Dont wanna wait to see if you’ve won?
Ready for your own copy *now*? Please to go right here.
Never ever been to visit Diet Girl’s blog (for shame! for shame!)? Please get to clicking, bookmarking & adoring.
There’s simply no one like the D-Girl.
(Because of all the generousity D-Gizzle has already spread around *outside* the USA the winner is, alas, for United States only.)
I already have a super hero name… DietSodaDiva!
Got a question… you might be able to answer… does dietgirl the book have two different versions with two different kind of covers… the mint/blue/green cover and the cover with the super hero woman on the cover. Are those two the same book or did she write two books?
Hi Rosie – the superhero version is the original UK book which came out a year ago. The US edition is the blue one π
*waves to Rosie & DietGirl*
I laugh that this weekend I had on one of my fave tees which reads:
I AM MY OWN SUPERHERO
(the Toddler Tornado has one to match)
and someone asked me what her name was. needless to say I was stumped. still am.
May have to go with ‘mazing mizfit?
truly amazing & inspirational π
Oh gosh- this book sounds amazing! hmmm my super hero name Tiny terror? hahah
My two favorite bloggers TOGETHER AT LAST!!
(MizFit? what’s your story? when is your book coming out?)
I am a huge dietgirl fan and have read her blog forever.
my superhero name would be Miss. Bea Fabulous!!
Mine would be: Bingo Arms or Fatty Patty
PICK ME!!!!
I would be…Living Large Lucy?
(yes I did steal my inspiration from comment #7)
Triflappycep – I knock over buildings with my flapping triceps. ha ha LOL that sounds more like a dinosaur not a super hero. Hmm superhero…….yeah I got nothing. But I’m probably gonna be thinking about it all day! π
I am going to get the book today!
My superhero name would be: ms. Fluff-B-Gone!
I am with Bea. My two favorites are together!!
In honor of that I shall turn into:
Kicks A**lissa
and second the request for the the MizFit book.
and I laugh that Im so NOT exaggerating the love.
I read the book on the plan to chicgao for my little OATcation and as soon as I landed/found the other bloggers was all a twitter (pun intended) about my newfoundDG love.
I *thought* Id liked Shauna from her blog….but her writing when devoured allatonce in book form?
love.
The Penguin
For I am always cold.
I LOVED the book.
TA x
Hey Miz, starting the week with a bang indeed!!! π
So far so good anyway.
I love DietGirl… her book was amazing. Also she’s the reason I started looking at weight loss/fitness blogs and eventually the reason why I started my own blog!
So everyone go out and buy her book! You certainly won’t regret it.
tokaiangel: I am always cold too!! Maybe I’ll go with Ms Frosty … though I think that makes me sound terribly unsocial or something!
totally, crazylady.
Because I’d never think of WENDY’S DESSERT TREAT immediately after reading your superhero name.
Never.
π
Must confess, the Bag Lady hasn’t looked at Diet Girl’s blog…shall do so.
Superhero name for Bag Lady? WonderRancherWoman. (as in, wonder what the hell she’s doing wearing that stupid costume with those things on her wrists!)
I think I’d have to be ObsessoGirl. Look! Up in the air! It’s a bird, it’s a plane….wait, why is she arranging them all by wingspan?
Love the party hat! The book sounds great, too. I think I’ve come across Diet Girl’s blog before, but I’ll have to get on board.
Since the Hubs has sort of a Wonder Woman fascination, my super hero name would probably be something related like Wonder Runner, but that doesn’t really make sense since I am certainly not a wonder at running. So maybe it would be something more accurate like Info-Bot, because I’m plenty good at searching for and reading the info, but not always good at application.
P.S. I think this week I’ll be working on my fruit and veggie mini-vision board, so I’ll for sure take pictures and post, just for you!!
My Superherio Name: The Captian of Awesomeness!
I ordered my own copy from england when it first came out – and loved every bit of it.
I had actually read Shauna’s whole blog – went back to the beginning and read my way thru – several years ago. She is one of my favorites. Reading the blog and reading the book were actually different experiences – the blog was written as she went – the book was written after having gotten there – very interesting to read both views.
