First, the preview of coming MizFit’tractions.
Tomorrow.
Something I love from someone I love.
In the same vein as the last time she popped around these parts & let me play this woman for a day…but git here early.
**onward**
For those of you playing along at home we are now a little less than 16 weeks out frour ACHIEVE A GOAL date of 12/5/10.
For those of you running along at home last week marked the perfect time to git with a training program.
(Whatevs right? we arent ones to fret up in herre. new week. new start. no frettage.)
Hal & I? Total BFFs.
At least for now as we’re only in the second week of experiencing our love. As I promised, Ill keep you posted.
To that end I wanted to share with you some Monday link-love.
Posts Ive stumbled upon recently about workouts, running & cheering on of the runners (please see cry for help below) which Ive found to be extremely thought provoking or helpful.
Fitness Cheerleader chatted about ideas to keep in mind when training for a half-marathon.
When that grew a smidgetad overwhelming I clicked over to No More Bacon who offered a plethora of ways one could choose to view the distance of 13.1 miles.
Running Circles Around the Turtles had a great post filled with tips for novice racers where she broke all the info down into 10 basic steps to follow when getting ready for a first race.
Whats more important with regards to running that first race than support? And Im not thinking the emotional kind. Shelley at My Journey to Fit had a great post about sports bras for the larger tata’ed among us. I forwarded that one to practically every woman I know. Runner or non.
And, to my major major chagrin, I read an amazing post (complete with photos none the less!) about what to pack for your children to keep em amused as they cheer you on during race day—and can’t refind the post (was this you? was this someone you know? please to link it below in the comments!)
So that’s where I am on this Monday.
Teasing (and it’s so so worth it & a chance for your to share your OPINIONS & have em heard).
Curious (did you set a goal you plan to achieve on 12/5? how are you doing with the focus & the working?)
Linking.
And you?
Whats shakin’ in your neck of the net on this Monday morn?
Please to hit us all up in the comments.
I am working toward my goal of walking a 5k on Dec.5th!!
Uh Oh.
I had planned to join you in spirit and run 13.1 on my own that day.
Is it too late to start running???
NOT TOO LATE AT ALL (she shouts :))
Pick a novice running program and join us.
Did you check out Hals novice plan?
I want to think about it. What is Hals’ novice plan?
I’m an idiot. I saw that link, but I didn’t even think to see if that was the training plan. It looks great. But today (a day later) immediately after walking 4 miles and feeling like a 99 yo geezer, I don’t think I can train that hard right now.
I’m working on eliminating a few stressors. Maybe October or so. I know that means I can’t telecommute my equivalent run, but I’ll do something. Maybe 6.5 or something. 😀 I love your motivations. Thx
I’m excited for tomorrow.
Is it too soon to just sit here and see what’s coming? 🙂
Have a great Monday, Miz.
well, well, well. i love these kinds of posts; i always manage to find another fun blog to read. thank you! i hadn’t had any goals for December, except perhaps to keep warm (VT starts to get chilly in Dec). I’ll have to start thinking and planning…..thanks!
Thanks for all the new blogs to read and for the hints about tomorrow 🙂
If it is who I think it is by your linking I still have and wear my SPORTS BRA!!
I love Sally.
Looking forward to reading along and seeing what you’re up to tomorrow.
Love the picture! You better start running faster, Carla…someone’s gaining on you!
Are you going to run in your Five Fingers??
Or that dress?! LOL
Hal’s my guy, too! My training begins Aug.30! YAY!!! 🙂
I don’t know if I will ever run a half but am curious why everyone seems to like Hal’s program.
Any idea?
Hello stranger. Sounds exciting – can’t wait to read more tomorrow!
Oooh…tomorrow sounds awesome!!! Thanks for the link love – I had no idea that you forwarded that post to your well-endowed friends! And now I’m off to go read the other links…see you bright and early tomorrow!
My first thought was you must LOVE these LINKS since I don’t remember you doing link love before!
Off to read the blogs.
Love the pic!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Don’t love the tease cause I want to know now! 🙂 I am west coast so don’t forget we can’t get here as early!!! 😉
I will run with you from home… as far as my bad feet will take me!
Love that photo. You two are just so cute.
My goal is to happen faster than 12/5 and that is to ride the best damn charity ride I can next month and stick it to the jerks that stole my bike! LOL.
