Ok, People, here’s the deal.
Today’s post is twotwotwotreatsinone (anyone?).
Yes, you get the mind-expanding facetime (wink) & you also have the opportunity to win the same camera with which the video was filmed.
(I’ll let you chew on that for a moment.)
Did you notice a difference in this week’s facetime video quality?
Were you able to see even more clearly the duffel bags under Miz’ eyes?
MizFit was rolling in high-def. with the Vado HD Pocket Video Camera & I have to say Im pretty dang smitten.
Smitten enough to have my video-heart stolen away from my old stand-by the Flip camera.
Smitten enough to bestow upon it this:
The Vado is small, easy to use (I’m all about products where it takes longer to open the package than it does to understand them), records in HD+, HD, & VGA, and contains EIGHT MB of memory (which equates to about 2 hours of HD and 8 hours of VGA).
What did I like best about it? The interface. For some reason I just found the Vado far easier to use/’get’ than the comparable Flip camera.
The Ren Man Cameraman wholeheartedly agreed and, as we all know, if the cameraman aint happy aint no MizFit videos getting filmed.
The drawback to the camera? Lets just say I was a little perplexed at the fact that it comes with an headphone jack but, when aforementioned phones are shoved in, the screen immediately fades to black & you only hear the audio.
Not so much a drawback as a befuddledmeback.
(**ATTENTION SKIMMERS HERE’S WHERE THE FREEBIE STUFF KICKS IN**)
How mightcould you enter to win the camera?
It’s simple:
Lay your 10.10.10 plan upon me.
How would you utilize the Vado HD Pocket Camera to help you focus on living life with the backdrop of getting to your goals in the next 10 minutes, 10 months & 10 years?
How would you use the camera to be sure your actions serve to bring you closer to the life-plan youve created for yourself and, as a result, find yourself arriving where you visualize yourself being when it turns 2019.
Details people.
Gimmie reasons.
The winner will be announced on 2.23.09
USA & Canada only. (I know. I tried.)

February 16, 2009 at 2:13 amFor one, it would help me to video my exercise and see where I’m getting my form wrong. For two, it could be used to make 3D progress pics! (And I’d still be using it to video my kids, pets, etc. LOL!)

February 16, 2009 at 2:18 amAnd even though I plan on hitting my goal weight this year, I also plan on maintaining this healthy lifestyle. Part of what helps me stay on track is my blogging, and I plan on expanding my blogging to other areas of my life as well. I can see myself using videos in some of that.

February 16, 2009 at 2:20 amI actually saw this facetime clip on your YouTube channel a little earlier. I’ve actually already been noodling on the 10.10.10 concept since seeing it.
When I saw “10.10.10” in the title, I initially thought perhaps you were talking about Oct, 10, 2010. After watching the video, I then “got” the concept of 10 minutes, 10 months, 10 years. Somehow though, I still couldn’t get the Oct. 10, 2010 concept out of my head.
I was lamenting in a video entry on my blog yesterday about how I’ve been struggling with motivation lately. I really just seem to have lost my MoJo and haven’t had much luck in getting it back. So, I’m taking up the 10.10.10 challenge with my own little added twist. Here’s my plan:
Since I have about 130 pounds I want to lose to reach my goal, I’m going to be shooting for doing that by October 10, 2010. That’s just under 20 months away which equates out to losing about 6.5 pounds per month. That seems like a very realistic rate of loss which should help ensure I keep the weight off once I lose it.
10 Minutes – The amount of time I’ll wait before eating something when I’m tempted.
10 Months – This basically takes us to the holiday season and I want to be 65 pounds lighter by then.
10 Years – If I stick with these goals, I’ll be a sexy & sassy 55 year old woman. Woo Hoo!
Thanks for yet another wonderful topic to make us all think. I definitely feel a video response coming on. LOL
Thanks for the review on the Vado, I have a Flip Ultra right now and have been drooling over some of the portable HD cameras that are out now. If I win it, I’ll definitely be using it to chronicle my journey from now through 10.10.10 as I pursue my goal to health & wellness.

February 16, 2009 at 4:02 amI’m not sure that I think ten years into the future, except in the vaguest sense- in ten years I want to be fit, healthy, active, and happy.
The ten minutes thing really got me though. I suddenly started thinking about what I’m doing right now, and found myself fixing my posture and sucking those tummy muscles in! I just need to have regular check ins to keep seeing what I need to do in the next ten minutes.
As for the ten months thing, I’m starting to believe that in ten months time, I will be very close to my goal weight. I’m starting to feel like I have the “big things” in my life going in the right direction to keep me healthy and happy, and everything else is fine tuning!

February 16, 2009 at 5:01 amMiz I fear that since you added your lovely seal I will want to purchase everything you give it to.
Although I have noticed not everything you review receives it which I also like.
Whether I win this or not I needed the reminder to keep in mind tiny choices (from skipping my exercise to eating the extra slice of cake) inpact me for longer than I think.
Cammy says
February 16, 2009 at 5:14 amHonestly? I would use a camera like that to shoot video of the gibbons at the zoo. They’re not contributing to my goals at all. 🙂
I do like the concept of thinking of each action individually as a positive movement or a potential negative one. Mindfulness…it’s a gift.

February 16, 2009 at 5:20 amHi Miz.

She makes all the right choices to reach he bigger and smaller goals and I am so proud of her.

10 min: to film my thoracic mobilization video (again) for my blog!
10 months: to film our travel adventures this year, 120 minutes, 12 trips= 10 min per trip, that would be a great treasure!
10 years: hm, this is a tough one. It would be so great to have the memories of blog entries, roundtheworld travel, pooch antics, career success, life success.. all at my finger tips…and in HD!
have a good one!

February 16, 2009 at 5:44 amI honestly don’t have a 10/10/10 right now. Working on some other thangs! What would I use the camera for? To catch my little man telling stories about a lion with wild eye excitement. Catching him doing a silly dance or playing on his own. Definitely get him on film using the all time fav word “whobody”!!!

