What readers of the May issue of Fitness Magazine saw (please to yank out your magnifying glass or click on image to read):
What I saw on page 28:
We are continually inspired by reading the blog MizFitOnline. Carla Birnberg, aka MizFit, has maintained a 40 pound weight-loss for almost 17 years and received countless one accolade for her mad branding skills. Shes done all this while juggling (check this out!) her day-job & a Tornado of a child.
More motivating than these facts, however, are her amaztastic readers. MizFit’s daily posts/videos serve as a mere launching pad for lively, interesting, articulate & frequently moving comments from her community.
(Admittedly we often fly through the planned post so we can leap to the commentversation which follows.)
We were fortunate enough to grab MizFit & slow her down enough long enough to pose to her this question:
What’s YOUR motivational mantra when you’re part way through a workout & tempted to quit?
Her answer was one we here at Fitness Magazine think all women should incorporate into our daily self-talk:
I know, People.
Call it an overactive imagination.
Giggle & say Im only a cockeyed optimist.
Dash to your vision board & follow suit with what YOU wish to see in your world.
It all adds up to the fact that life is as we choose to view it some days.
And today Im choosing my way.
You?
You rock.
That’s what we all should have seen.
Are we suppoed to print this out and go renegade and tape it in magazines all over the country?
You’re too funny.
OMG I love it. I recently made the decision to open my own studio EEEEEK!!! Now, it won’t be happening for at least another year – but it’s something I’m working toward. I love the power of visualization… and your mantra.
Now I want to think of my own Mantra to keep me inspired and moving forward… and I think I’ll put mine on a T-shirt too 😉
YOU ROCK – thanks for the inspiration!!
Love you MizFit. I haven’t seen the latest Fitness yet, but congrats, congrats congrats.
You are totally your own super hero and an awesome one at that.
Now please just tell me how to get abs like yours?? 🙂
xoxo
I saw that and I really did wonder why it was so small and why they did not mention your awesome blog.
I’m not just trying to suck up either 🙂
love ya!
You tell em Miz Bimberg! 😀
Miz!!
That’s awesome!! Fitness Magazine couldn’t have chosen a better person to highlight!!
…your cape is waiting…
I love it, of course I love your version more.
You are too cute! I have something for you on my blog!
I know you’re kind of kidding but I am choosing to believe today I can acheieve my goals.
What’s a vision board?
Just think of it as a small step in your quest for healthier world domination. At some point in the near future, that editor will look back, do a forehead slap, and say, “WHY didn’t we feature her more prominently? We totally blew that chance to spread the wizdom of the Mizdom to one and all. Now she’s gonna go with SELF. Frack.”
I’ve heard of this talk, “vision board,” before and quite honestly, just never did it because I’ve always thought of it as something others did. Yesterday, while in an all day team-building session for work, the instructor had us draw on a flip chart where we saw each other in 3 years, no words…just pictures.
I am in aww at what I drew. And, I requested that I take my picture home so I can hang it in my office. Wow. Visions are powerful. I feel inspired.
Thank you for continuing to inspire us and be our mentor MizFit – you seem to post things so ironically when I need it. (Yep, cuz the world revolves around me, ha!)
That’s NOT what it said?! Gee, that’s what I read too.
Of course, I also searched for and followed some magazines on Facebook last night that I am absolutely convinced my writing will be in very soon!
Maybe their dog ate your picture.
LOL at Donna.
I can’t top her comment so just reread it please.
Have a great weekend Mizzy.
I am choosing my way too! 🙂 I like it.
Congrats again Miz!
I’ve been thinking I need to do a vision board and haven’t found/made the time to actually do it.
I think I might try this weekend!
I think my Fitness mag just came in the mail yesterday – excited to check it out now! Way to go Miz! And yes, you are an inspiration. 🙂
That’s what I love about blogs…we are publishers, editors, authors, and photographers, right? You really are a superhero and the pages of THIS site are YOUR magazine….and that my friend, takes a cape, balance, personality, and vision. You do it all so well.
and how much do I adore that you guys always have my back.
*throws up MizFit gang sign, fistbumps & is off to take on the day*
I like your version much better – and lol at Shauna for catching the mis(miz)-name – I missed the first read. Oh Fitness, you do not know what you missed!
Woo Hoo! And of course, all of us know that the full version was encapsulated in that sentence 😀
I’ll just reiterate what I said last time you posted this picture. I want your legs. Want them!
Happy Friday MF! I love your homemade t’s- makes me want to run out and make some of my own.
@Tracey
I want her arms. We should really be able to clone Miz for our own purposes.
Oh I totally think you should be a paid staff member of fitness magazine…you totally have so much to contribute in a positive way!
