Around here breakfast is not only the most important meal of the day—it’s our family-meal du jour.
For now we *rarely* gather at the table to share dinner (please to see an early to bed child and cross-reference under Husband Who Tends To Work Late) & are far more likely to be found at the crack of dawn breaking bread eating cereal, talking about our yesterday and planning our day.
Breakfast, in Casa MizFit, does far more than nourish our bodies.
It’s our time to share our Hi/Low** from the day before.
It’s our opportunity, without any time pressure of looming bedtime or hectic mid-day schedule, to talk about what might be stressing or worrying us about the day to come.
Yet, being the misfit mom I am, there is an ever-present backdrop of wanting to fuel our physiques as well.
(Ive learned the hard way you can be happy calm & content—yet if you’re not healthy you’re not fully living.)
The Tornado LOVES her some Erewhon cereal (seriously to my SHOCK’mazement. The first time she tried it I expected she’d turn her Tornado nose up at the bowl. Her current fave is the Rice Twice).
The Husband is a long time lover of the Uncle Sams (we’ve been together for almost 18 years. I introduced him to Uncle Sams 16 years ago. He’s been smitten ever since).
Me? Give me ANY cereal which is gluten free and Im a happy happy rash-free woman.
Which brings me to the point of this post.
CONSIDER JOINING MY FAMILY AND MAKING BREAKFAST THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF YOUR DAY?
And, if you can’t swing it with your partner/spouse/roommates/family, consider taking your cereal along with you for later in the day?
I have three of the lovely green Attune bowls pictured above (made from recycled yogurt containers no less *and* BPA-free) CRAMMED with free Attune product coupons to give away.
Use the bowl for breakfast at home.
Fill it with cereal & just add milk later when you need a snack on-the-go.
You choose.

**I didnt make up this game. We love this game. Each person shares the best thing that happened to him/her that day (hi) and the not-so-best (low). Our rules are you have to share/find a high to your day—if you can’t think of a low that’s ok.
**This isn’t a sponsored post. I am, indeed, an Attune foods brand ambassador but was not hired to blog this post.
I would trade my BAGELS!!!
I am a cheerios fanatic.
I’d love to have breakfast with YOU!!!
Virtually.
I love these Trail Mix Cookies: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/trail-mix-cookies/Detail.aspx I make lots of them on the weekend and grab 1 or 2 on the go!
I love a mini whole wheat bagel with peanut butter to fuel me before my morning workout.
NO BREAKFAST 🙁
I usally do smoothies.
I’d love to try this.
Dagnabbit now I am wishing I had got my lazy butt out of bed in time for the Attune brekkie at Fitbloggin 😉
I don’t need the the bowls but will share what I eat for breakfast every day: beans. Yep, beans. I make them in the crockpot once a week and reheat with a bit of cheese on top. Great combo of protein, carbs, and fiber to start my day:)
I. Am. INTRIGUED.
I usually go for a green smoothie, but am finding I’m starving about an hour afterward.
I’d love to try something new.
I love my spackle, which I got from Pubsgal, but I think originated with you!
Broccoli quiche for breakfast six days a week. (CRUSTless, MizFit GF, not for the gluten-freedom but for the speed.) On a plate. I make it once a week and heat up. Followed by fruit.
Perhaps once a month I eat grits, or oatmeal. Cold cereals leave me…cold!
I love this. Does not matter when you meet to share but that you do! I love breakfast & the fav meal for me so why not do it then when everyone is fresh from sleep & not stressed at the end of the day!
I have 2 breakfast due to my early get up. One consists on whole grain toast with PB and a protein bar/cookie. The other is whole grain toast & a protein cookie. Lots of places I can insert Attune foods!!! Hope I win so I can try some & get those way too cute bowls!!! I use bowls a lot & portion control! 🙂
Vitatops 🙂
I love 0% fat greek yogurt with applesauce, cinnamon & some granola to start my day!
Thanks for all the inspiration mizfit!
