February 10, 2009 at 2:27 amI love this stuff. MM, its good. I tend to mix it with some other juice (pure 100% juice) like blueberry juice, or some of the other goodies I find here in the store…that I’ve unfortunately never seen at the stores in the states. But, that keeps my supply going for a couple days…as those things are small and so expensive!!
My mom..the dear, patient loving person she is would ALWAYS stock our house with pomegranates when they were in season growing up. She would take all the seeds out, put them on the table and my brother and I would duke it out (almost literally) for who got the most!
Pomegranates are such a fond childhood memory of mine. Love the symbolism associated as well. thanks for sharing!
Hope you have a great day!

February 10, 2009 at 2:28 amWell, again, I can’t win this, but I’ve seen it in the grocery stores. I’ll have to give it a try. What intrigues me the most is the anti-oxidant properties in the POM juice. I can’t believe you used to get the juice from the pomegranate yourself! That’s dedication!

February 10, 2009 at 3:13 amOh, and antioxidents are a good reason for drinking the juice!

February 10, 2009 at 4:49 amI haven’t tried this yet OR pomegranates.
If I won I would want the antioxidants to live longer and I’d sneak some to my hubby for other reasons LOL.

February 10, 2009 at 5:12 amHee Hee Miz said erectile function. OK how’d you say that with a straight face?
For me cardio health and the anti-oxidants. I love pomegranates but as you said it’s hard to get the juice out of those seeds!

February 10, 2009 at 6:11 amIs that a new tattoo on your arm?
I am glad to hear that you like it. For some reason when products are spread all over the internet as freebies it makes me trust them less.
As though they are almost begging us to buy them?
(I wont win now will I? LOL.)
Marianne says
February 10, 2009 at 6:14 amI too have fond memories of eating these as a child. My great grandmother spoke no English, and she would give these to us as entertainment while the grown ups chattered away. We like to cut the POM with soda water and make a spritzer.
Linda says
February 10, 2009 at 6:22 amI have never tried the fruit. I have tried a few products with the fruit juice in them though.
I’m interested in heart health and antioxidante bennies of pomegranites.
Hugh tried them at school and seed okay with the fruit. He could use some healthier alternatives to what he usually drinks.
Make it a great day.
dragonmamma/naomi w. says
February 10, 2009 at 6:26 amA person can never get too many antioxidants, right?
Whenever I eat pomegranates, I go outside and put on an old tie-dye shirt and sweats. It’s just not possible to be spotless with these things, which explains how God caught Adam and Eve.
Cheri says
February 10, 2009 at 6:28 amI love pomegranites! I would love to win the giveaway for the heart-healthy benefits. It’s just too messy to try and deal with all those little seeds!

February 10, 2009 at 6:30 ama few thoughts:
Not a new tattoo but a reallylonglasting Steelers rubon which I found (happily) to be shower resistant.
Interesting perspective on the freebies which are all over.
Anyone else?
My routine? Did you email me too? Under a different name? 😉
More on that next week.
Now I return you to your prostate AND d’mamas perfect idea about the tiedye…

February 10, 2009 at 7:45 amCan I go with all of the above? Except for erectile function. I don’t think that’s meant for me.
I love pomegranate juice; in fact, I have a bottle exactly like the one you’re holding in the mini-fridge about four feet away at the moment. I love the health benefits – of course! – but even more, I honestly just love the taste. My original reason for trying it was for joint health, though, actually. There is some indication that it might be helpful in fighting arthritis. I have the worst family history for arthritis, so I’m always looking for tools to help there.
I used to add it to my hot water when I was “test driving” the Chopra Ayurvedic plan, and it was wonderful. Now I just drink it straight or mix it with a little apple juice or hot tea. I’ll bet it would make awesome fruit juice popsicles too…haven’t tried that yet though. 🙂

February 10, 2009 at 7:49 amI love pomegranates! They are so tasty, but after awhile I get tired of munching on the seeds. For some reason, though, I’ve never tried Pom before.
For me, heart health is the biggest concern. There’s a history of disease in my family, and I’m doing what I can to prevent that on my end!

February 10, 2009 at 8:14 amI’m getting some of this to review also. Excited about it.
I had no idea that a pomegranate was the “apple” in the garden. Kind of gives a naughty feeling about the fruit!

February 10, 2009 at 8:51 amI’m a little childish in that I had to read all the comments to see if any one fessed up to wanting it for their erectile health.
Me? I love finding good sources of antioxidants and for heart health. I have a genetic thing that gives me high-ish cholesterol and am trying of late to keep my heart extra healthy.
ALSO – my father had prostate cancer a few years ago and had to undergo surgery and radiation. He is well now – but I would encourage any man in my life to drink this for that benefit! Thanks for the education and rec!
Angie (Losing It and Loving It) says
February 10, 2009 at 8:54 amDefinitely for heart health and the antioxidants. I only tried it once and can’t quite remember what it tasted like but I recall the price tag LOL Would love to get the chance to try it again. Thanks

So — do you eat the entire seed when you eat a pomegranate or do you suck them clean and spit the seed out? Personally, I spit 🙂

February 10, 2009 at 9:42 amI love Pom and have some daily along with the “greens” that my doc suggested I drink daily – it is a great add to the drink other than just water.
When I was a kid growing up a neighbor had a tree and we used to just pick those babies off and eat them like crazy… DAMN did my mom hate all the stains they left on the clothes..OOps!!

February 10, 2009 at 9:44 amI will admit, I like the juice, but really never paid attention to all those great benefits – antioxidants and caridovascular help? Yes, please.