Yay, I love your overactive imagination! Your positive perspective is an inspiration to me as I work towards improving my own.
that’s amazing! great work!
Hilarious.
You should apply to have a MizFit’s Musings column there.
I love that alliteration.
I don’t always comment but I’m always inspired! And I can’t believe they didn’t mention your mad twittering skillz.
I’m with Kat. I read the same thing you and her read.
You always have something to motivate me. If they can’t see that..pshaw on them.
🙂 SO cool!
YOU are my inspiration! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I hadn’t thought about using “I am my own superhero” as a running mantra (I just wished vaguely that I could afford a t-shirt).
Ooh, just had an idea. I totally want to make the preschoolers superhero capes that say “I am my own superhero.”
Okay, back to being a productive working adult.
You are my superhero too! Love reading your blog. It is always inspiring.
You always have something inspirational on here. Love stopping by! Off to buy yet another magazine so I can proudly say “I KNOW THIS WOMAN AND I LOVE HER!” and look like a complete idiot in the store 🙂
you’re MY superhero 🙂
You totally shoulda gotten top billing, especially over Miss Skinny Jeans 🙂
I don’t have a mantra, but I do keep in mind that I want to be able to keep up with my nutty running/triathloning husband and son for another 50 years. That definitely helps me keep going.
Thanks for all that you do!
See, I had to read your post twice before I realized Fitness mag didn’t interview you for page 28. (Its been awhile since I’ve read Fitness.)
Shame on Fitness for not interviewing you! lol
Congratulations on this blurbage in Fitness Mag.
Way to go Carla!!! I’m all for “My” way too lol.
I SO want a shirt that says that. (Guys can say that, too, right?)
What I can’t figure out is how the two best mantras ended up without photos?
I am ALL FOR choosing the way we see things and the way we deal with things. We’ve all met people on both sides and even though it’s hard to always see things through positive goggles, it’s totally worth it!
Hey, that is what I read too!!!! How did we see the exact same thing! 🙂 AND, being on the same wavelength, I already have a post ready to go next week on that “choose” word!!!! Yes, I write in advance due to my slowness at this AND if I did not, I would never get to reading other blogs cause it takes me so long to write a post! If I recall, and the memory is not as good as my younger years, I think the post is Tuesday.
Anyway, seriously, congrats & yes, you are your own & our superhero!
I confess to not having seen the article, so I thank you for sharing *exactly* what it said.
Have a great weekend!
AMEN SISTA! You ARE a ROCKSTAR!! luv u.
I adore you.
Heaps.
You are amazing MizFit! Thanks for being such a inspiration and reminding us to be true to ourselves!
Holy thigh muscles, batman!
Reminds me of a conversation I had with my husband yesterday. If you don’t like yourself how can you do anything. Being the hero or superhero of your own story is vital to find a way to be happy and accomplish your goals!! TY for providing such an inspiring example Mizfit!
That is exactly what I saw too! You’re willing it into reality.
I LOVE this.
Love it.
Tornado will love and treasure ANYTHING you make for her.
wow. i like how you phrased that. that’s pretty much what it sounded like to me, too.
Congrats Mizfit! I have bowed out of Twitter as you may (or may not) have noticed. It’s awesome that you were in Fitness Magazine! I need to think up a mantra to get through studying for a placement for (and classes in) math! :/
I love Fitness Magazine but wonder if I am their demographic?
I think we are too old Mizzy — in shape or not LOL.
You would be a fab addition there.
You are hilarious. You do motivate and inspire–without all your encouragement with the vision board stuff I don’t know if i would have done that. And you know what? My vision board is taking on a life of it’s own, as in, all those words and pictures are HAPPENING NOW. So thank you and keep up with your optimism AND your overactive imagination. We love it!
Yes, yes, yes! And this goes right along with the shirt-writing exercise you did recently. I totally believe that visualizing the life we want to have, as well as identifying the things we think are standing in our way, go a loooong way toward bringing about the changes necessary to bring the vision into reality. Also, “acting the way you want to feel.” I use this mantra a lot.
I love your insight Carla!
Wow. They couldn’t spell your name correctly?
congrats!! so well deserved!!!
Congrats! You rock!
Why be your own hero when you can be your own superhero? I guess when you are at the gym you got to figure out how to indestructible.
You are a superhero – both yours and an example to all of us!
I’m chosing today to love my body. 🙂
Thanks so much for the comment on my last post, btw. I appreciate it. 🙂
Hope
Awesome!! Congrats!! you deserve it.. but yah, they totally should have mentioned your blog, and had a pic of you!!
PETITION!!!!! 🙂
i can relate to some of the stuff in this article. Also can you check the pictures because they seem to be corrupt!