February 16, 2009 at 6:00 amSo cool Miz! A camera allows one to do what you do! Share their journey and offer thoughts and ideas that may assist us in bettering (<–word?) ourselves. Of course not everyone is as photogenic but we might just give it a try. Always moving forward….fantastic!

February 16, 2009 at 6:06 amI need a video camera badly! I am working towards certifying in a new group fitness program and I would like to tape myself to check my form and direction delivery! I also have to send in a video of me teaching an entire class to certify and I currenty have no way to tape it!!
Near term- I want to focus on running and upper body conditioning
Medium term- I want to focus on a cleaner overall diet and workout program I can maintain
Long term- I want to continue to teach classes and eventually pick up a weights class

February 16, 2009 at 6:39 amhey morning Peeps (my morning anyway).
I was mulling this concept last night after I hit the PUBLISH button & realized for me its the TEN MTHS which is what I’m often missing.
The ten minutes I’m pretty good with setting my MizFitself up for success.
The TEN YEARS as well (hell, I just wanna be here and standing upright and ABLE to shove my luggage in the overhead bids)
But the middle one—the ten MONTHS— is where I need to focus.
Ponder.

February 16, 2009 at 7:00 amOh my gosh I’ve been drooling over this camera for a while now! What a fantastic giveaway! Thanks so much for doing this, MizFit!
10 minutes: if I had the Vado, in the next 10 minutes I’d use it as a reality check on my form as I start day 3 of P90x.
10 months: for my husband to use as I finish my first 5k (major life goal for a one-lung wonder). If it’s really HD it might pick up my tears/smiles.
10 years: to film my family & myself skiing/hiking/running together. It’s all about the long-term for me and being there and being ACTIVE for/with the boys.

February 16, 2009 at 7:00 amThank you for this. It puts things in perspective. I’m always coming up with fitness goals and they’re usually unattainable because they’re not realistic for me . Thinking 10.10.10. is really helpful.
10 minutes consider walking not driving ( i live where this is possible)
10 months get back into my healthy routine of hiking, etc. with friends and climbing
10 years – tough – maintain my vegetarian lifestyle with hopes of being vegan
Leamur says
February 16, 2009 at 7:06 amIn 10 minutes, I need to be making a dent in my homework that’s due tonight, so I don’t have to do it all after work.
In 10 months, I want to be comfortable with weight training, instead of just scared I’ll hurt myself. (long back + hx of MVA injury of said back = fear of moving heavy things. except furniture. I move furniture all the time. But just sliding it on the floor, y’know, no lifting.)
In 10 years, I want to have maintained my desired BMI for, say, 9 years, and I want to be able to run for fun. It hasn’t been fun since I was, like, 10. No stamina.
The camera’s no help with the homework, but the visual feedback about lifting and running should be helpful. And it’s cool. 🙂

February 16, 2009 at 7:27 amI would have loved to have this thing in my pocket a few days ago when I was running and saw that danged coyote. Now I’ve got the experience, but no *proof*.
Seriously, one of the best things about pursuing fitness outdoors is the experiences you can collect. Having something that you can carry around in your pocket to capture them provides a bit more motivation to be out there.
Lora says
February 16, 2009 at 7:33 amWhen the kids were younger we always had the video camera out…caprturing every nuance. They grew up…the camera died. My memories had to be recorded in my mind after that. Not a really reliable thing these days!
So how would a new camera fit into my life in the next 10 minutes?
Maybe remind me to stop, slow down and look at life happening around me.
Next 10 months?
Hopefully seeing myself on film again I’d look different in the next 10 months – you know..the whole reality check thing!
The next 10 years? Lots of wonderful memories to delight upon when ever the whim surfaces. And of course still using the afore mentioned 10 minutes to keep storing new ones!
Katy says
February 16, 2009 at 7:34 am10 Minutes: I would jump in with a new video professing my undying love for MizFit and explaining why I think video is the most powerful tool on the Internet. Yes, it sounds like I’m sucking up, but truthfully, it is a goal of mine to be TRANSPARENT when it comes to thanking people that make a difference in my life. It’s the whole pay it forward thing, you know?
10 Months: In 13 months, I’ll be turning 30 and I’m already having some of those cliche moments — what am I doing with my life? Did I make the right choices? Where will I be when I turn 40, 50, 60? So I would use the fab cam to make a weekly video, counting down to the big 3-0, detailing all of the great things I have in life. Sort of like a gratitude board, but in video form.
10 Years: I’d like to think that I’ll be using the camera to document the amazing times that my husband and I are having with out (currently non-existent) children. Part of my getting-healthy goals over the last 3 years has been to be healthy and fit for when I am pregnant and raising small kids, so that they have a role model to look up to. So the camera would help me record their childhoods, and let them know how much they were loved.
I know whoever wins the camera will do amazing things, so best of luck to all!

February 16, 2009 at 7:49 amDeep questions!
First off, I wish I could go back 10 years and have these thoughts!
Before I eat something, I need to ask myself how it will make me feel in 10 minutes, happy or regretful!
Before I take a nap in the afternoon a few times a week, I should think to myself how much better off I will be 10 months from now if I would use that time to be active (and remind myself how great I will feel after too).
Now, I need to think to myself that if I accomplish and succeed with these goals above, how much younger, stronger, and healthier I will be in 10 years. I could also be happy about the money I will be saving from the lack of health care costs!!

February 16, 2009 at 8:01 amYou know what I noticed first about that video? How absolutely spotless that floor is! Is that your house? Good heavens, does that mean that if I win the camera and do any filming in my house, I have to make sure I clean up every little speck of dirt?
That 10.10.10 plan is interesting. Let me see:
10 minutes: I’ll be attacking the pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen.
10 months: Pretty much the same as today, but perhaps a little faster, a little stronger, a little more agile.
10 years: Same as the 10 month plan, with perhaps a few more wrinkles. And I really, really hope my son has moved out of the house by then.

10 months- to keep all this weight I’ve lost(and hopefully continue to lose) off
10 years- to be a healthy and fit 50 yr old.

