(As in really really post-race.ย Pre-shower.)
My initial thoughtsย about yesterday’s runtastic experience.
And yes, perhaps to your chagrin, a longer post is coming later Im sure.
Forย today Im off to play grownup in Disney (which is, indeed, an oxymoron).
Well done! Mazel tov! Congrats! Woo hoo!
Miz, I think you should be VERY proud of yourself. I’m proud of you (which makes me feel like my mother, which I’m not so upset about actually).
I’m in awe of you. All the time.
You are awesome, in every sense of the word.
I am SO proud of you!!! Way to go on accomplishing such a HUGE goal! You are an inspiration, Miz (and I don’t say that to many people). Congratulations!
Well done Miz! We all knew you could do it. You look very fresh on the video … not at all like you’ve just run a half marathon!
I’m betting those thoughts are creeping into your head now … “I’ve done a half, how hard could a full marathon be?” ๐
Congrats Miz!!! You did awesome!!! So proud, and so impressed!
You are such an inspiration, I do not think I ever want to be a “runner” BUT I do want to do a 5K someday…just to do it and finish it.
Have a magical filled Monday!
Well done. Now it’s all about me! Er, I mean, all about Fitbloggin. You are going to remember to let me out of the basement for that, right?
Congrats, Miz! Have fun today ๐
Congratulations! I LOVE how candid you are about it being long and boring! Best 2 min. of video ever. And you do not look like you were post race.
I hear you on not doing the marathon. Just had a friend do a half and say 10 mi. was good for her, anything longer is one mile too long.lol So the halfs are out for her never mind the full. Great job none-the-less, that was no small feat! WOOHOO!!:o)
YOU are awesome, Woman.
There’s no way I could run that far and long because I still lack that pushing mysef gene.
Hope you are not too sore this morning!!
Congrats to you, girl! ๐ Have a wonderful, fun day!
wow.
I was dead tired after my first half!
Does this mean you are full bound???
GOOD MORNING!
Well, not sure it means Im running another step (I kid you not about needing to mull all this over!) but Im not too sore this morning.
Im still a buffoon ๐ when it comes to training for this whole thing (dont ever be me) as I never ran outside—-but I made it through ok so far.
(sore quads and thats–knock wood—is it)
and YES.
This all means far less runningyammering around here to the delight of many Im sure!
it’s all bizness as usual ๐
Way to go Miz!!! You set a goal and accomplished it, being a super example to all of us that anything can be done!
XO
This has been really fun to read about and I plan never to run a step.
Yay. You’re human!
So proud of you.
Awesome job!!! So happy all went well and you accomplished your goal! ๐
I saw you in the race yesterday!!!
You were smiling Mizzy!
I am so happy for you! Have fun being a kid today ๐
CONGRATS MIZ!!!
I know my ipod pulled me through on mile 8 and 9 and again for mile 11.
I’m not a “runner” either, so I’m really impressed with you stepping up and going for it!! I just ran my third race on Saturday. It was a 5K. I don’t train for them, but like you say I really like the comraderie, and the early morning being out and something fun.
Marc
congratulations on the half, that is an amazing accomplishment. and congrats on stepping outside your comfort zone!
Way to go! Anyone who can run that far and for that long is crazy in a good way. What an accomplishment!
((hug)) you’re AWESOME!
Way to go MizFit! A half marathon is a major accomplishment. Pat yourself on the back, enjoy your day, and let us in on your next adventure!
Hooooooooooooooooorayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! What an accomplishment! You are amazing! Way to push through it (even the boring parts ;)). Have fun in Disney today- you MORE than deserve it.
Excellent! Congratulations.
Enjoy Disney, and be a kid again for a while. You deserve to.
CONGRATULATIONS! I couldn’t be more excited for you!!! I think we are a lot a like…running is not the first thing we’d run to when we workout but stepping out of our comfort zone only makes us stronger.
Enjoy the moment on cloud 10!!!
giggling. Alas its not park time todayh. Next trip
Love the video!!! You are so cute and congrats on finishing the race ๐ Glad you enjoyed your time at Disney! Thanks again for meeting up with our sister, you are the best. We have cut back on our running – doing it just about once a week. We are enjoying other forms of exercise lately. ๐
CONGRATS!!!
So impressive ๐
Congrats! I hope you don’t need a wheelchair today!
Seems all the runners break the iPod rule. Our marathon in Milwaukee last summer was a joke cause at least the top 5-6 gals were dq’d for having one.
WTG on just finishing, hope you inspired someone to run. Probably not me!!
Great job! Congrats ๐
I love how honest you are about it all. yes, people say its hard but never the ways it was hard quite in that way!
Have a great time playing!
You made it! I love your honesty – and I think those feelings you have are what goes in in all our minds for any distance race – they are just magnified the longer the distance is ๐
You Did It!!!! Hot Dang, YOU DID IT!!!!! WAY To Go, Carla!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!
Love Ya Lots
Dr. Mo
Congrats on the race!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Congrats, awesome job.
that’s awesome, congrats. i’d love to be able to run a half marathon.
Way to go!!
Awesome job!!!
