Yep. That’s all I got.
Really? Now freakin way.
I never knew you lost weight.
Marsha @ Green Mountain at Fox Run says
So cute, in all the versions. Hope cute is an okay word to use. 🙂
I am wordless too.
Incredible! You’re simply amazing. 🙂
All of it.
I can’t even believe that’s you in the first photo. Amazing!!!
Wow! That first photo doesn’t even look like you! You’re getting better with age!! 🙂
Never would have known…..
JDaniel4's Mom says
You have made such a change. What a difference!
Ok, you’ve been blogging here for how long (checks archives) and you just posted these?! LOL
Now I want your secrets…
You so rock!
You made a change which isn’t really all that shocking (I do not mean to be disrespectful) as the first photo you are obviously young.
The shocking thing to me is that you bucked the statistic (what is that statistic? I need to look it up) about GAINING BACK WEIGHT.
THere’s your book, MizFit.
Now write it.
For me 🙂
Googled the statistic.
I found that 90% gain back the weight.
That seems high, though.
THAT give me hope.
Love, Love, love it! You’re such an inspiration!
Winks & Smiles,
I can see why this is wordless as I, too, am wordless.
Now share your secret as this has me believing I can do this.
And Amazing!!!!!! Love the pics you’ve shared!
I didn’t recognize you at all. I think that’s the first time you’ve ever posted a before picture?
Caroline Calcote says
Awww, no doubt you look awesome now, but you were a cutie before too. Thanks for all the inspiration!
I love your pics – young and now
I like how you left this wordless MizFit.
Because the words are coming in a later post right?? 😉
Marisa @Loser for Life says
16 years …Now THAT’S success! You’re AMAZING!
Ryan @NoMoreBacon says
Told you the transformation was beyond impressive! 😉 So proud of you!
Heather @ Not a DIY Life says
Wow. Doesn’t even look like you in the first pic. You ROCK, girl!
This inspires me.
In the era of Ruby and One Big Happy Family & BL where people shed mindblowing amounts of weight and regain it all in a matter of months.
That’s what I want to avoid.
Thank you for all you do, Carla.
Dinneen @Eat Without Guilt says
Too cute! What a transformation, but that lovely smile of yours hasn’t changed.
Joanna Sutter says
I absolutely love that you (and I) are in better shape 16 years later.
I’m 27 and have tended to fall into the camp of my best years are over after I hit 30.
My hot years 😉
Thanks for debunking, MizFit.
I’m a new reader.
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says
Wow, I seriously thought this was a guest post when I saw that first photo. It doesn’t even look like you. What an amazing transformation. Those arms!
You’re like, 13, in the first photo, right? ADORABLE. 🙂
Shelley B says
There’s the bulky sweater that you were hiding behind! Still a cutie, but like a fine wine, you have gotten better with age! Also, love that you are drinking a beer with a straw…ahhh, college! 🙂
And is that a BEER you’re drinking with a straw?!
I had to ask.
Kelley Burrus says
Yeah, Heineken through a straw is classic….and the blonde hair when I adore your straight black? You rock in so many ways. Your evolution is beyond inspiration to me.
Jody - Fit at 52 says
LOVE IT!!!! You know, Carla, as much as I don’t give myself enough credit & I know I do too much negative self talk, I should do this too as you & I are the same in this way… I think I look better now than in my 20’s, body wise & I definitely have a before pic from way back when like that…..
Says it all! You look friggin happy.. even running! 😉
Leah J. Utas says
Oh, yeah. Just like fine wine.
South Beach Steve says
Thanks for sharing Miz, I have always been curious.
KCLAnderson (Karen) says
Your naturally dark hair really suits you, versus that Sun-In crap you (and all of us) tried at one point. 🙂
I know how hard it was for you to post these because you don’t want it to be about certain things…I think I am correct when I say that. But I am glad you did…you are the same person inside in all the photos…and you’re the same person outside in many ways too…I know that. We all do.
What is your best tip for maintaining?
How’s anyone supposed to recognize you before your tattoos?
melissa @ the delicate place says
you look better than ever! i bet you feel better than ever as well!
WOW the before pic doesn’t even look like you. You were still cute back then though. 😉 Just not old enough to be a MizFit. More like a MissNotFitYet.
I am Irene says
Who the hell is that in the before pciture? No..wait..can it be? Wow!
Now that’s some transformation!
LOOK AT YOU RUN!
Who would have thought that you’d come to the point of running on a regular basis?
