Well, I don’t know if it qualifies as “passionate”, but we’ll be getting away for a 3-day weekend, looking at some fall colors. Add a few adult beverages later in the day and much passion generally ensues. Heh.

October 17, 2008 at 3:57 amThis weekend is all about family and kids. And the passion will be that I will be in the moment in all that happens. From building a wood project for Cub Scouts, to coaching soccer, to watching soccer, to watching football, to watching basketball – and finally to playing together. I will “be” in all those moments.

October 17, 2008 at 4:11 amWell this weekend will be about family! Going to Orlando to visit Papa and Grandma and as my son believes most important, Ben. That’s grandma’s chocolate lab. So I’m sure there will be lots of smiles and laughter throughout the weekend. What I’m excited about is a new haircut and color!!! I haven’t had one since December so I’m VERY excited about that.

October 17, 2008 at 5:10 amMy son and I spent our last 9 weekends doing football.
It’s our first free weekend, some fun? It’s my call.
To Madison, Wisconsin to Farmers Market we go
Then on to some shopping if I can locate Costco.
It that doesn’t move me, to Sam’s Club I’ll head
I’ll pay the small fee; it’s free samples I dread.
Perhaps to the zoo I’ll drag my dear son
It depends on his mood and his craving for fun.
It’s really quite possible he’ll say, Can’t we stop?
At the mall where he loves to shop ’til I drop.
The rest is about cleaning house in and out
Putting up Hallowing decorations is what I’m about.
And digging up tubers among them pertaters
And pulling out stalks of what once was termaters.
Then finally flopping down, done, on the couch.
Where I’ll I’ll put up my feet and rub them…ouch.
To bed I will go for some much-needed sleep.
On Sunday it’s gym, laundry, mopping — eeep.
That’s my weekend. I hope it turns out as nicely as I mean it to. No hurry. No gotta get there 10 minutes ago. Just hangin’ w/my boy. ..
Enjoy!

October 17, 2008 at 6:25 amSince we are all feeling better we plan on using every minute of the weekend for family and fun. Hubby and I decided only necessary chores (diapers, etc) will be done. We plan on a picnic at the park, hoping for the zoo, and some time with Grandma and Grandpa since they have been gone for a week to Texas and New Mexico. I will be looking for random acts of kindness wherever I go. Think I will start that today and see if my sis would like to give me a few kids for the morning to give her a break. I try to do that when I can because she really needs a break π

October 17, 2008 at 6:38 amOkay, several comments actually:
1. I love Jack’s philosophy! No BS, no excuses. Just freakin’ do it. That’s SO in line with how I think! And God knows it’s paid off for him. π
2. I love the yoga cookies, but they’re far too cute to eat. I wonder if you could lacquer them up and use them as tree decorations?
3. I can’t even begin to say how cool those tees are. I know several people who are getting these for Christmas this year.
4. This weekend? I am all about living passionately, being present, and being in the moment. We’re going up to the cabin – just DH, YD and me. ED has a voice lesson and doesn’t want to skip it. While I will miss her terribly, this is going to be a great opportunity for me to spend some much-needed one-on-one time with YD. We’re going to bike, walk, and spend as much time as possible being outside exploring the world around us and loving the beautiful fall weather. We’re going to wander down to the campground (closed for the season, so we’ll have it all to ourselves to explore) and take our time just meandering around on our bikes. After dark, we’ll build a fire and roast marshmallows and sing songs…we might watch a movie…or we might read or just snuggle and talk. Well, DH is invited too, but there’s going to be some serious one-on-one time. I’m EXTREMELY excited!
As for random acts of kindness – I can’t say exactly what I’ll do, (they’ll be, well, random) but I will be on the lookout for any opportunity that presents itself, that I can promise!

