This week’s random stagger around the place we call the internet kicks off at a FAVE shop of mine. This store has been thisclose to being chosen for many of my birthday gifts (to others. to myself I think we’ve made it quite clear that I head to Zappos.).
Ive so far resisted as methinks I might love the randomness of it all far more than my friends & family.
Speaking of old & absentminded, I dont recall seeing this posted on every fitness blog on the web (if Im wrong feel free to tell me—-just do so gently avoiding such words as FORGETFUL & no longer spring chicken. thank you). I found some sites listed there which I hadnt heard of before as well.
Missicat? If youre reading today THIS LINK is for you. Ive had far too many dog linkloves and you must get this for your cats! I think we (the royal. you know Id be compelled to share) can live without knowing what my bullmastiff does all day…
Veering wildly back toward the kitchen, this site is new to me. You? Ive seen the concept before (of finding recipes using what you already have in the kitchen) but the easy navigation of this one in particular I really liked. (Please to note that CHEETOS is not a recognized ingredient.)
Making a mad dash back to the office or computer room is this site. it’s not as much of a timesuck as was the typing racer (thank goodness. for me anyway.) but I did spend a good while playing around with what mightcould be the MizFit font. Enjoy!
This next one is something I need and, perhaps, some of you as well? I love my Renaissance Man. My Renaissance Man loveth the Batman. I, by default, shall love the Batman this weekend, too.
BEFORE I do, however, Im gonna thoroughly check out this post. I may be late to the Batlove but I shall make up for it in knowledge.
And, LinkLasty, some of you newbies might not recall a delectable treat whose recipe MizFit forced upon you in a fit of insanity generously shared: the muffin in a minute.
Not surprisingly both the Renaissance Man and the Toddler turn their noses up at the very sight of it.
CHOCOLATE CAKE IN FIVE MINUTES? Im quite confident that, even though it, too, resides in a mug, they both shall completely adore.
Happy weekend. Remember: life is too short not to stop, smell the proverbial roses and eat a cake muffin or two.
EDITED TO SAY: a number of you have emailed and asked me about the emotional eating video (I know. I need to better label things. most days it’s that or shower and I select the latter.): voila.
Crabby McSlacker says
July 25, 2008 at 4:21 amGotta say, the chocolate cake in a cup looks intriguing. But unlike picking up a piece at a bakery or grocery store, you have to actually acknowledge the fact that you’re eating a bunch of sugar and flour.
So I’d probably end up trying it with whole wheat flour and spenda and/or honey and the whole thing would taste like crap. So then I’d go back to the far WORSE but anonymous transfats and gobs of sugar and butter than comes in my grocery store slice.
Oh, and it looks like there’s no icing. Must have icing!

July 25, 2008 at 4:30 amThank you! Have added: Must Eat Cake to my growing to do list for today. Beats hell out of scrubbing the shower.

July 25, 2008 at 4:55 amThe Something Store cracked me up – the couple of items they show as “something” are nice, but I’d probably end up with some size 32 men’s yellow green and black plaid pants with a wide white belt from the 70s.
“Blogger 15” *snort*
The pet web cam would be ideal for those pet owners who firmly believe that in their absence Mr. Kitty NEVER goes on the counter or furniture or eats your tooth brush or whatever. I have 7 kitties and they go wherever they dang well please. Maybe mine are renegades.

July 25, 2008 at 5:23 amI don’t think I want to know what my pets are up to sometimes. I like to pretend they are practicing photo poses and making up captions for http://www.icanhascheezburger.com/
I’m so making something in a cup today. We’ll see how many miles I can do when i finish typing and that will be the tiebreaker between muffin or cake. More miles, get cake! I love a good carrot on a stick.
I’m intrigued by the Something Store. I’d be a little worried about what sort of something I’d actually get. Hmmm?

July 25, 2008 at 5:26 amI love the idea of having pastries “in a minute”–that’s the good life! And I LOVE the supercook website–I’d never seen it before, but it’s just what this unimaginative noncook needs!