One of the best things about the blogging community is seeing each other change and grow 🙂
Jen, a priorfatgirl says
Besides the glaring physical difference, my favorite part is the glow that gets stronger in each picture.
Jack Sh*t says
Waitaminute… I’m pretty sure I took you to the prom.
Jennifer Burgett says
I do not believe that is you…..
I want an after picture like that.
ok you were blond!!???
It is interesting how we have become conditioned to look for huge weight losses and not payed attention to if the losses have lasted.
Love it! Esp how happy you look in all three. Some things never change eh?
workout mommy says
you were blonde!? (are there some hidden cheerleading pics in there too?!)
I agree. You DO have a story! 🙂
Wow! Thank you for the motivation! You look fantastic.
Struggling. To. Stay. Wordless…
Ren Man says
Seriously? St. Pauli Girl through a straw? Who does that?
Inspirational! I hope I can post something like this in another 10 or 11 years.
Wow you truly look amazing!!! Thanks for giving me something to look forward to! Even after all this time its amazing how you have managed to look better and better and yes its a scary statistic most of us are facing but thanks to people like you proving the statistics wrong and keeping the weight off we have more hope!
You look amazing. You were pretty in the before picture, stunning in the after, and HOT in the current one.
Unbelievable and inspirational. Thanks for posting.
Yum Yucky says
No way same person. No no no way. Brain can’t process it… wait, are you drinking beer with a straw?
deb roby says
And look at those photos… You look as young today as you did back then. Exercise does that.
Barely recognized you in the first photo.
Wow! I seriously have no words. You have only gotten better over the years. That gives me tremendous hope for the same. You rock!
Wow! You transformed yourself, and your life!
Wow. What a change. I love to see people getting healthier/stronger with age instead of the opposite. You are an inspiration to many. Thanks for showing us the possibilities.
WOW! Hey was that beer with a straw? lol You look great Miz! 🙂 xoxo
Wow! So classy drinking beer through a straw! What an amazing transformation.
Wow! Wouldn’t even have recognized you. Lookin’ good! 🙂
Yes!!! That is awesome. 16 years — that’s a lifestyle change alright! 😀
You, with blonde hair??? Never would have guessed that one! Or that it’s really you hiding behind the extra pounds. It’s not the Miz I know. 🙂
Agreed. You give me hope.
Girl, I need to know your one best tip.
And yes I said NEED 🙂
Just read through the comments and I also agree with the people who said we have become so conditioned to tremendous losses I think I would have not been impressed except for the length of time you have kept the weight off.
BL is really inspiring until you see how many of the contestants regain the weight.
When I first saw your picture I thought “who is guest posting today” lol. Great transformation Carla.
Oh I got 6 hours last night *smile*.
You are amazing!!!
Miz. I am speechless. Wow!
NO WAY!!! You are an inspiration, with words and with photos.
I am proud to say that I think that I took that picture. 🙂 You were just as beautiful then as you are today. Thankfully – and with much hard work – we are both a lot healthier. Ahh – college. It would not have been the same without a lot of beer and pizza.
yes! You did take the picture. Now who bought the beer?! I was a cheapcheap Old Swill woman back then….
Wordless is right! Wow you are amazing!!!!!!
I can’t believe it’s the same person.
sam rhoades says
how? how was this possible? I am new to your blog. where do I begin understanding your story? I am still in the “before” phase. I want to begin.
Kellie P. says
You’re an inspiration and clearly the queen of maintenance. The way you did/do it (regular exercise, intuitive eating, etc.) is why I ? your blog so much.
Courtney,MA NASM says
WOW…So inspiring. Its a process over time and you stayed the course. Glad you are helping others with their journey.
One word, Miz: BOOYAH!
Amy (Super Healthy Kids) says
CARLA!!! You give me hope! Thanks for sharing your pics!!
If you can then I can Right??
Oh geez! Love them. You are so rock-like now, I never would recognize your before. Spandex is much more your style than jean shorts and a sweater. I don’t know whose style that is :).
Posting before and after pics is a really humble thing to do–exposing (multiple sides of) yourself with pride so that others can cheer you and be inspired in their own battles. Love it.
And dang girl, you haven’t changed in 16 years!!!
Lori (Finding Radiance) says
You seriously look so different! Miz as a blonde… that is an interesting look.
Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting says
I want to be you when I grow up. #theend
No seriously, I absolutely ADORED meeting you and talking to you at BlogHer. Just sent you a couple DMs on Twitter. Cuz you’re awesome and, like I said, I aspire to be you.