How to be passionate this weekend? Well i’m going to be busy as a bee all weekend and next week, in fact the first day i don’t have anything on my planner is a week this saturday!! however i’m being busy doing things i love, being with the hubby when he needs me to go along with him to his appointments! Speaking before a strange crowd about our issues with mental health challenges and how we’ve overcome them π And even working which i’m doing all weekend, i actually enjoy my work and for the most part get a real kick out of my customers π Oh and for bringing me down to earth?? October 17, 2008 at 7:08 amLiving passionately? Well, I’ll tell you what I have planned for this weekend. I’m going on a hike with one of my best girlfriends. We’re going to hike to the top of a mountain and I’m going to throw my wedding ring off the top. I’ve been saving this occassion for when the big d was official, and it now is, since I have my divorce papers in hand. I’m hoping that it is significantly symbolic in that I have completely moved on and am ready to let go of that part of my life. Literally π So, in that way, the “choose happiness” tee would be perfect for me, because I did π

October 17, 2008 at 7:27 amThank you for the great links Miz and for another fun rhyme. I really liked that video of Benny – we found a lost jack russell terrier two weeks ago and fell in love with her – such energy! But then we found her mom and had to give her back.
Well, this weekend I plan to spend time outside. This is my favorite time of year in Austin, next to spring, and the plan is to take the dog on long walks, work in the yard and relax with my hubby.
Thanks for the reminder about giving back. I got a call to volunteer for the election to work in a phone room, and that is my opportunity for the upcoming week.

As for RAKs this weekend (can it still be a RAK if I’m planning it out this far in advance?) is I’m taking a group of teenage girls I volunteer with through my church to a food pantry where we will make “meal kits” that provide a day’s worth of nutrition and calories for starving children in war zones. I’ve done it with this group before and it is *quite* the experience. Afterwards we are helping our local community action council collect food from a recent food drives and stock the pantry shelves! I’m going to keep my mouth shut when my mind wants to spout negative b.s. about the trip. I’m going to stay mindful of the beauty around me throughout the drive. I’m going to remain mindful of my wonderful relationship with Chris. I’m going to be aware that I see this group of people only occasionally so to spend a short time with them and be as open and accepting to each situation as it comes is the best way to make the day a good one for me and anyone else involved with me.

October 17, 2008 at 9:18 amI practiced a random act of kindness this morning…or at least I think I did. It was a brisk 37 degrees and I saw a gentleman walking along the highway with a gas can in hand. A few yards ahead was his car, apparently out of gas. He was about 5-6 miles from the closest gas station and just wearing a light-weight jacket. Sadly, in this day and age of suspicion and fear, I didn’t feel safe enough to pick him up by myself, but I did call the police station and asked if an officer could give him a ride. They said they would!
Passionate plans for tonight include taking a test for an online class, trying to finish in time to yell like h*ll for my son’s football team, getting some much-needed SLEEP!
Tomorrow there will be passionate time spent at the gym with some dumbbells (weights, not people…hee) and the treadmill, a football game for the youngest son, and a party at a friend’s house.
Sunday’s passionate plans include laundry, grocery shopping, and cleaning.

October 17, 2008 at 9:45 amClicking on links
and what did I see?
A link that’s called “bloggers”
and it’s point back to ME!
How sweet that you did this
How kind can you be?
And on top of the linkage
There’s the chance for a tee!
For the price of a comment
about our passionate lives
You know the good questions
Upon which blogging just thrives.
Alas I admit it
my weekend is bland
It’s just that we haven’t got
anything planned.
So we’ll chat and take walks
And play cards here at home
Besides all my passion
Went into this poem. π

October 17, 2008 at 10:01 amI am living with an open heart by taking my children to my daughter’s birth-father’s house for a family party.
Sounds complicated, but with an open heart, it’s really not.
And I’m aiming to be mindful and present.

October 17, 2008 at 10:08 amThis weekend is all about me and the kids. We will be passionately enjoying the out doors, as fall has arrived (that is, if I can get over this sinus infection quickly…otherwise I’ll be passionately sucking on cough drops & popping benadryl).
Thank you for your kind comment today. I very much appreciated it and needed to hear those exact words. Taking care of myself is, in fact, very important to those around me. You’re awesome for pointing that out. So, thanks again!

October 17, 2008 at 11:03 amI have a genetics research paper to write this weekend. I know it’s work, but you know what? I love doing it, otherwise I wouldn’t be, and the idealist in me really believes that by doing this I might help others one day, solve a piece of the puzzle that could cure a disease or make people’s lives better in some other way. So those are my passionate plans for the weekend, as well as continuing to run.

