December 17, 2010 at 2:18 amGood on you. I think that many diets and fitness programs fail as people spend more time feeling guilty than happy. The purpose of feeling healthy is to increase our happiness and well-being!

December 17, 2010 at 2:22 amWhen people talk about guilt and shame,
I just don’t get it sometimes.
I feel guilty that I don’t feel guilty enough!

December 17, 2010 at 4:30 amI can’t do the guilt any longer.
I’m sure there are situations now when I should feel guilt 🙂 but I have let it all go.
GREAT POST.

December 17, 2010 at 4:45 amOK I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to comment there or here (I felt guilty not commenting here LOL).
I loved this sentiment:
I control my destiny for the majority of events in my life!

December 17, 2010 at 4:58 amFUN!!! I would definitely wear the tube socks.
I need to think about the sidekick of shame idea too.
That side kick lives around these parts a lot.
good post.

December 17, 2010 at 5:57 amI am just saying no to guilt-trips. My dad complained that my daughter hasn’t called him since she got home from college (almost a week ago). I asked if he had called her. Uh, no. So, get over yourself!
I guess they are both adults so I can’t say “who’s the adult here?” anymore, but sitting around waiting for a call or email (they are not on Twitter yet) is not the best way to make sure that you will be spending time with the people you love.
(I’ve been looking for a plact to vent about this!)

December 17, 2010 at 6:28 amSitting here with a box of unaddressed Christmas cards – this weekend it’s either gonna happen, or it ain’t. And I’m ok with either way, actually. When did that happen?!? I feel so empowered. 🙂
The socks would be fun, and I am all about that!

December 17, 2010 at 9:00 amSometimes… I wish I were Jewish. Then I wouldn’t feel so guilty about feeling guilty! It’s a viscous circle.
Oh, and I like the part about shame being closely related.
Thanks Carla!!

December 17, 2010 at 9:12 amThrowing away the guilt & pullin on my socks! And orange is not a color option?.. how can that be?! 😉

December 17, 2010 at 9:15 amBest. survey. ever.
It’s important to wean ourselves off of feeling guilty for the ridiculous amount of things we tend to feel guilty about – LIVING and having fun is so much healthier, productive, and enjoyable than being wracked with guilt!

December 17, 2010 at 9:29 amMy brain today:I thought I had already commented! But I will not feel guilty about my senior moment! Ditching the guilt & pulling on my socks! Uh, excuse me…I didn’t see orange on the color choices..must be a Miz print.. *ducking & running*

December 17, 2010 at 12:11 pmUnless you’re an ax murderer or a child molester, guilt is pretty much a useless emotion. But then, I also have to say that the a lot of time we tend to mistake guilt for shame. Shame is when you say “I’m bad.” Guilt is more for saying “I did something bad.”
But yeah…no guilt here!! Karen is a guilt-free zone!

December 17, 2010 at 5:11 pmPink tube socks. Nothing better. I don’t own a pair of tube socks but for you – I’d wear them…I might even cut holes in the bottoms and wear them as arm gloves just so more people could see them.