I would be ‘The Corkscrew’…because this journey has taken so many twists and turns and I’ve definitely come out on the other side a different person. AND, I would wear a kick-butt pink costume!
I’ve been to her website before though I’m not a daily reader.
I haven’t heard of dietgirl before but I am about to go and check her out.
wearing my cape as SUPER SARA.
I knew you guys would play along π
and am thankful Im doing RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR to pick the winner π
Miz, who is donning her cape and heading out into the cold rainy morning. HEY! PERHAPS THE WEATHER IS A TRIBUTE TO DIETGIRL TOO?
I so love diet girl she is quite the inspiration for all of us. She is one of my favorite blogs (and one of the first I came across) and when I read her blog I get re inspired everday.
My super hero name: hmmmm…………yesIcan!
Mara
http://24stepstogo.blogspot.com/
Heart DietGirl- and already have the book from having won it before:D I’ve read it multiple times; it’s one of my favorites.
The first (and only) time Shauna commented on my blog, I totally felt like I had been blessed by blogging royalty!!! It was awesome.
My superhero name? Queen SuperFunAwesome. I would wear a bullet proof tiara and stop evil-doers in their tracks with my sharp wit and shiny sceptor! But no cape, because capes get stuck in jet engines and tornadoes and such.
Never been to DietGirl. Will go, though. Thanks, as always, for turning me on to new sites. You fill up my google reader, yes you do!
Me, I’m sticking with Happy Runner.
I think… HangryPants. No no. HangryGirl.
I love the part about her super hero image getting more and more buff! So cute.
I’d be Radiant Girl LOL!
And WTG Shauna! Hope your virtual book tour is amazing for you – what a great idea!
How cool that you loved the book. Prolly be a good one. Will check out the blog too.
If you haven’t read Diet Girl’s book yet, you’re missing a great tale! I highly recommend it π
My superhero name would have to be FarmGirl. I can (and do) carry full 5-gallon water buckets in each hand (40 lbs apiece) and, during the Great Ice Storm Blackouts (just last month, when we were without power for 7 days) I was hauling said water buckets 100 feet uphill (again, one in each hand for balance) from the stream to the barn. Because, after all, no electricity means no water from the well (electric pump). I can also carry a 60-lb hay bale in each hand (although I usually tote those one at a time) and carry 50 lb bags of grain from the pickup, across the yard, and up the stairs in the barn to the feed room in the loft.
Now I just have to work at getting the awesome body I deserve!
uh, Caroline? DAMN.
Do you know our dear friend Bag Lady?
you two are *hardcore*
What an amazing story – Go Diet Girl! Hmmm, superhero name…The Amazing Dog Hair Picker Upper…guess what I’ve been doing all morning? π Thank God for my Swiffer!
Already have a super hero nickname, my granddaughter
has called me Super Grammy ever since the day she saw me help her uncle carry a full size freezer up the steps and into the house. I love it since I walked with a cane before losing 145 lbs.
Can’t wait to get started on the book! THanks for the tip Miz!
Ahh it’s been awhile.. Never read/heard about DG’s blog until now.. didn’t even know about the book.. *whistling damn I know I’ve been gone a long time*
Well I have added her to my reader..
My super hero name.. SuperJazzerRunner
I hadn’t heard of dietgirl before either (which is why I come here LOL I am always behind the times) and am going to add her to my reader as well.
SuperAwesomeAlice
I keep coming back to my dad’s nickname for me when I was a toddler: The Terror of TinyTown (After the western movie with an all-little people cast).
I guess that would make me a villian.
I LOVE DIETGIRL <3
Lots of swoony hearts for her!
I bought her book from Amazon UK last year because I just couldn’t wait ;).
I LOVE THAT, Tricia.
it so trumps my latest for the Tornado of Tiny Dictator.
Whoa! I loves diet girl. Have indulged in her entire archive at one point, another way to avoid work .
Can I plz plz be procrastinator queen?
And I’ll take a book please!
I am adding this to my list of must reads, thank you for your review!!
Sadly I’m in Canada so can’t participate… I agree though, shipping these days is so expensive!
Love your blog, such an inspiration!
