If you’re like I am & you have free long distance minutes perhaps you, too, are sending messages of love to everyone in your life your grandparents/parents via your kids!
It’s pretty cool as the messages can be played & replayed on the computer (it’s all explained here).
OR
If you have a child, know a child, have ever met a child CHECK OUT THIS SITE.
Perhaps you could promise to plop a note in a neighbor’s kid’s lunch pail or, again if you’re like I am, realize that your spouse is *really* just an overgrown kid him/herself (& that counts, right?).
Have a great rest of the weekend!
Im off to run and then get tattooed.

grandparents day…hmm…didn’t know that. Then again, there’s lots of “days of celebration” that I’m unaware of…

September 13, 2009 at 5:38 amPRECISELY Lori.
I giggle that I went all around Austin and forced (encouraged? coerced?) people to hold up signs saying precisely why they were their own superhero.
(gave em paper & sharpie)
it was hilarious…
wait, how does that fit here?
I must need more pre-run coffee 🙂

September 13, 2009 at 5:59 amOnce when I was about 12, I walked about a mile to the florist to buy a beautiful bouquet of lovely yellow roses for my Grandmom (with my own money). I surprised her. It was the best ever! (fussy warm memory)

September 13, 2009 at 6:01 amI entirely mock these kinds of holidays except those which remind me/us to stop and tell people we love them.

September 13, 2009 at 6:04 amWhen do we get more tattoo photographs?
Will it be finished today?

September 13, 2009 at 6:39 amMy dad already reminded me of Grandparents’ Day today–via Facebook of all things. Of course, he was just using it as a good reason for me to go into labor today (as if I have control over that).
I’ve always put notes in my son’s lunchbox, though I don’t do it every day anymore because it got too routine. Now I just surprise him with a note on random days.

September 13, 2009 at 6:49 amMy wife does a pretty good job making sure my kids always send their grandparents a card for grandparent’s day. We are lucky that our kids all know their grandparents, and have a relationship with each of them. In fact, our oldest some knew and had a relationship with several of his great grandparents and one great, great grandparent. Unfortunately, that number is dwindling by the year.

September 13, 2009 at 7:24 ammy only living grandparent is downstairs snuggled in her bed sleeping still..She’s too far gone with Dementia that she would understand what grandparents day is. (I miss the days when she remembered)..She was my best friend when I was a kid. I could tell her anything and everything and knew I was safe to vent. Never judged or critisized. Never said a cross word about anything or anyone. (I miss those days) Hug your grandparents. Honor them.

No parents or grandparents alive but telling any family member or friend is important.

September 13, 2009 at 9:43 amAw, I just remembered that all of my grandparents are gone…I went from having lots (divorce brings extras) to none in about 3 years. Sigh. If you still have some, definitely call them now! (Am sending emails to my sons telling them this right now).

September 13, 2009 at 9:11 pmSo it’s 10 pm and you just made me realize I didn’t call my Nana today. Even though my mother called me last night to remind me to call her today. I’ll call her tomorrow I suppose – sadly Nana’s not the forgiving type…
BUT – you are officially the ONLY person who could get me to click on a Kraft link. And I’m glad I did it!!

September 13, 2009 at 9:52 pmGreat reminder, thanks!
We just got on Skype (free software) and walked my parents through it too. Now the kids get on my computer and say hi to grandma and grandpa via video. They laugh like crazy ’cause no ones lips match their voices, but at least they all get to see each other. Wonderful when my husband or I am traveling too – always get to tuck the kids in no matter where we are.
Definitely time to tuck a note in each lunch too, haven’t done that for a while.