My thought was/is to do MizFit Motivators.
Match-a-MizFit.
An online goal-buddy.
Now I’ve veered wildly off track (or, for me, made a right hand turn ;)) on to matching people to do Something Store sends.
I love the surprise concept of it all even realizing I’d be as Hughs Mom described.

July 25, 2008 at 7:29 amIs it wrong that the 5 minute chocolate cake looks better to me before it goes in the microwave? MMM, cake batter + randomly sending gifts to myself, er, loved ones…

July 25, 2008 at 7:29 amI love that font site…could definitely come in handy!
Also, cracking up at the idea of a pet cam. Then maybe I could figure out what my dog sees when she decides, “yes, today is the today that I’m going to be a total spaz.”
I enjoy cooking, so, for me, it’s kind of a game to see what I can create from what’s leftover in the fridge. However, now I have Supercook to play against. Awesome.
How about baked cheetos? That should count as a food, right? I’m sure Hungry Girl has used them in recipes before…and she’s kind of like a recipe goddess to me.

July 25, 2008 at 7:34 amI’m sorry, don’t you mean “Life is too short not to stop, smell the proverbial roses and eat a FROSTING SHOT or two.” ?? PS I have an even better tip for choco in a mug:
1) Buy Betty Crocker brownie mix
2) Pour about a quarter cup into a mug
3) Add a few drops of water – just a teensy bit – and mix. Add water as necessary but be careful b/c it will go from batter consistency to runny grossness really quick.
4) Enjoy a dose of fudgy brownie batter goodness. And low-fat! (no eggs or oil.)

July 25, 2008 at 8:24 amOoh, I love the way that cake just spills out of the mug. It looks so deliciously large.
But knowing me I’d do the same thing as Crabby (whole wheat flour, less sugar, etc etc) and ruin it.
I might make your muffin today though. I could use a mug muffin to get my energy rolling.
Thats a lot of web apps! And I am SO tempted to buy “something” from the something store… thats the best idea ever. So many wonderful possibilities!

Debra? youre smart. one should never ever trust a recipe I provide. hence the guest chefs up in herre and the fact when friends & family come to visit we eat OUT. I have strange taste in foodcoctions.
Alice? please keep an eye out for a future ADULT DEPENDS freebie. I shall rig it so you’re the winner.

July 25, 2008 at 10:16 amI just made your muffin! But used bran instead of flax. And honey for sweetener (but sightly less). And 1/4 cup egg whites instead of an egg. (I can’t help it. I see a recipe and I always have this strange desire to change it in some way. sighs, its a curse!)
It was an awfully tasty little muffin. I love how big it puffs up! I think I’ll be making it often.

July 25, 2008 at 1:12 pmI do the MIM almost daily. I try to get flax in my diet everyday and that seems to be the fastest. I also bake all whole wheat bread for the family (don’t buy it anymore because it’s so hard to find it without the darn HFCS) and add flax.
I also like how you mentioned to soak the mug right away….good tip! I have scrubbed one too many 😉

July 25, 2008 at 1:39 pmIt’s FUNNY how things work out. I’m super busy in the office today but decided to check in on the Bumbling Band. I’m making my way through the links (love the “Something Store” one BTW) and almost make it to the end, when the boyfriend calls and a “there’s good news and bad news” conversation ensues.
The “bad news” sends me immediately to STRESS DEFCOM 5 and I’m thinking to myself ‘screw the healthy turkey meatballs and mixed veggie medley that I prepared and brought for lunch, only a cheezboyga and large frize with BBQ sauce can take my blues away, just let me finish this last link and I’m on my way’.
What’s this???…an emotional eating Face time and lotsa positive reinforcement comments and encouragement….Decadence list…..feel what I’m feeling….

July 25, 2008 at 5:13 pmOk, I thought I was going to make the choco cake, but I ended up making the muffin for my afterwork snack instead. yum! I used liquid egg whites, because i had no eggs, and oil, since the butter was hard as a rock. Mine ended up not very fluffy and pretty short and dense (i think my baking powder is past its prime), but it was so tasty! I put homemade fig preserves on top. i know what’s for breakfast tomorrow!
My husband looked at the funny little dome shape in the dish and asked if it was bread pudding. Which got me thinkin’ about whiskey sauce….