Julie @ Hotlegs Runner says
wow! that is amazing! I love your arms!!! please share you workout for your arms =)
Amazing before and after pics and I am really impressed that you have maintained your weight loss and fitness. Inspiring.
Awesome change! Wouldn’t it be great if we could somehow photograph what changes on the inside during the process?
OMG. I just never imagined you EVER being “bigger” than you are. I know you’ve talked about it, but I just could never imagine it. Thank you for sharing. WOW.
wow. wordless, indeed.
Stephanie Dolgoff says
Go you! I love these pictures (and yes, you do get drunker sipping beer through a straw…or maybe just more gas.)
wow … inspiring.
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
Oh my! I would never have guessed. Congrats!
Gina Fit by 41 Maybe 42 says
It’s proof you’ve always been adorable.
Your “before” is more like a “then” — it’s just a different level of being. You’re a woman now with strength on many planes.
(btw – my 9 yo daughter loves her “Unapologetically Myself” t-shirt and proudly wears it to school.)
(I like mine, too, and also proudly wear it).
Amazing! For real, is that you??? Ummm… was your hair BLONDE???
Melissa @MelGetsFit says
If I had seen that first photo somewhere other than on your website, I never would have realized it was you. What an amazing difference! As someone else said, you are definitely getting better with age. 🙂 If have to say though, what’s up with drinking the brew through a straw? That’s just so very very wrong. 😉
I almost did not comment (how do you get so many comments!!) and I had to.
I’m inspired by the length of time you have kept the wt away.
Wow, Mizfit you look wonderful! That’s what I call progression!
I so enjoy your daily emails! Thanks for the dedication.
I want to be you someday.
Where’s you book telling me how?
Or is it all here?
Please send help 🙂
I can’t quite make out what you are drinking; I see others have commented the same.
But I see a box of snacks there too, all healthy no doubt 🙂
Heather Eats Almond Butter says
OH.MY.GOSH. I did not even recognize you and thought this was a guest post until I saw the last photo. Go MIZ!!! Do you have any idea how much you inspire me? 🙂
Yes I feel the need to comment though there is nothing left to say.
YOU MAKE ME BELIEVE I CAN KEEP MY 20 POUNDS OFF FOREVER.
You look great in all the photos.
I like how in the middle photo you are wearing one of my shirts.
Patty@NYC Girl at Heart says
Very inspirational! 🙂
I completely get why you were/are afraid to post these…but am oh so glad you did anyway.
Oh and I am unapologetically in love with your arms!
I like to think the early 2000s were about the big amazing weight loss stories and the tens 😉 will be about smaller and longer like you and me.
You look amazing in the “16 years later” photo — dare I say you look your best? 🙂
Just noticed you added me to your blogroll and wanted to say a big thanks. You’re super sweet! 🙂
Tony K says
Too cute! Beer through a straw is one thing. She’s TAN! Like, seriously tan. Lol! You look fantastic Miz!
You are a rockstar! Yeah you:)
OH MY GOSH!
I had no idea you were a weightloss success story too!!
You inspired me oh Fitness Guidance Conselor 😉
Beck Stein says
You are the queen of perseverance. Way to walk the walk girl!
Please to 🙂 share how you did it.
How you do it.
Damn girl you got some guns! Awesome transformation!
GASP! even your hair has changed!
Ahhhh! You are a celebrity now! 😉 I just saw you on yahoo. How exciting!!
Wow-you look fantastic! Thanks for stopping by my humble lil’ blog! I will agree with you, that lil’ ninja is a cutie pie (he’s the last of our three 🙁
I’m curious, how did you start? I’m sure if I prowl around here I can find how you began to take control of your body – but a lil’ help would be nice!
We’ve been talking about joining a gym bcs of the easy access to weights (I’ve always been intrigued w/how lifting can literally CHANGE your body)…but at the same time, I hate the thought of going and being around a bunch of buffs who grunt and growl through their workout (can you say Macho Man?). Anyhoo-thanks for reading and seriously, how did you start? Hmmm, I just read that lil’ snippet from “Fitness in 5 with Carla Birnberg? The Laughing Cow”… start doing today what you can maintain for the long haul ….Very Good!
Scale Warfare says
The change is Ah-Mazing! The fact that youve been able to keep up with your miz-fit-lifestyle is what is even more inspiring 🙂
Katie Johnson says
You’re so beautiful anyway Carla, but wow. That’s impressive!
I never would have picked that first picture to match to you. You completely transformed yourself. My mind, it is blown.
