I can’t lie to you, People.
As of yesterday morning I had an entirely different post written for today.
It was a pretty good post, too.
I chatted about the need to focus on strengthening our core literally & figuratively in order to achieve total health and life balance.
I waxed eloquently about core values, provided examples of ways to uncover/identify yours (hello masters degree Im not using!) & then shared my five core values.
Top of my list? AUTHENTICITY.
Which led me to yank/postpone the post.
It meshed perfectly with a different giveaway yet it didnt read authentic to me under the umbrella of First Person Friday.
(**hang on as we veer wildly off previously planned path**)
ahh.
That’s better.
Yet before I truly begin to drag you into my head on a weekly basis I wanted to stop and answer this question:
I’m excited about your new Friday thing. What are your days like? Id love a glimpse into your life! Not what you eat etc. as MizFit but what you do all day! thanks!
It’s kinda boring.
It’s authentically me.
Please to enjoy.
Immediately after waking I head here (yes it’s the crack of dawn. no I dont set an alarm. Im a firm believer in the notion if Im not up-at-crack & excited for the day I must need more sleep. Im always up-at-crack)
Once Ive grabbed that I head here and work for a couple of hours:
Why YES!Ā My desk *is* stunningly clutter-free (wink) & kind of blah but I have an amazing mural to my left which totally sparks my creativity:
Next, when there’s about 30 minutes or so left before Ren Man departs for the day, I stop working & head over to the cardio center for a workout:
After that things take a turn for the predictable.
We may hit the playground.
Or hula hoop.
Or do some carpet roller skating if it’s already 100 degrees outside (Id like to blame the carpet on the Tornado– but sadly it’s my bumbum which tends to spontaneously slam to the ground. We started skating 2 weeks ago & before that it had been 18 years since I’d skated. FYI it’s NOT like riding a bike—-at least for me.)
Some days we’ll head here:
and do this until they yell at us:
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nur4VFlbZ8c
(alas, Im not joking about the yellage. Im a great role model!)
Then it’s play time again:
And again:
Sometimes my day then begs calls for this:
Though I do try valiantly (if by ‘valiantly’ you mean 3 or so times per week—which I do) to opt for this (my beloved frozen MetRx shake):
Then it’s often on to the library where we read books, make crafts & rip eyeball off aforementioned crafts before even leaving the building:
Some days we terrorize the local Barnes & Noble for a while…
Until it’s FINALLY time to start winding down for the day:
(The Tornado demanded & snapped that one)
Then the nighttimeroutineGLAM ensues (dinner, TornadoRebelling, bath, TornadoRebelling, books read, TornadoRebelling) until she’s asleep.
Then it’s back to this:
And usually some time spent with this (sans Tornado):
Until this comes home (& we hang until bed):
(**Veering wildly back on different path. Please to not ask WHY just know it’sĀ not happenin’ again)
Here’s the deal, People.
There is, indeed, a giveaway with this post and it’s one this woman would LOVE to be able to win:

Yeah, that was one long ass post, huh?

Thanks for the glimpse into your day. I really like the random people holding signs!

July 10, 2009 at 5:56 amGreat glimpse into a day in the life of Mizfit. I was interested to see your grilling comment. Most of my friends give me a hard time because I don’t do the grilling at our house – my wife does. Yeah, occasionally I will head out there and cook something, but she is the grill master. We also have something on there about every night.
Andrew(AJH) says
July 10, 2009 at 6:01 amThe ting I liked about the glimpse into your life was that it was so much about spending time with the tornado, which is just as it should be, but unfortunately in so many homes these days it just isn’t. Good on you!
And, here in Australia, when the cooking goes outside it normally becomes the man’s job. So again, good on you!

“First Person Friday” was a brilliant idea, Carla! I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing (as well as hearing) about your life.