Jenny
I totally agree with you, it was a great read!
And I had the same reaction–even though I knew how much she’d ultimately lose, the whole thing was suspenseful and full of surprises.
We get her next monday, and I’m looking forward to following her on her Blog Tour. So I’ll save a little of my gushing for later.
I am not familiar with dietgirl but would love to win the book for my girlfriend (I don’t know if she knows D-Gizzle LOL or not).
I would be the Evanator.
I know it is lame but all I can think of right now.
The books where I want the author to be my new best friend are the best. They are also few and far between, and sometimes are spoiled by email exchanges with the writer in question. I sense that Shauna would not do that to us and will put this on my list! (I s’pose you’re not going to disclose who the author is who’s supposed to be not so nice in person who you mentioned is?)
My superhero name…Confidence Woman. I would have the power to shoot people with arrows infusing them with self-esteem. Myself included. For now, I have to make do with words and actions, not arrows.
Well, it’s obvious, isn’t it? I’m Dragonmamma! Champion of the Oppressed, Lifter of the Large-Economy-Size-Whatever at Costco, Helper of Little Old Ladies and Men to Cross the Street, Pull-up and Burpee Queen of the Santa Rosa YMCA.
Never heard of Diet Girl. Must check this out.
Wow wow wow, that would be fab. I love her blog!
Okay, I am all about this! I’d Lurve a copy…
My superhero name – HMMMM – judging by the sheer amount of JIGGLING On my inaugural run this weekend, I”m going to go with: Captain Flabtastic.
Or am I a Captainess or something?
Dang, I should have made my blog name The Jiggly Adventures of Captainess Flabtastic. Oh well, hindsight is, well, you know…
My superhero name would be – not so original – The Running Knitter. π
I have been waiting for this one to come out. Yay.
I wish it were available for Kindle. Darn it.
again, glad Im surrendering to the random Number Generator.
although this?
I mightcould have to NAG you Ben’s Mom to rename your blog.
that is too freakin perfect.
I had the pleasure of meeting DG a couple of BlogHer’s ago, and she’s absolutely charming.
I never thought about a superhero name. Maybe the TippyToe Terror? Picture the Incredible Hulk…with a nice mani/pedi…
Wow, way to go, Diet Girl! Thanks, MizFit, for pointing me to this book.
You haven’t been wrong yet with reccomendations, in my book. Love our Supernoots and MBTS..and I know there must be more. WIll check out DG. It’s a bit negative..but the lack of followthru is a common theme with me..so.. The Diabolical Distracted..or SuperSlacker..able to start many tasks, but not complete one.
thanks for the new find!!
I plan to check out the book and the blog since what you like I usually like as well.
I love her name Diet Girl.
I would be Super Scale Smasher.
So, you couldn’t read a snippet from the book because it’s so engaging there was no good stopping point? Sounds like a winning read to me.
My superhero name would have to be MapChick.
My superpower is always being able to give the correct directions to complete strangers when asked, which happens more than you’d think. Whether on a long run the middle of nowhere, riding my bike to the grocery store, or on vacation in a completely new city… Works out well, since my secret identity is that of a mild mannered mom & cartographer.
I KNOW, Joy.
and oh that I were kidding that i did the book NONO of dogearing the pages thinking there would be like FIVE—and by the time I landed in chicago it was all a great big dog eared mess.
and Im a picky reader.
I didnt use to be but now that I have so little free time I really am selective.
I have to be.
Ok – just got back from gym, park, library…..how bout The Fatonator – Eliminating fat everywhere! π Yeah I’m not very good at this, hee hee.
I’ve read Diet Girl and was excited about the book. Will get it even if the Great Number Generator doesn’t pick me. My superhero name — Chocolate Thunder Thighs, of course!!!
That is quite a review! How exciting to be the kick off spot for the book tour. I will have to check out her blog and book!
Ooohhhh looks like an interesting book! Def going to have to make my way over to the blog π
Love the name! And kudos to anyone who can diet while living in Scotland (my limited experience was that they deep fry EVERYTHING – including meat pies…even I was craving veggies when I left there).
And look at you being the all important kick off for a book tour – so proud to have known you when you were ultra cool but lesser known!
