Damn, you’re up EARLY woman!
Ok, you make the plank look very easy and because of this…I will not only TRY, I will DO.
Always love Facetime!
Thanks Katschi. I love the videos as well for some reason…the plank? not so much but my core loves the workout.
question MizFit:
did you really start that way?
doing just that basic plank?
will that help me at all to hold once a day?
my core is so weak!!!!
Kim
same question here, MizFit.
although I am not certain I can even hold the plank like that yet.
I am going to try and will be back.
congrats to the winners (I guess this means I need to go out and BUY the book. Thanks Miz LOL!!) and thank you for the plan video.
My girlfriend and I were just talking about both things last night: budgeting and core work
we lead exciting lives!
I’ve never seen that blog before, Miz.
another one to add to my reader!
will you be blogging there all the time?
yep. that’s exactly how I started my core stuff (I think a search for core (here) will turn up more info.) & my core was beyond weak when I began.
The first (fingerquote) session (unFQ)? Ephemeral.
Beyond fleeting.
And I s.l.o.w.l.y. have been adding seconds.
I have gotten a few twitter dms and emails saying the backinskinnyjeans video is NOT beginner friendly.
That I need to back up a step and do a very beginner core video.
Is that correct?
It would all make sense to me in that, if we’re thinking of this in the financial & fitness sense, the very basics can’t be skipped.
Sorry for the longramble.
Congratulations to the winners!!
Question about the plank. When you do the plank on your elbows, does it matter where your elbows are? Should they be directly under your shoulders? I just did a plank and found my elbows pretty close together. Does it matter?
The plank is hard, if you’re a beginner couldn’t you drop down to your knees?
What’s going on behind you? Party tent? π
some thumbtyped thoughts:
I always have my forearms parallel and UNDERNEATH my chest.
the bulk of my weight is on my toes and forearms (which should alleviate the shoulder pain a few of you have emailed me about).
start with only a second or three (seriously) and strive MORE for the mind/body connection.
focus on the AH HA! of feeling your core tighten over striving for TIME HELD (yep, Ren Man. Im calling you out).
do not let your hips sag or your bumbum (as the tornado says) reach for the ceiling.
and yes.
message received.
you want a side plank video.
GOOD GUESS π but no…
Don’t mess with your camera man, MizFit.
I know all your secrets.
So does the Tornado.
And for the right price we might pen an unauthorized biography.
Ren. Man
Wow I got in and made a comment before there were 100 comments. This must be my lucky day. BTW, I posted my results today. π
Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog – I definitely think that the support I get from it is really helping me on my journey to get this body back to being healthy.
I’m BACK ON THE WAGON!!! lol
husband? that made me laugh. and I thought you were at the gym.
Fun, fun! And a comment from the Ren Man?
Now I know where you work out. π I work out there, too. So when I finally make it to Austin, we can go to the gym together. π
(we’re newbies there Robin. it was my hanukkah gift because they have DAYCARE!)
I saw one comment at BISJ where someone said they couldnt yet plank…which all brought me back to when I was first starting to work my core (way back in 2008. Im nothing if not late to the proverbial party) and began using the ONE LEG STAND.
while it does work balance it also allowed me to have that AH HA! moment of FEELING MY CORE TIGHTEN AND WORK.
of clicking mentally into my center.
I know.
but I ramble because I love.
YAY YOU!! YOU DID IT !! ITS DONE!!
You got your interview with Dr. Sears!!! I mean we all knew it was happenING but but now its happenED!!
Great questions!! You must have been so … flummoxed?
Congrats!
xo
I thought the same thing as Lisa.
Since he is a man you admire it is very neat you had the opportunity to ask him questions.
Shall we see if we can find out if he does the plank?
I need to start planking more.
Bea
Just staying loyal π
hopping over to check it out! And congrats to all the winners!
Thanks for the plank video, not to mention leading me to another interesting fitness blog. Can you help me with my finances now (lol)?
– Dave
Beyond excited here! Thank you again!
I enjoyed the video as well.
If I didn’t win do I still have to do the plank??
Okay, I just got down on my office floor (thank goodness no one walked in!) and did a 20 second plank. Is that good? That’s about 19 seconds more than I imagined I could do!
Thank you thank you thank you for the book!! I’m so excited and will be eternally grateful to you and Dr. Sears! =)
My belly aches after the plank I did last night. I’m guessing I’m not meant to quiver and shake while I do it!
Anyway, I’m only desperate to know how you “accidentally” booked a personal trainer!!!
aishchai? it felt like one of those ONLY ME moments…but I’m sure I’m not alone.
Post coming π
I’m sorry I”m TOTALLY off subject. I’m still on yesterdays post. When you say you choose cereal with lots of good fats and protien, besides The Zone cereal (which I’ve never seen in store…online only perhaps?), do you have other brands that you reccommend?
well, my oatmeal eating while she drives friend, NEXT WEDNESDAY we shall discuss all things breakfast while trying to stay zone’ish (as per a Viewer Mail).
I’m not being evasive π just thumbtyping on the run.
Miz! Got your thanks. You are most welcome π Let me know what you thought of it. I had lots of mixed feelings.
I planked!!
And I am like Jill above as I did it for longer than I thought I could too.
I shall plank again tomorrow.
Sara
You make it look easy! Thanks for the encouragement!
Amy
Love the plank but my limit is 30 seconds. It’s hard holdin’ all this arse in the air.
And call me crazy, but seeing the Ren.Man’s comment up in herre reminded me of when I was a teen gossiping on the phone with my friends and discovering my little brother had been listening in the whole time. I’d get all panicky wondering just how much he heard….
If he writes that unauthorized tell all book, I wanna know just how many Oreo’s are in a Miz serving; what’s the secret to her super shiny hair; and the locations of her other tattoos.
Kellie I FELT THAT SAME WAY!
went back and reread comment pronto π
who knew he ever read? duly noted.
and the super shiny hair?
(take a seat and please to enjoy)
i was at the gym this morning and a stranger came up to me and said:
I love your legs (nice. very sweet.)
glanced up at my hair (washed I might add and as goodasitgets) PAUSED and said:
if you only had my hair youd be set.
HILARIOUS HUH?
seriously.
I love women.
One of my FAVORITE comebacks from AsGoodAsItGets — please to use if you run into that beyotch again “If there’s a mental health organization that raises money for people like you, be sure to let me know.”
Hi, Miz:
First of all, great video in BSJ and great core exercise, I tried and did it for 30 seconds! I couldn’t believe it. As I commented in Steph’s blog, this is really helpful (particularly for those of us who are trying to get back in shape). Thank you.
About the comment this woman made, wow, is it really impossible to some women to say something nice and not show their insecurities 2 seconds later? Silly thing some women do.
And the comeback from As Good As It Gets that Kellie posted is hilarious, lol.
I am just waiting for you to comment on the monkeyball sandwich I posted today!
Going to check out your guest post!
Thanks for the hook up! Now I guess I have to do the zone, which is good I didn’t like the P90X diet anyways, no good for marathon running.
