January 15, 2009 at 5:19 amHey Mizfit,
I cracked up at your short but funny post! (And yes, I just HAD to sneak a peek at Mark’s abs, though I don’t even know Mark.) (And I also have to admit that after seeing that, I couldn’t concentrate on the rest of the post.) Thanks for the laughs!

Do you really do the lunging across the parkinglot? hilarious.
who films those videos when you are not in your house?
Can you show us how to do the stiff legged things you say made your glutes sore?
Erica says
January 15, 2009 at 5:22 amhahahha love your lunging to the bank. I always try to park further away when I can! It is nice to have the time to just walk and clear your head!!
Annette says
January 15, 2009 at 5:22 amI do this 😉 except the lunging 🙂 For sure, people in this little small town would think I lost it! You can get away with it though……..seriously………it made me laugh in a good way!

January 15, 2009 at 5:25 amoh and yes- protein powder in the pancakes would be fabulous. Sweet treat + protein= wonderful idea
FLG says
January 15, 2009 at 5:26 amStiff legged deadlifts! Unfortunately I’m not flexible enough in the hammies to do conventional clean deadlifts (I think that’s what they’re called), so I just started trying stiff legged deadlifts. The main problem I’m having is trying to focus on the glutes and hamstrings while also trying to focus on maintaining the straight back 😀 Should I just go with no weight till I can get that sorted?
FLG says
January 15, 2009 at 5:27 amSorry, I just realised this is probably the wrong post to ask that question in 😀
MizFit says
January 15, 2009 at 5:34 amFLG? I am ALL ABOUT the weight free until you can do the mind/body AH HA! and feel an exercise in the right place.
additionally with STIFF LEGGED DEADS I get so so so sore if I havent done them in a while my first few sets are always really really light.
(uh, thats a rambling YES to your question)
kim says
January 15, 2009 at 5:35 amcan you link the exercise you are talking about?
is there a video somewhere?
MizFit says
January 15, 2009 at 5:38 amthis is the exercise CLICK HERE
and, again, (hello dead horse! it’s MizFit and Im here to beat you!) do the exercise first w/out weights to get the FEEL and then add lightlight weights and progress from there.
questions?

January 15, 2009 at 6:57 amOK the lunging to the bank made me smile! 🙂 I couldn’t laugh because last week I lunged to and from my mailbox in my apartment complex. 🙂 Nobody saw me, so I tell myself. I’ll have to try the stiff legged dead lifts, that looks like a great butt workout. I was a big Linda Hamilton T2 fan, talk about badass!!! 🙂
Alissa says
January 15, 2009 at 6:59 amI’m not sure my small town can handle me lunging in public. yet.
Miz? If you come here and do it with me I will.
I shall start small and lunge around the house.
MizFit says
January 15, 2009 at 7:03 amnatalia?
loved T2. I have a cell from the movie hanging in my office and linda (back then anyway…not sure about now as methinks she has grown more passive (life not muscles) with age. need to read up on the Hamilton) was the reason I started lifting.
and alissa? youre going to lunge around your house to destress in between writing out checks/pay bills. yes?
send the airplane ticket and Im on my way to your small town.
WAIT.
is it cold there?
you may need to come to TEXAS.

January 15, 2009 at 7:38 amTee-hee…Miz, you are EVERYWHERE and I love it!
Gotta try the deadlift, somehow I missed this one when it was on the first time. That was a rough month or so for me so maybe that’s why. But it looks awesome and I’m always looking for glute exercises! (Sitting on them all day at a desk means I need to work them extra hard to combat the gravitational spread.)

MizFit says
January 15, 2009 at 8:13 amI know, Dr. J.
how HIP would I have been to say my fave exercise was flipping tires or using a sledgehammer or some such.
Evan? Here’s a link to ALL my videos (the dumbbell presses and dumbbell flyes are in there. the barbell squats are asofyet unfilmed.).

(dont ask about the chickenbus. being silly bit me in the arse as I can now NEVER change the name w/out re-uploading all the videos. wanna offer to do that for me? :))

January 15, 2009 at 9:54 amholy ABS Batman!
Wow.
Wow.

I’m a huge fan of the chest flyes/presses as well—thanks for the reminder to do them more often. 🙂

January 15, 2009 at 9:58 amJust started doing barbell squats. I’m using fairly light weights (at the moment.. they seem to need to go up every week!), and I’m using the squat box instead of the Smith. Find needing to concentrate on balancing the bar is a great way to focus.
(I’m finding the same thing in doing BB benchpress… concentration is prime when you’re working alone!). Here’s I’d much rather use the Smith.. but it’s usually hard to get.
And damn, Mark has got fine abs! Distracted me completely for a while…

January 15, 2009 at 10:34 amHoly crap look at those abs! And you, boring? Never, MizFit.
I need to do more work on my arms 🙂

January 15, 2009 at 10:39 amI park in the furthest spaces and run to and from my car. You look so cute doing your parking lot lunges I’m feeling just about bold enough for that, too. Ever do ’em with Tornado on your back? Go mommy go!
MizFit says
January 15, 2009 at 10:39 amI lovelove the flat bench barbell as well Deb.
Makes me feel like Im Ms. Olympia (or Linda Hamilton or…who is even roughtoughandBUFF these days as a woman?)
I guess mark is doing something RIGHT with his PALEO LIVING!
hmmmmm 🙂
and I guess I DO lead a fear based life, tfh.
I will run (ok jog) across a lot with the Tornado on my back but lunging? Im afraid Ill break a hip.
Kara from MamaSweat says
January 15, 2009 at 10:55 amYour arms look as good as Mark’s abs! And those three exercises—yeah, my standards too. We’re both boring then. Obviously why we like each other…

January 15, 2009 at 8:13 pmAre you a Monty Python fan by chance?
My son saw me watching your video and tipped me off to a non-exercise stress reducer. The Monty Python Ministry of Silly Walks skit is hilarious- and laughter is healthy stress relief, right? (I watched it on youtube).
s says
January 16, 2009 at 1:11 amlol, i was about to mention the ministry of silly walks skit, and i’m glad someone else did too. that’s what your video blog reminded me of 🙂 (it was also informative! walking is a total stress reliever. and i guess lunging is kind of fun in its own way..)
MizFit says
January 16, 2009 at 5:02 amok I need to revisit that skit as, for some reason, Im not a huge MP fan.

January 16, 2009 at 7:47 amHUGE fan, Miz Fit … in fact, I’m working on my dream board right now, based on your vlog.
But I wanted to let you know — on the site that you linked to, the first link to your page (the one about stiff-leg deadlifts) does not work.