July 10, 2009 at 6:36 amI liked this “Itās taken me a bit to find the groove but I am living the AH HA moment of if I never do anything more (read: CAREER) than raise a happy well adjusted Tornado that is enough.” in your comment above.
I work full-time and so I can’t spend all day with my kids… and yet I tell myself the same thing some days when I am not fulfilled personally by my (much needed) job… my kids are happy, healthy, well-adjusted and I take some (or a lot of) credit for that. It’s alright if I’m not a CIO on top of that accomplishment.

July 10, 2009 at 6:43 amLove this post! Love first person Fridays!
But…when do you find time to clean? When I’m not at the dayjob it seems like all I do is clean or do laundry all day – how do you balance it out with Tornado time?
Is it sad that this was the one question I thought all the while reading this post? š

it was a hanukkah gift from Ren Man. We had bought the house and not yet moved in and he commissioned an artist to paint it for me.
(I know. JACKPOT on the husband huh? I am grateful every day).
bedtime? varies. typically Im in bed reading around 830-9.
works for us right now since the Tornado is up SO EARLY she’s conked early as well.
the B&N traintable? MY NEMESIS. (’nuff said)
Uh Jill? We’re supposed to clean?! š
Im not so great in that department and just do a quick WHIZTHRU after the Tornado is in bed and before Ren Man returns home.
we make SO MUCH LAUNDRY with working out and the heat I strive to just keep up with that.

July 10, 2009 at 8:36 amHey Carla, just dropping in for some free stuff to say hey! I’ve been rocking the strep this week and managed to get absolutely no workouts done (unless you count a couple of hours of mowing the incredibly thick and wildly overgrown lawn). Ugh.
You grill every day? Really? I wish I had that drive. I grill once a week. I don’t rock the gas either. I’m all about the charcoal. I just picked up 43 pounds of it from Home Depot for 10 bucks. Awesome sale! Take it easy. š

Love that you literally head out the door and spend the day out and about with the TT. And that the shop employees know you so well that they cheerfully hold up the signs. And the TT never naps??

July 10, 2009 at 1:53 pmI just loved this post because I felt tike I was there with you & all those adorable pics!!!!! It kind of took me away from the craziness of southern CA for a bit. I know, people always say they want to move to sunny CA, but here where I am, yes, the weather is nice BUT we do have lots of smog AND it is so dang crowded! Although I like the 24 hour gyms for me AND I love the gym pic of Tornado!
Looks like you have a beautiful life & fun too! You made it that way & I say congrats to you! That adorable child is one lucky kid along with the older kids too (you & RenMan). š

July 10, 2009 at 2:17 pmBee Cave area, eh? Ever been to Leander? That’s where my mother’s family hails from–somehow related to Stephen F. Austin himself (descended from his niece or something like that). And I’m a big traitor because I moved to NY.

July 10, 2009 at 9:11 pmYour little Tornado is sooooo adorable… š And I know you know this, but they do grow up soooo fast, so it’s so great that you get to spend all this time with her. (My teenager is turning 18 in a few weeks; boy do I feel old… So sometimes I’m getting really sad that my toddler is growing up so fast…) Anyway, thanks for another glimpse into your life!
First person Fridays are great! Have a wonderful weekend!

July 11, 2009 at 7:38 amYou are so creative. I love the way you write and the pics just add another great element.
My day:
Wake up by alarm (b/c if I woke up when my body wanted to I’d be two hours late to work)
Walk pups
Fed pups/myself
Off to mundane work, which I make as fun as possible by making people laugh all day.
Sneak away for a Buckies break at 2ish
Again, back to *yawn* work
To some kind of training for the day (ride, run, swim etc.)
Home, feed pups
Shower
Make dinner
Wait for Trainer to come home and eat
Very little tv
Sleep
repeat
Not nearly as interesting or fun as your day!!

July 13, 2009 at 5:26 pmWhat, exactly, is the purpose of decaf?
You are smart smart to hang on to those toddler moments. My children were born YESTERDAY and they are both middle schoolers in the fall. My DH put our oldest behind the wheel while on vacation (rip out my heart and run over it whydoncha?).
Do you not worry at all about the carcinogens of grilled meat? It makes me nervous…