February 16, 2009 at 8:03 amMust give this plenty of thought. Usually the 10 minutes is easy. Forex, in 10 minutes part of my daily exercise will be done, or in 10 minutes I’ll be finished the boring household task.
Ten years is easy in that I intend to be fit, heathy, and have set foot on at least one other new-to-me continent by then. I have only Africa and Antarctica to go and I want to do it while I can fully enjoy it.
The mid-term goal is the one I rarely think about except when writing. I’d like to have a ms or two ready for sending out. Anything else, well, take it as it comes.

10 years: going by the title of “Dr.”, having a kid, using my time off (raising said kid) to write a book (if I haven’t completed my first one by then). Maintaining 20 pull-ups, hopefully being able to do one-handed ones too.

They are growing up so fast and I want to save some of these memories. I would also use it to check my running form and see what I could be doing to make my strides more efficient.
I’m going to try to make a more conscious effort to focus on at least the first 2 parts of 10-10-10; right now a lot is changing in my life and I haven’t yet figured out my 10-year plan!

February 16, 2009 at 8:49 ami love the idea of taking time to examine the motivations behind our actions. but i am a little confused – if i do something that helps me out 10 minutes from now, but not 10 years, is that good or bad? OR is this more about ousting pointless thoughts and actions that wouldn’t help me 10 min from now, let alone 10 mos or years? I like that notion – so much of the worrying I do will only HURT me 10 min from now, and will likely hurt my health 10 years from now. I like journalling (Ok, I’m growing to like it) – i wonder if video-ing myself would help me see how crazy I can be?

How will what I’m planning to do in the next ten months serve to bring me ever closer to LIVING that statement as well.
How are my vision board my personal mission statement my family mission statement etc. all working in concert to bring me closer to *all that* coming to fruition.
And how might I employ the medium of video on the journey.

This camera sounds awesome. Am at the wrong computer today so I can’t view your video. Am imagining excellent quality tho 😉
10 minutes is the time it would take for me to film myself dancing to the Arctic Monkeys (and then being able to view it afterward to know how NOT to dance when I’m out with friends)
10 months is the time it’ll take me to film my kitchen adventures and cooktrastophes for that book that’s coming out (I’ll turn it into a cooking show and make millions)
10 years is for documenting my global trip to visit countries around the world and research the health in each of these places. Then to share it with all those countries so that the word is out for how much our health is in danger no matter what country we live in.

Second: your hair looks FAB (flattery will get me everywhere, right?)
Third, my 10.10.10 plan:
10 minutes: I will make a healthy, wholesome breakfast instead of “day off pancakes.”
10 months: I will be married, and rather than settling into the “spread” that happens after many people are wed, I will continue to reach my goals.
10 years: Hopefully I’ll be a mom, bestowing healthy eating habits on my children

February 16, 2009 at 11:24 am10 minutes: Film parts of various runs that inspire my continuation along this road of fitness
10 months: Compile a slide show of the beauty in my run-routes along with slides of my progress…inspiration
10 years: Video others who join the journey of fitness with me so that they can also find inspiration in their own progess and lives

February 16, 2009 at 11:42 amI have never heard of this concept before and I like it!
10 min: Run 10 more minutes, 10 more minutes of strength training, 10 more minutes of playing with my kids, clean for 10 minutes. I can do anything for 10 minutes and relax later.
10 months: If I de-junked for 10 minutes a day, my life would be free of clutter in 10 months!
10 years: This is hard for me. Is it bad to want a whole new lifestyle??? I just wanna be healthy and happy in my own skin.
As far as the camera, I would be more present in my life. I love turning the camera around on myself, so why not a video?

February 16, 2009 at 12:23 pmSo much to ponder!
10 minutes:
Tidy up my immediate area (as I do every day)
Run a mile – more or less.
Stretch more
Find something to be joyful/thankful about.
10 months:
Walk/run without limping.
Be completely pain free.
Be able to do a full on weight training workout again, and train for more half marathons and other runs at a better pace.
Continue to find something to be joyful/thankful about.
10 years:
I’ll be pushing 60! As someone who lives in the here and now, it’s hard to plan/think THAT far ahead, especially when things can change within a blink of an eye. I can only hope that I will have my health, I will still be able to be active as I am now (or maybe even more so) … and that I will continue to find something to be joyful/thankful about.
The camera will be utilized in capturing those joyful moments, and that’s something I will be thankful for!
PEACE

February 16, 2009 at 12:24 pmThis camera would help me in so many ways. I really want yoga to become and stay a major component of my life. Now, tomorrow, always as I have seen both physical and mental changes in doing a daily practice. I would love to film myself to see if I’m doing poses correctly. I would love love love to do this. What an awesome giveaway – thanks Mizfit!

February 16, 2009 at 12:25 pmMy life plan for the next 10 years is to become a successful blogger/online writer. I PLAN to make a full-time income through blogging and believe that using updated technology can only further propel my dreams. I also want to open my readers eyes to the possibilities and world issues all around us. Having a video camera will make me accessible and help make my passion known.
10 minutes: It would help me to expand my reach, by offering a new technology and new way of reaching the masses.
10 months: With this video camera I can open up my readers eyes (literally) to the plight of the American Homeless; I can take my readers with me to see my nephew being born; I can report directly from BlogHer’09. I will be able to use my camera to take my readers places they may never have been and open their eyes to issues they may not have been away of. I can expand my readership 10 fold in the next 10 months. I can use it to video tape sessions for the other Ezines I write for also and expand their readership, thus helping them.
10 years: In using this video camera, I can pave the way to have the kind of readership and sponsorship which will help me achieve my full time income. I will be able to interview founders and presidents of charities and missions from all over the US and World, thus bringing new light to their works. I will be able to show my readers first hand the human and world issues that so many mothers/fathers/grandparents refuse to or just can’t see.
Thank you for this opportunity to make a difference in so many people’s lives.