Oh, I love her blog. Haven’t read the book yet, though.
Um, I already have a superhero name. The name and explanation follow, but be warned: it is some SERIOUS TMI.
My name? BOOB WOMAN. No, really. The reason is pretty self-explanatory. The joke in my family is that the average woman’s cup size is a C, and all the women in my family are smaller than that – except me. So they figure I got all their missing cup sizes. (On the plus side, when I’m thin, I have a FANTASTIC body. AND I can gain a fair amount of weight before I look overweight, because it takes a lot to balance out the boobs.)
So, yeah. Boob Woman: Defender of women everywhere!!! (There is a picture floating around somewhere of me, about 17 years old, in the family room, ripping open my shirt a la Superman. I was wearing a pink and blue Wonderbra underneath. You can see my parents in the background of the picture: Mom cracking up, Dad looking a little bemused. Yeah. We’re weird in my family.)
Hi MizFit…
When will you be announcing the winner?
you all crack me the HELL up.
And tomorrow.
I shall announce tomorrow.
The Quilted Elephant. I don’t know. I am deeply enmeshed in quilting this week, and I have always loved elephants. Of course, my nickname for much of my overweight life was Elly, and I liked it. I don’t see myself as an elephant or anything anymore, but I love them even more–gentle and powerful. Not so bad for a superhero. And actually a quilted cape would be quite beautiful on an elephant.
yes, when is YOUR book coming Miz?
I didn’t know Diet Girl – thank you for the introduction.
My SHN would be CHILL.
Love DietGirl. Love. She is just amazing. That’s all. π
V.
Hmm, this is REALLY hard. My first instinct is that it would have to be Princess something, because I’m so girly and feminine – but can princesses be superheroes? I’m all about alliteration (like Wonder Woman) but I can’t think of a good P word to describe me. I’m a perfectionist, but Princess Perfect just sounds ridiculously narcissistic.
Therefore, I’ll take a cue from The Incredibles (one of my favorite movies) and call myself Super something. Super… yeah, I can’t think of anything to go with that.
Okay, I’m going to instead take a cue from another Bumbling Band Member and figure out my super power first. I would love to be able to turn back time – not only to do things over and keep myself from making mistakes, but also so I could get extra time for stuff (like sleeping and working out!). My name can be TimeGirl!
I give up. That will have to be it.
I am with comment number 69, Miz!
Where is your book???
I will even start a blog to do your tour π
Now my superhero name? I am stumped.
but I still wanna win!!!!!
I started following the Dietgirl blog a few months ago, and I’ve read through a number of the archives. “Dang,” I thought to myself. “This girl is *funny*.” I preordered the US book awhile back, happily received it on New Year’s Eve, and spent the evening (and a few days after…only because of family/job demands, otherwise it would have been devoured in one sitting) reading this book.
Wow! I’m equally smitten. I wanted to write a great review for my own blog…but I wouldn’t be able to do it justice. I’d just gush and people would probably go, “Yeah, right, she probably says that about every book she actually has time to read these days, she’s so desperate for a read at all.” (But darned if I wasn’t going to post about it anyhow. π ) Not so: I really am particular; this book was BRILLIANT!
Some things I loved about the book:
– Numerous laugh-out-loud funny parts
– Parts that made me feel sympathetic, that I could relate to, and that made me ponder my own quest
– The themes: Fitness is not *only* about the scale or a pant size. Don’t wait until you’re at the “ideal” weight to do the things you really want to do. Don’t let fear stop you.
The only drawbacks?
– Being irritated at what or whom ever pulled me away during reading
– Having to *wait* until she (hope! hope! hope!) publishes another book! Don’t wait as long as that OTHER Edinburgh author, please!
Hmm…my own superhero name? I’d go with either “The Winsome Warrior” or “The Whimsical Warrior.” (Years ago I received a fortune cookie fortune that read: “Your winsome smile will be your sure protection.” I’ve always loved the words “winsome” and “whimsical”…”warrior” more in the context of being engaged in the daily struggle to achieve fitness. Plus it starts with “w,” I’m a sucker for alliteration.)
p.s. – Miz, please exclude me from the drawing, since I already have a copy and some other lucky person should get it instead.
