9 Eziekel bread
1 egg
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Olive oil
Sundae – Place all ingredients in bowl and stir.
French Toast – Cut bread into cubes. Whisk egg, cinnamon and salt and add bread. Let soak 30 seconds. Add olive oil to pan and add bread and egg mixture. Top Sundae with French Toast or add on the side!

Those sound delish, and I’m definitely going to have to order the cookbook. Knowing what to eat post-workout is one of the hardest things for me!

The Sundae sounds intriguing–I’ve never liked yogurt but I know it’s good for you. This just might get me to actually eat it!

Thanks for these recipes! I’ve been wanting that cookbook for months now. I’m going to have to make that move soon. My old Atkins-era cookbooks and favorite recipes are quite out of step with the way I eat now.

The book looks like a winner except for folks like me who can’t do dairy. There just aren’t good substitutes for cottage cheese and yogurt. (yes, there is soy yogurt, but at $2/3-4 oz., it is not a good substitute) and a dairy product was mentioned in each of the sample pages.
Sigh.
Hi Debra,
I am lactose intolerant and am able to tolerate yogurt and cottage cheese, but thats about it. I use soy milk and feta cheese in place of regular milk and any cheese, if this would be of any help.. 😉

What an interesting idea for a sundae! That book looks so beautiful. And it even has all the nutrition info for each dish! I love when cookbooks have that feature.
I really need to stop checking on blogs while I’m at work as they just make me hungry. That or maybe I should install a stove here so that I can make some french toast in between answering phone calls…:)

I am sorry to say this, but I have the cookbook. It is expensive, there are lots of typos and the food is generally kind of bland. I have made lots of recipes, including the pizza she included, which was fine, but it isn’t really worth them money.

The pizza sounds great!
Chia report: The Bag Lady ate a spoonful of chia and it did not turn to a horrible gelatinous mass in her mouth. It really just tasted green, if that makes any sense!
She also put a couple spoonsful in her spaghetti sauce last night. Worked very well.
She also found some Laughing Cow cheese at Costco (it was a red-letter shopping day!) and it is delicious! Thanks, Mizfit, for these additions to the Bag Lady’s menu!