February 16, 2009 at 12:46 pmThis is a very thought-provoking topic for me right now. I have been doing a lot of living in the past… 10 years in the past before I married my ex-husband, before I became ill with an auto-immune disease, and before I gained 100+ pounds. I have not been living the life that I have now, but have been mourning the life that I *think* I had 10 years ago (hindsight being 20/20, that is).
If I were to win the video camera, I would use it to enhance my 10-10-10 in the following ways:
10 Minutes: Capture vignettes of where my life is RIGHT NOW. It is all I really have, and frankly there are many great moments happening all of the time that I am not fully appreciating. Just like looking at old pictures, I think that watching these video shorts will reinforce my appreciation of my current life and help me to be more comfortable with who I am right now.
10 Months: In 10 months, I hope to hit a goal in terms of weight loss. I am down about 85 pounds now, and my long-term goal is to lose about 50 more. I want to capture the journey there and publish it on my blog for others who might stumble upon it looking for inspiration (just like I do when I come to your site). I also want to document it for myself so that I can look back at all of the hard work that I put into this process when the tough times come, as they always do.
10 Years: I want to capture the fact that, if I really live by the 10-10-10 principle, my life in 10 years is going to be far more amazing than the one I think I had, the one that I have been mourning, the one I lived 10 years ago. Here’s to the next ten years (and the next, and the next…).

February 16, 2009 at 12:55 pmI don’t know. This might totally fry my head. On the whole, I’m a person who has a hard time actually being present-oriented at all… so thinking long-term is sort of my forté. But there’s a difference between thinking long-term and actually taking constructive steps that will get you to the long term.
I have a cold, so in the next 10 minutes, I just want to stay awake and not cough my head off. 🙂
In the next 10 months… I want to actually maintain the weight loss momentum I’ve been picking up lately. But more than that, I just want to be happier. I would trade a great deal for a little more sense of well-being. I am not sure what steps would move me in that way. (Damn, I think about these kinds of questions, and I just want to cry. This is Not A Good Thing.)
10 years… too far. Too many scary things between now and then.

February 16, 2009 at 12:57 pmWonderful contest idea!
One thing I aim to do with my blog is combine both food + art. With this video camera, I could add multi-media to that mix in some fun and different forms.
Ten Mins: I could create a video bookmaking workshop where I’d walk viewers through the steps of making both an edible and non-edible book (I am working on this currently – though in written form!)
Ten Months: By working on regular features, I could attract those who are both artists and foodies to work together. Learn how to play with your food. Make it work for you both artistically and in a healthy way!
Ten Years: Maybe this would actually turn into something. Maybe people wouldn’t look at cooking healthy food as a chore when it can be fun. If I could touch a few people in ten years, I’d be pretty happy.
Regarding more “personal goals” over professional goals… In ten years I see myself juggling a family, a writing career and a healthy lifestyle. This camera would help me document all three.

February 16, 2009 at 1:53 pmThe short 10.10.10 concept is:
10 seconds – to complete this post
10 minutes – to prepare a salad for lunch
10 hours – to be in blissful sleep again.
Now as for the real approach:
10 days – to focus on no processed sugars in the body at all.
10 months – to arrive at optimum levels of cholesterol/blood pressure/BMI
10 years – to plan for a life that will be fuller since the completion of first steps 10 & 10

February 16, 2009 at 1:58 pm10 minutes: I would love to start making some video entries on my blog. Above and beyond pictures, it’s a fantastic way to chronicle my physical progress.
10 months: I’ll be engaged by then. No doubt about it, this V-day has shown me that I love this girl more and more every day. I intend to graduate, start a career, and get her a ring.
10 years: kiddies!
Seriously. I’m starting to see my life laid out before me and I’m really loving where it is headed. I think it would be criminal for me not to document where I’ve come from for my future generation to see.

10 years-hard to say (half way to retirement?) I tend to think we underestimate where we could be in ten years…I want to still be in uniform, in as good or better shape than now, and showing those young officers how to do it.

February 16, 2009 at 3:37 pmI love this. I love this so much that I wrote in black marker on a white page and posted it to my vision board. 10. 10. 10.
10 minutes. 10 minutes I will take whenever I think of eating/ordering anything. I will ask myself, “Self, do you want to be videotaped eating/drinking that?”
10 months. Well, actually 7 months. 7 months before myself and some girlfriends walk 60km in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. (that’s 37 miles). The camera would be awesome to have with me as its small, and i can make a video montage of our adventure and success!
10 years. I’ll be 50. I’ll be fit, and healthy. I’ll own my own little place of business where people who are overweight and lost can get support and learn things like yoga and pilates for THEIR bodies. And I’d use the camera to videotape MzFit helping me cut the ribbon!

February 16, 2009 at 3:50 pmIn ten minutes, I’d love to see how I move when I work out. I know my posture is bad, and I understand that watching myself workout will help that a lot.
In ten months (well, nine, but close enough) I’ll be doing the Susan G. Komen walk for the Cure, which is a 60-mile, 3 day walk. I think it would be fun to film snippets of this adventure to share with my blog readers and friends.
In ten years, my daughter will be 15. I will be 46. I would love see where I am, where she is… record it for posterity (knowing full well that very few electronic devices are geared to LAST for 10 years, this would be amusing.)

I also plan on working harder on my freelance writing business, my book, and stories in various stages of progress to become a book published author to go along with the articles I have written and ghost written that were published online.

February 16, 2009 at 3:55 pmI love the camera i have. It’s a new Cannon. I just need to start using it. I could totally do video blog now and then. For now i use it to catch a little bit of the fun stuff with kids. Usually i skip the camera and just enjoy the moment.
10 min: I’ll be in the shower because 10 min ago i got a great cardio workout done with a DVD at home.
10 months: It will be close to the Holidays again. I plan on spending this year with my hubby and kids instead of dragging kids around to every relative within an hour of our home. We may even go to Disney Land. I hear there’s a 5 K every year. That could be good =)
10 years: I’ll have a teenager =] Yikes! I plan on being healthy and being able to coach or support my boys in any sports or curricular activities they are passionate about, along with setting the example by still pursuing my own passions. Perhaps be a physical trainer while the kids are at school. That would be great, or even coach at a local High School.