SO SO WELL PUT, PUBSGAL. SEE, PEOPLE? IT ISNT JUST ME WHO HATH FALLEN UNDER THE DIET GIRL SPELL
What a cool thing. I am *running* to her blog now.
I am Captain Chubby Chick, the Heroine of the back of the back.
I may be chubby, but there is no distance I can’t cover.
Ok…stop rolling your eyes. LOL
Great post today!
I knew it was bad, but I’m realizing now that I have zero creativity. My superhero name would have to be … nothing. I’ve got nothing.
(Been reading dietgirl forever, but never got around to ordering the book. Glad to have the reminder! I couldn’t wait to find out the winner. Just ordered it.)
I wanna win! She rocks.
My super creative superhero name would be: FBG. So apparent, I know.
For some reason The Flying Tortoise strikes my fancy as my superhero name. Slow and steady wins the race but with a cool cape, too!
Antgirl is an invented superheroine of mine. In this scenario, to cover what I’ve accomplished, I’d have to pick I*Can’t*Destroyer. That’s more fitting. π
My superhero name has always been Blade. Mostly because I’m a designer and crazy good with the x-acto knife but someone said it’s also because I cut through the crap. My old boss even did an illustration of me with knives for legs. You are so cute in your hat today and thank you thank you thank you for always being an inspiration.
Sounds like a great book to read.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the MizFit “Fitness Is Not About Fitting In” book. π
Ooh – thanks for the new blog referral. I heart those. π
My superhero name? Princess Powerwalker!
I am going to have to check out Diet Girl. And I do love a good book.
Diet Girl is amazing! I am def. going to read her book one way or another!! My superhero name? Can Gym Buddy Allison and I be the Giggle Twins? Nevermind, that sounds like porn. I suppose the Wonder Twins is already taken…
I love when you link new blogs!
New to me I mean as obviously I am the one who is behind here since she has a book and all.
Super Sassy Sandy
I suppose THE PROCRASTINATOR woudln’t be good, huh? My dad would say it’s perfect…lol. Hmm…I’ll have to think about that one π
I will definately check the book out – if I don’t win it!
Must go read her blog now so I can fall in love with her as well!
Someone on the web once referred to me as “The Abundance Queen” (because of my blog’s name), so I think I’ll go with that π
I’m one of the lucky few who won a pre-US-publication book several months ago when Shauna ran her Scavenger Hunt contest. I can’t recommend the book enough. Even having already read every word of her blog since Day 1, I found so much to laugh and cry about. Miz you hit it on the head exactly with your “better than Cats” intro. And it’s much more than “just” a book about weight loss, it tells us so much about achieving any goal, conquering any of our limitations. If you haven’t read it, RUN to the nearest bookstore!
Yay! Mizfit and DG together!!! Super exciting!
Well, I guess my name would be Runner Girl or Princess Leia (long story, inside joke!).
Miz you hit it on the head exactly with your βbetter than Catsβ intro.
why do I think, marla, there is a you & I are the only ones who got that reference? π
Diet Girl is awesome. The end.
feeling quite emotional at the kind words despite my pseudo-british reserve π … thank you guys a bazillion!
Not sure what my name would be — but my superpower would be patience….and freezing people.
Never heard of her! *rushing over to check out the blog* I don’t really know what my superhero name would be – I’ve never thought of myself as a superhero of any kind. I found few superhero name generators online – one gave me “MEH: Defender of Monotony!” and another gave me “The Radioactive Mongoose”…. a third gave me “The Wild Torpedo” LOL π I tried!
If you had asked me what my super hero name would have been a year ago I would no doubt had said “The Amazing Invisible Woman” as that is what I wanted to be at 325lbs I truly wished I was invisible. However after getting rid of 49lbs in 2008 that has changed. I still have 134lbs to go. Now my super hearo name would be “Shrinking Pants Girl” I would come to the aid of dieters across the country and spread my Shrinking pants magic upon them.