February 10, 2009 at 9:52 amI drink it like wine at night too, miz, while my husband has his daily glass of red. I think it’s a great product for non-imbibers who don’t want to stand out because it also looks so wine-like (and makes us drunk w/ pomgoodness). Anyway, I wish I could keep getting free case after free case, but count me out of this contest.

February 10, 2009 at 10:32 amI tried POM juice in December while I was in the midst of my pomegranate spree and loved it! I get no antioxidants from red wine anymore since I stopped drinking five years ago, so that would be what I would use it for. I would love to win the case!
Melissa Henning says
February 10, 2009 at 10:37 amFor me–the antioxidants. My new years resolution was (is) to exercise everyday in 2009 and today is day 41!
For my hubby and son–the heart. Heart disease runs very heavily in my hubby’s family (his father has it, his gpa had it), and we are trying to prevent it in my hubby’s generation, and my sons :).
Pomegranates rock and so does MizFit!

February 10, 2009 at 10:37 amLove pomegranates, but there’s some flavor in the juice I don’t like. I think I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t like it though!

February 10, 2009 at 11:07 amPOM IS wonderful! So much easier to pour a glass of juice than end up with a kitchen blasted with pomegranate juice when I try to dismantle one to eat!
Lisa says
February 10, 2009 at 11:08 ami love POM juice, and we pick up a couple of bottles about once a month on our grocery run. Only once a month, because i find it very expensive…but oh so worth it. Also, i tend to water it down a bit cuz it can be a bit strong for me somedays.
but it is yummy and although i can’t win it, i can, and DO buy it!! good one MizFit!
deb says
February 10, 2009 at 11:18 amI LOVE Poms! And, when I can’t get the fruit itself, I love to drink juice. -with some orange juice and vodka it’s a wonderful cocktail!

February 10, 2009 at 11:27 amI’ve tried this and love it. I consider it a real treat and make it last as long as possible. Sometimes I add a little soda water to it. We also eat pomegranates, but they’re a lot of work! I would drink it for antioxidants and cardiovascular health reasons.
MizFit says
February 10, 2009 at 11:38 amOH, and Farmwife? I shall resist the double entendre.
I eat the whole seed 🙂
Miz.

February 10, 2009 at 11:41 amAntioxidants! POM is also great for when you want just a little something sweet, but are trying to keep it healthy.
Lainie (Fitness Fig) says
February 10, 2009 at 12:23 pmEven though I’m a fig, I have branched out into other fruits and I dig the pomegranate juice. (And technically the fig is not even actually a fruit but an inverted–how cool is that?)
I don’t need a case of the stuff because I got my own case from POM–though the hubby has been drinking so much of my stash that I guess I could do with more. I didn’t even tell him the prostate or erectile benefits; he just likes it. He’s like my kids–sometimes it’s better not to tell him it’s good for him.
Lainie (Fitness Fig) says
February 10, 2009 at 12:24 pmOops, somehow didn’t finish my parenthetical thought up there–I was trying to say the fruit of a fig is an inverted flower rather than an actual fruit.

February 10, 2009 at 2:12 pmOkay, finally got to watch the entire video.
Very cute.
I need POM for erectile dysfunction but not my erectile.
It would have to be a gift.
Anyway, do you have any proof of this? Or was it in their literature?
(just kidding)
Don’t send me any POM. I’m going green.

February 10, 2009 at 2:41 pmI absolutely adore Pom! It tastes so good that I don’t care that it is good for me! I sip it straight out of the bottle. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm….
Kira says
February 10, 2009 at 2:53 pmI loooove pomegranates, but you can’t always buy them. Plus, I have to hide them from my sons since my FATHER showed them how you can pinch them between finger and thumb to make a cool, brilliant red, juice cannon attack. HONESTLY.
So instead I drink the juice, but it is pricy. I am facinated by the concept of antioxidents (sounds like MAGIC FOOD), but I should be focusing on heart health more, statistically speaking.
You should give ME the juice, because I am currently gestating a human, and would share the antioxidant (OK, and heart health) benefits with her.

February 10, 2009 at 4:00 pmHusband tried Pom several years ago and brought some home. I usually stick to water, but it was tasty.
As to a sub for wine, I never thought of that. Good idea, since I can’t drink wine. I bet it’d be fab in recipes replacing wine, too.
I’m always up for healthy. 🙂

February 10, 2009 at 4:32 pmI love Pom juice mixed with champagne. Yumm. But, I’m especially intrigued by Valerie’s comments above about the arthritis. I’m gonna start drinking for that reason (and the heart/antioxidant things too) even without the champagne. (Altho the vodka/OJ/pom sounds very intriguing, too.) Thanks for the answer about the “new tattoo.” I had the same question.

February 10, 2009 at 5:02 pmAnother one who has enjoyed the pomegranate juice (not sure if it was POM or not) but in a less than healthy way.

February 10, 2009 at 5:25 pmAntioxidants all the way. Cancer runs high in the family so I’ve been working on getting my veggies as you know. Thus, a little POM can go a long way.

February 10, 2009 at 5:28 pmYum, yum! Pomegranate juice is WONDERFUL! And so much easier to consume than eating the fruit itself (though that IS a fun adventure with kids – they love biting the seeds to have them squirt inside their mouths – thankfully they haven’t figured out Kira’s kids’ approach to the seeds!). And the availability of it year round is also a winning element, if the taste doesn’t already win you over!
My uncle has been drinking the stuff for ages – his soldiers used to tease that he was drinking liquid gold becuase it can be so pricey. Didn’t stop him from drinking some every day . . . he’s one of the healthiest and most fit person I know.