February 16, 2009 at 3:59 pmI would LOVE to win a camera as I don’t have one!! I would mainly use it to record princess toddler. But,I would love to win to show you what I do on my exercises to get input if I’m doing them right. I want to even record maybe me cooking my food. I started a food blog awhile back and I want to do more indepth stuff online with my cooking. I’m trying to cook healthy but, living on a budget it can be hard.
I can pretty well stay on plan for 10 mins and maybe even 10 months but,if I reach my goal in the next year or so I know I will have a huge problem sticking to it. I’ve lost weight in the past and got to my goal but once I got there I gave up and done whatever I wanted to do. I think I would like to document not just my journey now but,10 years from now hopefully at a healthy state. Because really you haven’t suceeded at it unless you have conquered the mantainence cause it can be so easy to let yourself go. HERE’s To Making 10 mins,10 Months or even 10 years count now matter what size I am!

10 years – will be almost done with my surgical residency – yeehaw!
And I would totally enjoy the journey with my Vado pocket camera by filming my daughter to watch when I’m brain dead from studying to make me smile, so my family can video me when i’ve turned demonic on them to play back for me (when I say “what are you talking about? February 16, 2009 at 4:03 pmI really need to use the video camera that we have now (though it is officially claimed by the hubby). I don’t like to video static indoor scenes. My favorite videos are always of people and situations outside – active scenes. So in that respect, it would help fulfill my 10.10.10 plan of doing more active, outdoor things – both by myself and with my kids. I live in scenery central, but sometimes I need that kick in the pants to get out of my chair and out into the great outdoors. In the next 10 years, I want to instill a love of hiking and being active outdoors in my kids.
10 min, 10 months, 10 years – it’s all the same. Get up, get out, and get moving!

February 16, 2009 at 4:06 pmI tend to just go about letting life happen so this exercise makes me look a little more at goals…
10 minutes to maintain my peace in a house with 2 teenage girls, need to stop and maintain calm before responding to a “duh mom” comment
10 months to complete at least 1 organized bike ride this summer since I now have a bike carrier I can use, using the recorder to capture that I finished
10 years to enter an empty nester life style, hopefully with my and my husband’s health, making great choices each day so the 10 years will be according to my goals-travel, active, healthy

February 16, 2009 at 4:11 pmWhat a neat concept!
10 minutes–film my strength training workouts to see how my form is and to watch my muscles grow and my fat shrink!
10 months–have my husband film me doing a 5k (it’s one of my long-term goals)
10 years–compile a montage of each year’s progress. Even though I’m planning to reach my weight loss goal this year, I’m not through making goals, so each year I want to make a “year in review” video and be intentional about making things happen in my life instead of allowing life to pass me by!

February 16, 2009 at 4:12 pmThis is such a great way to look at everything! I’m sitting here thinking……..does blog surfing help me to get to my goal……………YES!!!
For me, the MAIN reason for my quest for awesome health is TO LIVE………to be around for a long time for my kids and hubby. I already take a lot of pics……progress and of my family. I think if I had this awesome video camera………I would further document the concept of LIVING………and how my quality of life and that of my family’s just continues to evolve together……as we continue on this quest for a better life 😉
It’s so exciting to think 10 yrs from now……..maybe we could all run in race together!

February 16, 2009 at 4:31 pmhmmmm, 10.10.10 is not a concept I’ve considered before. When I first read the video’s title, I was all like, “Hey Miz, it’s still February.”
10 minutes: I’d use it to improve my yoga form. Or maybe to send a video to Mr. Fiance when I finally get down my Carmen Electra Striptease Workout. He’d either laugh really hard or really enjoy it.
10 months: Video journaling my resolutions/promises to me and Mr. Fiance. I write a lot, but it’s really easy for me to disassociate myself with the words on a page, even if I was the one to write them.
10 years: Mr. Fiance and I will have been married for 8 years (can you tell I can’t stop thinking about this guy?), so it will be really interesting to look back at ourselves, and at whatever it is we’re crazy enough to be doing in 10 years. We’ve got a couples bucket list, which includes silly things at zoos, so it would be really fun to have that on digital tape, as it were.

10 months: Keep steady through the financial crisis, don’t panic. Keep working towards better health by making good choices. Keep my kidlets and husband and myself my priority.
10 minutes: stay in the moment and enjoy my life and family without excess.

10 months … I’m going to run at least a half marathon (where the HELL did that come from?!). I’m going to be holding my Canadian paperwork so I will be LEGAL and I’ll be thisclose to a trip home to my brother’s wedding.
10 years … I honestly have no idea. I had my life planned out and it changed on me and I thrive on change. I know I’ll still be challenged but who knows where I’ll live, what i’ll be doing. I hope I’m happy and healthy, whatever that may be for me in 10 years time. I’ve learnt that what I want NOW is not always what I want in the future and that’s okay.

February 16, 2009 at 6:04 pmOoooh…I love this giveaway. I think it’s the English teacher in me, but anything with a theme just makes my boat float…and like any planner, I have to start with the end goal in mind, so I gotta start with 10 years out and move backward…
10 years (and beyond that) – my overall goal is to be a healthier person. In many respects, starting to run three years ago was the first step in that direction. The hiccup to this plan has been my recent spate with nagging, run reducing injuries this year. In 10 years, I plan to be running 1/2 marathons regularly, and injury free…and I want to continue chronicling the adventures of me and my friends as we run together…since that’s been one of the best parts of running, is running with the herd.
10 months – well…if I’m gonna be injury free in 10 years, my shorter term goal is to be injury free 10 months from now when I’ve finished the third leg of the triple crown (Carlsbad 1/2, La Jolla 1/2, AFC 1/2).
10 minutes – this was the toughy, but throughout the day (at least 3 times), I will stretch injured areas and ice them.
So how does the camera help? Well, I’d use it to chronicle some of this. I think I have running form issues. I’d love to videotape this and perhaps post it to me blog for feedback from my Internet friends. I post lots of pix on the blog right now, but it’d be nice to have some live, good, wholesome (well…mostly wholesome) video of the herd in training as well. It’d be good entertainment for the Internet…trust me on this.