Only superhero name I can come up with is “Super Mom”. I can find the school paper, favorite hair clip and Nintendo game and still not break a sweat. I like all the creative names…I think I need to expand my life more….
neato! i will check out the blog, and thanks for the book rec.! I’ll see if I can get my hands on one!
JUMP BACK JANA here.
Super hero reporting for duty.
Never read Diet Girl before.
THanks for the tip and fun video!
I’m just loving your hat.
Okay, okay…I will go check. (her blog)
–Mizfit, I have to say you have one of the lowest speaking voices I’ve ever heard. (I’ve noticed this before.) If you can carry a tune, you could become a famous contralto. They’re very rare, so you’d have very little competition.–
I’m so glad you wore that hat. I’m not a big fan of Cats =), but I’m sure that’s a great book.
I took a psychology class in college and part of the grade was wearing a BBK crown in class. Something about putting us all on the same page, and losing the ego so we would be more open to learning new things. Smart teacher, I guess it worked.
Superhero name: One Winged Panda. I will definitely pick up a copy of Diet Girl’s book when it is available at the library.
Cool! I had looked at this book a while back on amazon and thought about getting it. Now I definitely will. π
and Ive been looking for a new career Melissa!!
If only I could really sing.
In high school I was often a tenor.
lovely.
I’d like to be a mother-warrior but my hubby is really the super hero up in herre. I missed lots of your good posts/comments over the holidays, but would like to add to the tat comments..I have friends who tattooed their wedding bands. I can’t tell you how many people said “oooh, isn’t that permanent?” the point….
I loved the idea and wonder what yours will be??? I got my ears pierced for my midlife non-crisis. They swelled up like golf balls. I should have gone for the tat!
Of course
SuperDave to the rescue…..
Super MD changing lives by example. Running and burning those pounds into outerspace.
π
That was fun!
I would love to win this book. Terrific video intro to your give-away.
My super shero name: cat power
I like my name as it stands!
sounds like a winner! Super Shannon. but maybe that’s already been used π
Its a bird, It’s a plane … NO, it’sDaDivaLite! Able to resist Donuts & Fried Foods with just a wave of her hand! π Think I’m gonna work on my costume!
I like to do needlework, so my superhero name would be The Golden Needle. I pierce through the bad guys and stitch truth throughout the tapestry of mankind with my silver thread.
Love the post today. The hat is just the ticket! I too bought Shauna’s book from Amazon UK and loved, loved, loved it! Especially the cute little graphic on each page. So don’t enter me in the drawing, I just wanted a super hero name! LOL
Mine would be – The Two Wheel Menace. A chick on a bike with an attitude!
my super hero name would be the bobinator!!! Or thats what my brothers like to call me;)
Shauna’s blog was the very first one I ever followed years ago. I wasn’t ready to tackle my own weight loss then, but loved to follow her journey.
My superhero name would have to The Gigglepuss IcePhantom….I’m very good at lurking and blending in to hear what people don’t want me to…I have amazing balance in the snow and ice….and my giggling can cause villians to temporarily lose power!
OK, round two. I just read a post by Pubsgal, and realized this book has everything I could ever want to read in it =). It may even be the first book I finish in 5 years.
My super hero name would beβ¦the obvious βFitness Surferβ
I signed a love note to the hubby the other day with love and an illustration of a little stick figure girl on a wave with weights in her hands doing military press. It was surprisingly good and I may use it for my logo =) Then, I can add biceps as I gain more muscle =).
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR MAKING THE BOOK TOUR KICKOFF SO MUCH FUN!
I was honored Shauna/Diet Girl let us be her launching point and, IMO, we did her proud!!
xo xo,
Miz.
anti-anxietywoman is my pick lol
LMAO! “Fluffy?” I spouted organic sugarfree grapefruit juice all over my ezekiel bread on that one :-P.
I’m so “chiarunner: the pottery that runs”
Just add water yo, watch it grow (but hopefully not the posterior region. that means I’m not adding water. That’s so beer. But that’s besides the point.)
I’m so grabbing a copy. DietGirl sounds like a riot :-). She’s lucky to have you in her almighty chub fighting band of merry men!
oops, i’m a few days behind in posts with the break and everything, but i wanted to say that from your description, this book sounds really good.
