(pathetic or not I needed 99.9% of the items in this treatbox to even commence cooking)
Ive been cooking up a storm for my new gig as recipe reviewer over at Ready Set Eat!
Some Ive loved.
Some Ive not.
All of them have had a comedic element of sorts (inevitable around here) which the Tornado & I have adored.
The Tornado, whom I might add, has suddenly announced her desire to take cooking lessons (!).
(I shall give you a moment to let *that* sink in.)
I cannot decide if it means Ive sparked a passion inside her OR if she realizes Mama is thisclose to possessing ZERO kitchen skills & intuits it’s time to get her some back- up teachers.
Either way it makes me smile.
You can see me in all my GROWN UP reviewing-glory here (complete with adult head shot).
The Tornado?
Her grown up glory will come at the end of her course when she creates a dinner for the family.
Ill keep you posted.
Ready Set Eat is compensating me for my recipe reviews. The adult head shot & food prep laments shared on their site are all my own.

March 30, 2011 at 3:58 amI was once stuck in a hotel room with NOTHING on television but that Kate person and her 8 children (no mullets special even) and her two oldest girls were attending cooking classes. It looked like they were having a blast, so maybe the Tornado is on to something there.

March 30, 2011 at 6:43 amI think most kids have an interest in learning to cook pretty young. I took a cooking class around 7 or 8 years old. It was really brief though and geared towards young kids… so it didn’t really teach me to cook anything. And then I lost interest with a few exceptions until I was an adult and had no choice but to cook for my family. (Really, I made my husband cook til my daughter was about 2!) I’ve seen many little girls go through the cooking phase and yet my own completely skipped it. She’s still mostly freaked out by the stove. She likes baking a little, and that’s about it. 😉

March 30, 2011 at 6:47 amOur home school co-op does cooking lessons for kids as young as your Tornado. Trust me, they are not too young, she will have a ball.
Then, let her teach you what she learns, and she will really enjoy it.

March 30, 2011 at 7:03 amIt’s wonderful that the Tornado wants to take cooking lesson. And it shows that you have done things right by making her interested in preparing food!!!
The teenager, who is now off to college, actually took cooking lessons in high schools and loved to cook for his friends. He also cooks pretty much all his meals in his dorm room. Yet, he has still to make one single meal for me! I did get to taste some leftovers, but that really doesn’t count…

March 30, 2011 at 7:55 pmVery interesting site! I like how they let you base a meal around what you already have. As you know, cooking is not my strong suit so I’ll take all the help I can get!