February 16, 2009 at 9:14 pmOh wow. Here I wander over to Monday Facetime for a little relaxation and you go and make me think.
Higher-quality video means higher-quality capture on my swimming, biking, and running technique. I wish I could afford a coach, but I just can’t right now (although if you know anyone in the greater Wichita area who needs a trainer, maybe we can get to work on that little conundrum). So I’m coaching myself. And the only way I can get a sense of how (gnarly) my form looks is via video. So fine-tuning my swim stroke would be one use.
More videos on lifting form!
Can we say video cycling podcast?
Filming my swim clients (preferably under water, if I can figure out how to make a waterproof camera enclosure). Ultimately that works towards my goal of making me a better coach, able to offer more of what my clients need, and moving me closer toward coaching endurance athletes vs. the more generic personal training.
And also–you have a seal! That’s awesome!

February 16, 2009 at 9:50 pmFor me, it would allow my husband to take videos of me in the races I run! Then I could really see how dorky I look when I run! I joke! Sort of!
In all honesty, since I am getting so close to my goal weight (15 more pounds people!!!), I am finally shedding my fear of the camera. I HATED the camera, especially videos where I actually moved and couldn’t hide behind the person in front of me, BEFORE I began my weight loss journey. I think of all the memories of places we went and things we did and how there are no pics of me there because I would not allow my pic to be taken. Now, I am embracing myself! The places we go, the people we see, me at this size! So, the camera would help me shed my fear and embrace myself!

February 16, 2009 at 10:43 pmyou are in a new room! and I can absolutely tell the better quality of this camera!
Why would I like to win? Because I would spend LESS time worrying about what I look like on video (bags and all) and more time capturing moments of me with my family and kids.
10 minutes: to focus on the present. what am i doing right now that is important?
10 months: get back on the running field and perhaps run another marathon? either that or have another baby, whichever comes first. (marathon running is far easier!)
10 years: to look back and have very few regrets. If I have 10 years of videos to admire, I will remember my youthful running days. 🙂

Does that mean I get to walk for a few minutes and then run for a few minutes and then walk and then run and then jog or whatever? Do I have to be jogging and then running… does it even matter?
Thank you!

February 17, 2009 at 6:16 amI would use the Vado to film things I love and want to share with others on my website — which does not exist at this time but with 10 months and a Vado…
I think one’s website (correct me oh Holy Goddess of Web-Based Fitness, if I am wrong) gives one a chance to sit back on haunches and get a third-party view of one’s life/interests/contributions/place in the world. It would also be a place to post what one has learned the hard way and share so that even one other person could learn it the easy way.
10 minutes — decide to live healthy, take proverbial ‘towel’ down to elliptical as opposed to ‘throwing it in’
10 months — being healthy, I will be in a better frame of mind and be helping others either by teaching or volunteering
10 years — I will be healthy, serene and living a life of service with some golf on the side

February 17, 2009 at 8:35 amI love the idea of 10-10-10. Especially now, since I just found out I’m pregnant!
In 10 minutes I would start recording my progression through pregnancy.
In 10 months I hope to welcome to a healthy baby to the world and document it with video.
In 10 years I plan on having maintained a healthy weight/lifestyle and lead by example to my children.

February 17, 2009 at 8:48 am10 minutes: I would video tape myself talking about how disappointed I am that I’ve re-gained most of the 95 pounds I worked to hard to lose, use the tape as a witness to my letting go of that disappointment and pledging to get back on track.
10 months: I would continue with my video journal by noting my progress and re-evaluating my future goals.
10 years: I would video tape my whole, healthy family having a fun time being active together.

February 17, 2009 at 9:01 amDarn. I seriously just bought a Flip through Amazon last night. Ryan (hubby) and I are actually leaving next week on a cross country adventure, moving from Michigan to Cali, and…we are going to video tape our adventure(s) along the drive. I plan to post all the deets on http://www.livewell360.com and talk about our healthy eats, how we fit in our workouts, and of course include fun snip-its of the journey through fun places like Colorado Springs, Sedona, and Las Vegas!
Ah well. Anyway, love your message and your spirit, MizFit. You really rock.

February 17, 2009 at 9:10 amI would love to have a video camera. I enjoy your videos so much and love the personal touch it adds to your blog.
In 10 minutes I will remind myself why I’m changing my lifestyle and getting healthy. I matter to my family and I want to be around for a while!
In 10 months I want to be thinner but more importantly, healthier. With a video camera I could record what I do weekly to get to my goal. Sort of a docu-me-tary!
In 10 years I want to be the envy of other women my age. Biking and hiking and sharing tips on how to be good to yourself.

February 17, 2009 at 9:15 amI would use it to encourage me to get out to the world and have some fun.
10 Seconds: it would help me live in the moment and really enjoy it
10 minutes: it would help me focus on the task at hand for awhile, ratehr than jumping from task to task, and not really getting anything fully done
10 years: it would keep me connected to my past, something that I haven’t done very well thus far in my life.

February 17, 2009 at 9:49 amI have already come such a long way from where I was 2 1/2 years ago. I am now healthy, strong, fit and comfortable with myself. I had lost over a year when I was attempting to gain weight that was a result of being ery depressed. Today, when I wake up I don’t understand how that sadness could have overtaken me. I see every new day as a day to complete something big: whether it be a running PR or making a homecooked meal. In 2019, I want to be as healthy as I can be, as happy as I can be, and hopefully surrounded by love from friends family or a sig. other. I love this 10/10/10 idea because it puts things into perspective. In 10 minutes, I would like to be starting something, like homework, a run, or anything that keeps me from just watching TV or being lazy. Living life fully is my ultimate goal and as I prepare for my first half marathon, I realize that I am already living it, as opposed to where I was before. So I would use to 10 minutes to leave myself a nice inspirational message so that I never forget to prepare for activity in my day and reflect. I would use the 10 month as a reminder I want to complete a full marathon, so I will document my training, and document my travels as I graduate college this year. Seeing where I am going, is great motivation. In 10 years, I hope to have run a few full marathons and have traveled all over the world. My camera would show the progress my body, mind ad soul has made in the time I have been re-living my life, since I made the change those few years ago.

