September 19, 2008 at 4:53 amAvast ye! This sad little pirate will be missing her rum this weekend as she’s still loaded up on painkillers (even a pirate can’t manage both), but this does give her a great opportunity to try the 100 rep challenge with her physio exercises plus the limited number of lifting exercises I can now do. Hey, if I can’t do many, I’ll just do ’em loads of times! Maybe skip the dumbells and use pieces of eight?
As an adult Iwent to a fancy dress party dressed as a pumpkin. However I discovered upon arriving (to everybody else’s amusement) that I was the only one who had actually made the effort to dress up.
Yes, there is photographic evidence.
It may be revealed at some point.

September 19, 2008 at 5:15 amand oh that I were kidding at all about celebrating it up in herre.
We’re pretty much all skull & cross bones all the time anyway (with girly skulls and sugar skulls tossed in for good measure. We’re a silly motley crew) but today?
We’re talking the piratetalk.
Toddler Tornado always hath donned a plastic eye patch AND has a stuffed parrot affixed to her wrist.
And, if you could hear her garbled version of SHIVER ME TIMBERS I daresay you’d pee your pirate-self.
(And that’s not just MamaMiz thumbtalking.)
Life is too short not to laugh your way through it.
Miz.

September 19, 2008 at 5:17 amI was thinking who would look cuter in the tutu—one of my girls or hubby? He always dresses up as something crazy! This might be pushin’ it though! We have a pirate costume in the closet! It gets worn more than once a year ;)!!
Marianne says
September 19, 2008 at 5:20 amUmmm…I have a corkscrew in the glove box, in each car, several in the kitchen, one in the dining room, and at least 2 in the camper. My first resistance effort today is not making any references to hammer and screw coming before or after wine. Don’t wanna have to be made to walk the plank…
Would so put cat treats in the clock.
Oh TA, I so have you beat in embarrassing Halloween costumes. Like the year I went as a mermaid, and the tail was a skirt, and someone stepped on it while I was walking…and I so did NOT have on Disney underpants…
YAY! It’s Frrrrrrrrrrrrriday!
: )
MizFit says
September 19, 2008 at 5:25 amuh, Annette?
You KNOW I now need to ask.
For all of us (don’t lie to me Bumbling Band. You wondering!):
Is it a sexy pirate costume?
Is THAT why more than once a year?
Or you like the Miz. in that you pick random days to dress in costume?
Inquiring minds and all….
And marianne? I love you too much to request more info on that one.
And I love you enough to start begging, errr, looking for a Disney ‘pants giveaway especially for you 😉

September 19, 2008 at 6:13 amOy! I just found about the whole pirate thing from Steve in a Speedo. What a great day!
I bet my 7-yr old niece would look so adorable in leggings and a tutu. Awwww.
Thanks for the stretching link- it will come in much handy. And I’m not even going to attempt the 100-words quiz. I def don’t have time for that.
But time for a chococlock- you betcha! Oh, and I don’t even have a cat, but that chaise is freakin’ hilarious. I kind of want to make one and then invite the neighbors cat over for some catnip and tea.

and the Tornado?
the first time she said it I really had NO CLUE what she was saying (this was WITH the eyepatch on as well..a few months back).
it more closely resembles:
Shutter the teeters!
which, as soon as I realized that the teeters were indeed ALREADY shuttered, I finally figured out what she meant.

bottom line: not for me. either the light weights for 2874627642 reps or the cardio dance (just a personal NO WAY. nothing against the cardio workout).
cynical bottom line? I DO NOT THINK MADONNA IS DOING THAT
SHITSTUFF and looking as buff as she does either.that may not be your goal (madonna arms) but if it is….
and lastly 🙂
two hours, Gwynnie? that’s too long for this MizFit.

2 hours of working out. Puhleeze. But, I guess if I had someone to do everything for me, I could do that too! Hell, if I could get someone to carry the laundry upstairs it would be a miracle.
Stupid fitness test on the elliptical machine annoyed me. It wants you to drop your heart rate from 150 to 120 and hold it there for 2 minutes. But if you stop, it resets itself, and if you keep going, heart rate does not drop. IT can walk the plank.
So, on Pirate Day are we supposed to watch all the Pirates of the Carribean movies?

September 19, 2008 at 11:39 amThanks for your thoughts on the Gweneth thing. I didn’t see the show, I only saw the exercise part on Oprah’s site. You say she says this isn’t for a role and isn’t her job. She’s smoking crack if she believes that. She may not be doing it for a specific role, but she will get many more offers if she is thin and tone than if she is soft and chubby. So it is part of her job whether she thinks so or not.
Madonna? I totally agree that those kind of exercises are not all she is doing to look the way she looks.
MizFit says
September 19, 2008 at 11:44 amSMOKING CRACK 🙂 you make me laugh, Robin.
*I* actually said that it isnt her job (she thumbtypes thinking PLEASE NOT TO SUE ME OH MRS. COLDPLAY) only in that, were it her job (say for a role) I could even **get** her spending 2 hours a day working out.
understand it more.
but just for looks (IMO you can get all you need for health in an hour or less)?
wow.
I can think of a million ways Id spend that other hour/12 hours a week.
(and that made me roll my eyes more than the 800 reps with the three pound weights. Madonna could do that all day every day and gain nary an ounce of muscle.)
all just this MizFit’s opinion…

and what bugs me even more is that oprah DOES have that money is still not in shape/healthy. I love me some oprah, but this episode just irked me. She made it sound like ANYONE can do what she does (“I can hear the kids playing in the pool while I exercise.” Yea, sure, whatever!)

September 20, 2008 at 12:01 amOMG. A tutu?! Don’t know what I would do with that. I would get in trouble for wearing it on the training floor, I’m sure. But I might try it anyway.
Talk like a pirate day? Totally got back from a pirate party at a local bar.
Also? THANKS FOR THE LINK LURVE!

September 21, 2008 at 8:06 amEven though I have two girlies who would die over the tutu, I would totally get one for me and play dress up with them- and I am sure my man wouldn’t mind seeing a little dressing up too…Besides, by getting one for me, I would be avoiding the fighting that would ensue over having one that they had to share. I’ve really thought this through.
And the directions for opening the wine bottle without a corkscrew? I needed that last night as we broke our corkscrew trying to finagle the cork out. Next time, next time.