Miz — Are you SURE its not too late to start running???
HOLD ME.
Well, I stretched my goal out a bit….
*whispers* I’m doing a marathon in January. Me! A marathon!
But I’ll be well on my way to a 20-mile run by that point!
On this Monday morn, all I can think about is water-gulping consumption. I am sooo thirty right now. Totally my own fault.
Running? No. (Just not my “thing” these days).
Recent NSV that I have no idea how it happened but it’s awesome and I had to share it with you because I know you’ll appreciate it: I’m no longer thinking about food 24/7. I can actually go several hours without thinking about my next meal. And I’m not freaking out about food. And I’m stopping eating when I’m full rather than overeating. Woohoo!
So my goal for December is to MAINTAIN this. (And my more tangible goal is to fit into my tall high heel black boots ;)).
Also, that picture is super cute. I like.
LOVE THAT NSV…and I might know a podcast where you could submit that and shoutout to yourself 🙂
If Sagan doesn’t submit it, I will for her! 🙂 That’s an awesome NSV!
My goal is simple: Keep exercising. I have, and am, even though my stairclimber died in mid-interval. Thank you Freecycle, I have a rowing machine now, so I haven’t even missed a day.
Getting my head back in the game after a stressful, self deprecating weekend. Just did a nice 30 minute run to warm up and now I’m going to get on the trainer, not the personal trainer, the bike trainer and ride away some negativity!
Happy Monday. Keep on rockin (and rollin’)
I don’t have a treadmill anymore and this summer’s heat & humidity (more the humidity) has been unbearable. My training has been lagging but today I kick it up a notch! I am focusing on small things…like I WILL run 4 times this week…not how many miles but just how many training runs!
My first half is October 17th and I am finally getting it! I found a love for running and pushing myself.
If I survive my first, I will run from home on 12/5 as I cannot make it to Vegas =(
much love, jen
Thanks for sharing the link love! Will investigate!
This is my birthday week, so much celebrating will be done. In fact, I started over the weekend. 🙂
Have an awesome week!
I know it’s been said, but i can’t think of anything better.
LOVE the picture!!!
Great links. Hal and I are doing OK, I’m not quite giving him all the attention he needs, lol, working on that this week.
OMG. LOVE the pic. 🙂
LOVE the pic of you and the Tornado running together… and her PINK running shoes… too cute!!
Loretta
=^..^=
love that picture of you two!!
It’s actually Tuesday here. 😉 But I’m working on many many an exciting thing. 😉
Walking a half marathon with the hubby in Baltimore on Oct. 16th, I’m stocked. Thanks for all the great links, very helpful.
I’m running in Baltimore as well! Good luck!
No More Bacon’s post on 13.1 miles is one of my favorites ever. I passed it around the world when I first read it! Thanks for bringing it back =)
Love that photo of you and the tornado.
I am cruising the links you offered though I already read the one about big bras.
I thought Shelley’s post from today was killer.
Thanks for the linky love! Good luck in your training – Hal’s a great guy!
Thanks for the link love! MUCH appreciated! And we put my list of 10 to the test recently as *Kim* ran her first-ever 5K this past Saturday… great fun for all! 🙂
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pic!
Being blessed with a “Marilyn Monroe” shape, I wrote about sports bras sometime in the past year, too. *Can you say FUN post? Can find it at the Turtles blog, on the left margin, under Memorable Posts: “B**bs: Gals with Girls!” ~ worth a look and a laugh!
*hugs* from Orlando!
This Monday morn I’m thinking about the three pounds I lost, the 14 miles I ran on Saturday and what YOU are up to!
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
Ok…its Monday nite…what happened on my Monday? Well…I joined a gym last summer…didn’t go…fretted…tried to quit today…couldn’t without 3 months fee…beautiful daughter says “Mom, maybe you weren’t meant to quit. Maybe we should make the time to go together?” Little wise woman she is
That picture is priceless! 🙂
And thanks for the timely link to ShellyB’s article; my favorite sports bras are no longer made by the manufacturer, and their new model is hard to find, so I’m looking for a new brand.
I LOVE that photo of you and the Tornado! Complete awesomeness and motherhood all rolled into one!
Just saw the pic and LOVE IT.you two are so cute!