February 17, 2009 at 9:49 amWow what a cool idea. I just watched your video and printed out a little 10.10.10 sticker to remind me of this. How could I use the Vado to help me reach my 10.10.10 goals? My ideas kind of go a little outside the whole 10 minutes, 10 months, and 10 years idea so bear with me, but the first thing that came to mind was: I could do a video series on my blog about positive 10 minute changes, like 10 minute recipes, 10 minute work outs, important articles you could read in 10 minutes, 10 minutes meditations, etc. I could do a video diary on the 10th of every month to see how close I was to my goals and what I wanted to work on until the next month. In about 10 months from now I plan to be running my first marathon (which has been a lifelong dream) so I could use the Vado to document my progress, and when I’m done what info I have to give other first time marathoners or new runners, what I did right, what I could have done better, my 10 year goals are a little trickier, but a few of them are to finish up school for my Masters becoming a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist, Qualify for Boston and Run Boston, Open up my own non-profit. etc. Looking back I will be able to see all the small steps that led me up to this point. Anyway, thank you for posting this I think I’m going to have the 10th become my official month review date now! P.S. have you tried sprouting anything yet?! 😉

February 17, 2009 at 9:55 amThis camera givewaway is fantastic! Being somoe who hates to get her picture taken this could be just the motivational ticket.
Thanks..
Goals: 10 minutes: Being able to live in the moment, not thinking about anything more than what is going on right now. A camera really helps you live in the present by capturing it on film.
10 months: Seeing my progress on film towards a more healthy lifestyle of exercise and eating real foods. It’s a real eye opener to really see yourself through the eyes of another.
10 years: Sharing the joys and rewards of a healthy lifestyle with my kids. Looking back over the years with no regrets!

February 17, 2009 at 10:10 amYou’re getting my wheels turning early – that’s a good thing!
10 minutes: If I’m having a bad day or stressing out, I would videotape myself ranting. I think looking back on it later would help me realize that I don’t need to get as worked up as I do.
10 months: I would do a 1-2 minute video journal at the end of everyday that focused on whether or not I met my health and fitness goals. At the end of the week, I could compile a list on paper of things I need to improve upon for the following week…hopefully by month 10 all the bad habits would be mostly eradicated!
10 years: Wow, 2019…I’ll be 31. At that point, technology may have changed a bit, but I would still use some form of video to document my life…and maybe use it to document the healthy life goals I have for my own little Tornado? Yes, I think about these things on a cloudy day 🙂
Thanks, Miz!

February 17, 2009 at 10:31 amThis would be so perfect. I have recently hit my 100lb weight loss mark and am continuing on:) My husband and I would use the video camera to actually “play” iron chef:) We do it right now, minus the camera. He really encourages me to cook healthy. Also, but what I cannot wait for is in October we are going to see the pyramids. It has been a life long dream and it would be so amazing to have some video of our time together.

February 17, 2009 at 10:50 amfor 10min everyday I’ll make sure I get part of my workout recorded in the video. For next 10months, i’ll gradually increase my daily fitness exercise and continue with recording daily 10min. Then within 10years I’ll have many exercise routines/ workouts recorded in the video. With those moves/ exercise/ workouts I want to show others my improvement and help others as well!
Ultimately, my goals are
10min = recording of my exercise
10months = continual exercise with increase in more activities
10years = motivate others with the films I took of my workouts.

February 17, 2009 at 12:01 pmCool concept. been thinking myself into getting a camera.
10 minutes. mind to page to screen.
video blogs. love letters embarrassingly displayed on youtube. winning that bodyweight video challenge. discovering my form really is impeccable! my paleo movie – start filming; the modern day caveman. should be very funny.
10 months: graduate to longer format. the kitchen show we’ve been dreaming of ; drunken chef! lots of cursin’ a few broken dishes and healthy tasty food. full length feature of paleo man (written off as a homeless man discovered to be the healthy hero- go paleo man go!). Cable access show for cycling nuts. interviews race footage. snide remarks by handsome host.
10 years: production company with ties to educational facility. cutting edge productions over the internet. humorous health videos. fun and fitness. remain lean strong and shower the universe with compassion.
hey. thanks it was good to get these goals in “ink”

February 17, 2009 at 12:44 pmoooo, I like this 10-10-10 thing! I’m all about goals and dreams! So fun. (the 10 minutes one, harder for me strangely, that’s the easy one right?). Well how would a camera help…
between 10 minutes and 10 months, I’d love to record my new fitness instruction classes and put them up on my blog. between 10 months and 10 years, record everything from the birth of my babies to the first soccer goal. (goals being step instructing, baby making).
10 minutes? well I’ve got a conference call at work, not sure how it can help me there. Maybe a video conference? 😉

February 17, 2009 at 4:47 pmIn 2001 I weighed 115 pounds. I was 5’4 (still am) and was around a size 0-2. Since then I have successfully (unsuccessfully?!) gained…60 pounds!! Phew, that’s hard to write.
My biggest issue is body image. I have NO idea what my body actually looks like. My mirror lies to me. The only moment I have clarity is when I look at photos. Unfortunately I do not have a digital camera of my own (I borrow my boyfriend’s) but when I do have one I take photos of different body parts I would like to work on. It sounds corny but it works for me.
For example. I want to be strong. I want strong, lean arms. Not sausage links. So when I see a picture of what my arms actually look like, I can hold myself accountable, and when I don’t feel like doing my push ups or going to the gym, I can remind myself of what my goal is.
I can’t really single out what has caused me to gain so much weight in almost 10 years. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I was diagnosed with metabolic syncrome. Pre-diabetes. Post traumatic stress. Laziness. Alcohol. Paula Deen…
So while I can’t pin point what go me here, I do know that I want the next 10 years to be losing it. I want to feel like myself again in my body. I think this camera would help me be more accountable to myself. And it would help me start a blog about my weight loss, so I can have support. And hopefully help others like me, who have found themselves overweight for the first time in their life and lost on what to do about it.
Thanks for the opportunity. Boy! That was harder than I thought! 🙂