Yay! I’m so so so proud of you and happy for you. What an experience. If nothing else, you got to experience something that few get to do. And you did it!
Shelley and I were talking about you this weekend. There were so many bloggers running. We’re very happy for you. ๐ Enjoy your day of play at Disney. Looking forward to hearing about the nitty gritty details of the run later.
Congratulations!!!!
I can’t believe you don’t get to play today!
Thanks as always for keeping it real too and admitting you struggle.
Congrats on completing the 1/2 marathon. That is an awesome accomplishment. Kev and I will be doing the 1/2 in the Reggae Marathon in Jamaica this Dec. and I’m scared to death. Running is a major struggle for me so we shall see how it all plays out LOL
Now I better go check on the ipod rule because I can’t workout without music so I don’t know how I would make it 13.2 miles running without it.
You totally inspire me!
So great to hear from you. And congratulations on finishing. I am really surprised to hear that there were not people all along the route. Seems so unlike Disney, Have fun with the Tornado and Ren Man today!
Did your daughter love the race?
Did you wear the tutu??
Can’t wait to hear the rest.
You inspire me.
Mazel Tov! You rock! Love the vlog. Next time take a pic of how you balanced that Flip ๐
I was really disappointed by the half marathon we ran in Disney. There is a LOT of highway, and you’re right, NOT a lot of spectators! You should do another race soon in your town… there are sure to be lots of spectators (the Philly half had a bazillion!)
Miz, congrats on completing!
I seriously appreciate how honest you are! In my mind, I say. . . “Ya, a 5k, I could do it someday.” That’s true I COULD (will) be able to do it, but will I WANT to.
Sorry about the ipod/no ipod “rule” mix-up, that sucks. I would die without my tunes. Okay, maybe not die, but I would be less than motivated to run.
Whether or not you enter a “run” again, you can chock this up as another experience in life. ๐
You are one amazing lady!
(BTW, your hotel room looks festive!)

Oh! I had thought Disney was run thru the park and packed with distractions!
Thanks for the tip ๐
I can’t believe you ran a half without ever running a long distance outside…that is hardcore, lady! I’m so happy for you that you DID IT – you achieved your goal!!! Congratulations…looking forward to the rest of the recap!
You didn’t do a long outdoor run???
You are nuts girl. In a great way.
Well done. I knew you could do it! Hope you’re not too sore today and that you’re having a blast in Disney. ๐
Sounds like you did fabulous and you are down right hard core. Luv it!
Maaaan.
I need to come back and play huh?
Get to the park.
Bring the child (and not just my inner-one ;)) too!
NEXT TIME!
You’re amazing.
I’m contemplating running a half marathon in June. Don’t know if it will happen. I’m a little scared of the idea of it. Which makes me REALLY think that I ought to do it. It’s good to step outside of our comfort zones!
AWESOME!!! SO impressed! So proud!! Enjoy your grownup-in-Disney time.
Really amazing that you did that & especially you not liking the cardio! ๐ I really appreciate your honest thoughts on the whole thing! Hey, how can we learn if we don’t try, right?? Jeez, I should read my own comments & listen to them ! ๐
Go play! Wish I was there. Isn’t there a ‘no adults allowed’ rule there?
Congrats on your race and such a big accomplishment. I’m happy for ya and proud of ya. ๐
You did it, Miz!!! Woo-hoo!!!
…and now you play!!
Awesome, awesome!!!!
way to go miz!!! congratulations! you rocked it out.. just like we all knew you would
my only sadness is that i didn’t get to see you! :/ hopefully one of these days i can finally meet you
you’re totally right about the lonely highways.. my ipod died around mile 3 and i was miserable without it
continue having a blast in your disney adventure ๐
xoxox
WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!! Way to go, MizFit!!! I’m not surprised that you did it, but I am in awe! Can’t wait to hear more!
Way to Go!
You know you won’t be lonely if you want to run in Pittsburgh! ๐
Congrats – So sorry I’ve been absent through your training I wish I was more involved and cheering you on. ๐
my gawd, how do you manage to look so good after running a race like that? i look like a train wreck afterwards.
congrats on accomplishing what you set out to do!
yes, those miles without spectators make the race seem longer, but i’m sure the parts where there were spectators helped give you some wind at your back.
well done!
Congratulations! It stinks that it wound up being boring and left you wondering if you’d do another. I ran the regular Disney half in 2005 and there were almost no spectators, so I understand. And the headphone thing is so silly, everyone wears headphones for the long races! You mention maybe running 5k’s rather than sticking with halfs. I think the best way to stay interested in running is changing it up. 5K’s, 10K’s, 10 milers, and halfs are all great races. They’re all a little different. Also, it sounds like you trained mostly on the treadmill? I have a treadmill and love it, but learning to love running will be difficult to do on a treadmill. I’m already madly in love with running, so treadmill running gets me my fix, but running outside is where the magic is…
Glad you got out there and did it. So excited for you!
Congrats! I’m glad you went with your goals and not the other goals people set for you. So important to running or any fitness.
Soooo many millions of congrats to you girl!!!!!!!! What a huge mileston!!! I’m so happy for you that you did this, congrats congrats congrats!!! Wish I could’ve been there to cheer you on!!
