Since Im disorganized it’s all strictly off the record.
Ok, People, here’s the deal.
Many of you have kindly asked as of late: whats the story with your race? how is your training going?
Many of you on twitter have tweeted me with thoughtful queries of Arent you running in March? What race are you doing? Is it a full marathon? half??
Only to be met by stony silence.
By the proverbial crickets happily chirping away.
You see, I do know when Im running.Β And I dont.
Here’s what I know fer sure:
- Running kicks my…glutes.
- Im training.
- Im embracing the fear (what if I run myself into an injury?! Ive never had an injury!!) changing the midset (I am filled with strength & health. I am injuryfree for life!!) & running like pudding the wind.
- At this point I am still training for a full marathon distance.
What am I still waiting to hear about? Why on earth am I being so flipping coy? Theres a *SMALL* chance I may run the Disney Princess Half Marathon.
Im smitten with this concept for myriad reasons.
BeyondΒ the fact running with the mouse would rock (what new runner doesnt aspire to that?) we’ve been mired in the freakin princess stage around here for ages.Β The very thought of being able to run while wear while wearing a tiara (and not look like a crazy person) makes me grin.
The very thought of running whilst sporting a tiara in the Magic Kingdom (because in all honesty RunsWithTiara is my Dances With Wolves name. We do that FREQUENTLY up in herre) & have an excuse to bring the Tornado there makes me thrilled beyond belief.
So I wait.
And run.
And train.
And am right now sans race plans.
And I figure the worst thing that happens is I finally break out of my recumbent bike rut & discover the true love of the run along the way.
So that’s my running update.
Still in the planning stages.
All strictly off the record.

January 18, 2010 at 2:05 amHoly freaking crap that’s totally freaking awesome.
Mary agrees.
(In fact, off the record, Mary wrote this comment and was too lazy to change the name that was already set on the computer. But the first comment was a direct quote from Kepa so it’s all good.)

January 18, 2010 at 2:15 amSponsored by the MOUSE would be super duper coolness (and your cool factor would go into the stratosphere for the Tornado if it wasn’t there already).
Fingers crossed that it happens!!

January 18, 2010 at 6:03 amWe have a lot in common. Today it is fear of injury. I’ve never been hurt training for anything but I always fear blowing a knee or a back. My fear would be that I would be sidelined from working out.
Good for you for pushing through your fears! I’m cheering you on!

There will be no Mardi Gras marathon for me this year, but I’m putting it on my calendar next year! It’ll be my get-back-in-shape-goal.

You must. =)

January 18, 2010 at 9:06 amRunning? I’m trying it. I will never love it.
Running? Hurts. Not the muscles that everyone mentions:
It hurts my ITB -even when I stretch and foam roll.
It hurts my gracilis- even when….
It hurts my anterior tibialis-even when…
It’s form and shoes and other things, but I’m having trouble embracing running.
However, I am keeping your little secret and my fingers crossed.

January 18, 2010 at 9:53 amLove the way you’re aiming for an awesome and ambitious goal, but not putting huge pressure on yourself or allowing yourself to get injured. An “off the record” approach is a great idea!
(However, because of the strikeout type I first read that running with the mouse would “reek”, rather than “rock”, which kinda cracked me up. )
TB-Milwaukee says
January 18, 2010 at 10:29 amAt least your thinking of wearing the tiara and not the mouse suit. Me: I’d like to waddle it in my Donald Duck suit.
Shelley B says
January 18, 2010 at 10:47 amAwesome unofficial update! Are you running every day? I still have the injury fear when I run 2 days in a row, and it’s not nearly to the extent of what you are doing, I’m sure. But hey – we’re out there doing it, right?!?
Kelly says
January 18, 2010 at 11:03 amI had to read between the lines. π It would be so awesome to run the Disney Marathon. Right now my running name is Runs like Snail. Snails don’t run. They may try but they are slow. And have to avoid salt.
I’m working on the Couch 2 5k running program now.
You’ll do great. You’re in fantastic shape and the best part is that you have fun doing it. With a great attitude you will reach your goal and inspire others along the route. Wear the tiara proudly. π
Quix says
January 18, 2010 at 11:05 amYou’ve never been injured? Ever? Geez, I am in awe. Says the girl who has sprained each ankle 50 times, broke her finger, has a backwards neck (my neck actually curves the wrong way), and a severe tailbone bruise that comes back to haunt me.
Injuries, especially the normal running-overuse-kind, are easily avoidable by just paying attention to your body and learning what “I did a good hard run” sore is from “I mighta gone a little too far”. And yes, I have very much learned this the hard way. I’m feeling a blog post coming on later this week, hehe.
Other than that, let me express my additional awe at the type B you are. I am so type A with my workouts that if I did not have a race date and a training program and know what I’m supposed to be doing each day – I’d be sosososo lost. And my running name would be “BreaksHeadphones” – I can ONLY wear nike flights, but I kill at least one pair every 6 months somehow…
Lori (Finding Radiance) says
January 18, 2010 at 11:14 amI would so love to run at Disney. My hubby and I had our honeymoon there LOL!
While I think marathons have their place, I don’t know as they are a goal for someone who doesn’t do a lot of races to train for in a few months and actually *enjoy* the process (not to mention the marathon itself).
I fear injury as well, which is why I cross train so much. I have just dipped into having a few days in a row with running.
Train away and see where it takes you. If it is few 10Ks, a 1/2, or even the full marathon – the process of actually getting there is really more important in terms of how it will affect your running mentality for the future.
(said from an entirely amateur runner point of view)

January 18, 2010 at 12:37 pmIf someone told me “Oh but tiaras are part of the required uniform while running!” I would SO start running today.

I puffy heart tiaras.

January 18, 2010 at 3:42 pmDude lady, if I can somehow manage to fall in love with running I know you can too!!
I remember dreading it. And then liking it. And then feeling so so about it. And then hating it. And then one day I magically woke up and realized wow I’m into my 6th mile and I am still smiling!
Granted…it’s all weather dependent π
You’ll get there. I hope you do run the princess run! That sounds like so so so much fun!

January 18, 2010 at 3:50 pmI love the thought of you running in a Tiara and with the mouse. I know too you will all have a terrific time at Disney. I soooo hope you get to go and do it. January 18, 2010 at 4:38 pmI am new to this blog. I was referred by http://www.nomorebacon.com. I believe running is an interesting phenomenon in America. Everyone wants to do it to get in shape. Man it takes a lot of time and energy especially training for a marathon. I give anyone credit for wanting to run a half or a full marathon. The powerful thing about running is it is really simple to measure progress and truly goal centered. “One more mile” “Another 20 meters” “You can do it” Sorry just reflecting on what goes on in my head when I run.