February 18, 2009 at 1:42 pmI have so many goals…and try to keep them on track. Successful blogging is one of them, I’d love a Vado to try my hand a vlogging.
I give myself 10 mins to get excited. Whether it’s cleaning out the catch all closet, or going for a walk. I see it and do it. In 10 months I hope to have lost 50 lbs, I’d love to say more, but I don’t want to get my hope up! In 10 years. WOW! I will have a college student and a 4th grader. Hopefully there will be another toddler in the mix too. This is life, so I’m going to live it to the fullest. It’s the only one I have!

February 18, 2009 at 2:34 pmI love the 10-10-10 concept. For me, 10 minutes is a good timeframe to really *decide* before making an impulse decision. Before just *buying* something, think it over for 10 minutes. Before *eating* a snack, think it over for 10 minutes. In 10 months, I could possibly be trying for baby #3. In 10 years, I hope to be well on the way to opening my own fitness center for women. And yes, the camera would be wonderful for all of these goals!!!

February 18, 2009 at 6:34 pmI too love the 10-10-10.
10 minutes – like many have mentioned – the eating. I’ll have a drink of water instead and wait 10 minutes before I decide if I really need that handful of chocolate chips calling my name…
10 months – I’d love to be svelt. Lose all the baby weight from my first pregnancy (and the subsequent second and third).
10 years – I hope to be running 10K on a regular basis – maybe even get back into triathalons.

February 19, 2009 at 12:36 pmI’m big on goal setting. It can be very powerful. We once set a goal to move to a different city. Every decision we made, we asked ourselves: “Does this get us closer to that goal or further away?” We accomplished this goal in half the time we had planned for. So I really believe it’s the small daily decisions and the medium term decisions that move you closer or further from your long term goals.
So here’s my answer (our video camera is broken!):
10 minutes: Just like a video camera makes you focus intently on a particular event, I’ll spend 10 minutes a day just thinking about where I am and what’s really important to accomplish that day. Not just tasks, but people I need to connect with.
10 months: I want to video tape the aging adults in my family. I want to have interviews with them talking about the major events in their lives.
10 years: I want to be able to document the next 10 years in my family’s life, particularly the sports games, kid’s races, marathons, mountain climbing; all the places where a small video camera would come in handy!

February 19, 2009 at 11:02 pmI would use this camera to take a complete, head-to-toe, front-to-back video of myself in my (gulp) underwear. I am 35 years old and am in the best shape of my life. I am ~20 pounds lighter than I was when I graduated high school, and I now have muscle tone. The fact that the, um, complete image of my physique was preserved for posterity would help keep me motivated on those occasions when I felt like slacking off with my nutrition and exercise plans. This preserved image of my pretty-fit self would also help me with my goal of maintaining this level of fitness for the next 10 years. And, I would take a similar video in 10 years, so that I could compare the two.
I would then take a video of myself doing pushups–REAL, hands & toes, pushups– and pullups. I can now do about 15 pushups and, if I try really hard, 1 pullup. This would help with my ten-month goal of being able to do 30 pushups and 3 pullups. Again, I’d take a similar video in 10 months so that I could have a visual record of my progress. The video camera would bring a high measure of accountability to both my ten-year goal and my ten-month goal.
Finally, I’d take a quick video of myself in plank position. My ten-minute goal would be to check my form and make sure it’s proper. I’ve yet to figure out how to do this w/o breaking the pose, so this would help with my immediate goal of doing a proper plank pose and holding it for 90 seconds.
Sooo, my ten-minute goal is to do a good plank pose, my ten-month goal is more pushups & pullups, and my ten-year goal is to be a very fit when I’m 45 .
Thanks for doing the giveaway this way! It made me really think about some ideas that had been stewing in my head for a while.

February 22, 2009 at 9:20 amSince I have a hard time motivating myself to work out, the 10 minutes for me would be to just commit to getting on the treadmill for 10 minutes and tape myself. I bet once I was on for 10 minutes, I would stay on much longer. Then, whenever I didn’t feel like working out, I would watch the video and motivate myself to get on that treadmill again.
The 10 months would be showing me maintaining my current weight but with a leaner body. I have been maintaining my 63 pound weight loss for 1 year now and I want to continue to live a healthy lifestyle. My hope is that in 10 months I will still weigh the same but I will have firmed up.
10 years – wow – I will be old by then (60)!!! I want to show that you can still look GREAT at 60 and keep up a healthy lifestyle. And how cool would it be to look at all the videos from the past 10 years?!

February 22, 2009 at 1:51 pm10 minutes: I could use it to run through the house and find all the things I need to clean, repair, throw out or whatever else needs to be done in order for the house to be PERFECT when the social worker comes to do our adoption home visit. (i know i will miss something and having video will help me to catch it later)
10 months: I can use it to document every step we take in the journey to adopt our daughter. every time we fill out a ton of paperwork, every time we we work on her room, every time we do a fundraiser or send off the next bundle of money needed to complete the adoption. Best of all… to document our trip to Easter Europe to bring our girl home!
10 years: I can use it to record every crazy moment that arises from having 4 kids in the house and if I even think of adopting “just one more” I can watch the videos and realize that 4 is truly enough.

February 22, 2009 at 8:08 pmI started a blog about my love of healthy foods. In ten minutes I can make a healthy snack or meal and post it on a blog. In 10 months I’d like to chronicle an attempt to embrace running. I have yet to find a way to enjoy running. I know having the camera to log my progress, that it would make me feel more accountable. In 10 years, I can look back at how it started and remind myself that we only need to be accountable to ourselves, but I like to think that others may count on me as well to give me that extra push.