October 17, 2008 at 11:14 amOooo! Maggie! Hope you have fun visiting my town this weekend!!! You’ve probably been to the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival before, but if not, leave early from wherever you’re coming from and beat the traffic!
This weekend I’ll be running the 5K race in the Pumpkin Run, which benefits our local Senior Coastsiders group. I’m getting a little anxious (I haven’t run a race since high school!) but excited, too. Otherwise, just kicking back with the family this weekend. Oh, and grading papers as part of helping in my son’s classroom.
I loved the Jack LaLanne article, Miz. I’d seen (and love) this one: “[E]xercise is king. Nutrition is queen. Put them together and youβve got a kingdom!” The rant against warming up made me laugh out loud; thank goodness that tea I was drinking wasn’t hot!
I also got a laugh at imagining myself prancing around with the “Live Fully” slogan on those nice t-shirts stretched across my chest. Ah, yes, that could up the passion level of a weekend for sure! π

October 17, 2008 at 2:43 pmVolunteering at the Wichita Marathon this weekend, right at the end. I can stand and yell at people “KEEP GOING! YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!” and it will actually be *true.*
Because I hate it when people straight up LIE to me about that. 6 miles left? Not almost there. 3 miles left? Not almost there. Unless I am close enough to crawl across the finish line should my legs give out, I am not almost there.
What are you doing this weekend, Miz F?

October 17, 2008 at 4:03 pmMizFit and the bumblers…. I’m building a team to do the American Heart Association walk here in New Orleans. My mother had a heart attack about ten years ago (she’s fine now), and my father died of one years ago. One of my favorite causes is enlightening others about heart health, especially for women.
MizFit says
October 17, 2008 at 4:12 pmthanks for mentioning that, giz. I know that we women seem to almost ‘forget’ that heart disease is such a killer (with all the other cancers/diseases loom out there…).
Im certain youve seen the Go Red For Women website.
There is an online risk assessment one can do there as well: CLICK HERE.
Have a great weekend and thanks for the reminder.
Jamie? Erica? we are doing a whole lotta nothing here.
getting a big donation box gathered, playing, celebrating Sukkot, playing, CHEERING THE STEELERS ON TO VICTORY, playing & talking walks.

October 17, 2008 at 5:21 pmWhen it come to random acts of kindness they are just that random and for me just happen no planning as I go about my day to day doings. So my day to day doings this weekend are go grocery shopping, continue getting ready for yard sale next Saturday (things not sold go directly to charity but that is next weekend). Sunday after church I’ll help with food distribution ministry. In do days there could be several random acts here and there.
Your post brought something to my mind that I had thought of in a while, “Be the change you want others to see” and “If it is to be it is up to me.” Both play a part in my efforts to change myself as well as those around me. Have a great weekend.

October 17, 2008 at 6:47 pmWooohoooo!!! I am running in the Nike Women’s Half Marathon this weekend and my girls are going to be at the finish line with my running gals and their Dad.
I am so mad excited for my kids to see me run with a whole bunch of other women!!! And so honored to do so…
And on a way less glamorous note- I am sorting through children’s clothing and toys and taking those and a bunch of my stuff over to a program that provides resources to moms and kids who need them… I also will confirm my role as a running mentor for ‘Girl’s On the Run’….
Its all kids and all running this weekend – Oh, and a pancake brunch following the half marathon

My weekend:
I took my middle child and went to midnight yoga on Friday – relaxation poses, a singing bowl, meditation exercises. We were back home by 1:45am and I went to sleep in my yoga clothes so that I could jump out of bed and run back to the yoga studio for my regular Saturday morning classes.

October 18, 2008 at 8:42 amWell, if it’s passion, then this weekend is all about football, baby! We have a home football game (we have season tickets), our team is 7-0, and we’re the only undefeated team left in our conference. I’m getting all decked out in my red (go Utes!), with my beads and maybe even paint my face. Then we’ll drag our stadium chairs and our bottles of water a mile from where we park the car, and I’ll cheer until I lose my voice (like last time when we beat Oregon State in the last 2 seconds of the game). And it’s going to be 72 degrees- could it be more perfect?
Sunday will be more football when our Vikings play the Bears (in Chicago), so I’ll be cheering for my boys in purple (well, silently cheering from church).
Oh, and I’m getting ready to go out and test my knee on a run (crossing fingers that today is the day).
P.S. I heart Jack LaLanne. I love what he says about exercise and nutrition: “Exercise is king, nutrition is queen. Put them together and you’ve got a kingdom!” How cool is that?!
And I heart your poems, too, MizFit!!! (If I had a GPS, you know I’d be all over the PIG Tones, LOL)