Breakfast is either 2 eggs or some oatmeal. NOT a huge fan of cold breakfast cereal and usually need something to warm me up in the morning.
Only time spouse and I share breakfast is when we’re having it for supper. (He leaves for work before I’m even awake).
I love this post! I wish I could have breakfast w/my family but, alas, with everyone working such strange shifts it rarely happens. Also, My Man only eats breakfast on the weekends, no matter how much I nag him to do otherwise. 🙁 I myself eat a combination of protein & carbs every morning, followed by fruit mid-day. If I don’t have that protein and settle for something sugary or just cereal, I crash by 10 am. Breakfast is so important!
1/2 old fashioned oats cooked with 1 scoop choc protein powder and 1/2 T natural peanut butter.
Breakfast is either oatmeal or a veggie omelet.
I used to eat Uncle Sam’s all the time. I don’t know why I haven’t for so long. I’ve never tried any of the other Erewhon cereals.
Currently I have either steel cut oats or scrambled eggs.
I eat hot cereal every morning… oatmeal or a mix of grains with yummy toppings. And sometimes baked!
My go-to breakfast for a couple of years now has been Fage Greek yogurt and fruit. While I love it, there are days when I think I might want to switch things up a bit (I know, crazy talk, right?).
Most days I have oatmeal with cinnamon, canned pumpkin and almond milk. Occasionally, I’ll have a scrambled egg in a Joseph’s pita. 🙂
I love smoothies but I use to be a cereal fanatic.I’ve traded my ways for more healthful b-fasts but it sounds like cereal IS an option with these b-fast yummies!
Fiber One. I’m ready for a change up!
I admit, I’m bad at breakfast-to-go. I too often run out the door with a bottle of water and a granola bar or protein bar, which just isn’t enough to fuel me through the morning. If I have time (maybe I should say if I’ve MADE time) I have an egg with cheese and veggies in a toasted sandwich thin or bagel. It’s been so long, I’ve forgotten what most cereal tastes like.
I would love to replace my Honey wheat bread slice slathered in PB2 and wrapped around a banana. It’s good stuff, but a little old after the 100th morning! 🙂
Our current GO-TO is peanut butter oats. Rolled-oats, raisins, peanut butter, and banana slices. For him – brown sugar. For me – a sprinkle of cocoa.
It’s pretty awesome for fast mornings!
Go to breakfast foods that drive my bf nuts because I like the SAME thing every morning: sprouted bread w/ pb or ab and eggs or a chicken sausage.
I’m a cereal lover so I normally have a bowl of wheaties, cheerios, quaker oats, or autumn wheat with milk, banana, and berries. I’d love to try some rice twice in my bowls too!
I grab whatever I can a bagel some cereal or a fiber bar or nothing 🙁 This would give me a fun new base for breakfast.
One egg, half cup egg whites, 2 slices Canadian Bacon and 1 oz of cheese. If I am super hungry, 1/2 cup of berries or 1/2 cup of cottage cheese.
I’m a bad, bad, BAD girl as far as breakfast is concerned. Since I have to be out the door by 07:15 I do take care to grab something I can munch when I arrive at work. A few corn thins and cheese, or fruit, usually do the thing.
My BEST treat-myself-and-feel-good-all-day breakfast? A smoothie made from something like pineapple, banana, ginger and apple (or anything else thrown in, mwahaha!)
So, even though I’m not the US-type citizen =) I’m going to join you and cram more smoothies into my mornings this week to get a good habit going again.
I have a protein shake for breakfast and it is going to have to stay that way…good luck to the Americans!!!
Ummm so the braekfast of choice is a drippy egg and cheese sandwich on a gooey croissant with a second cup of coffee. I know – I know – does it count that I only do that a couple times a week?
I’m not in the U.S but I love breakfast. It is my favorite meal! I love protein pancakes/waffles, greek yogurt with fruit, french toast, granola, eggs oh my don’t get me started 🙂
I tend to eat fresh fruit on the run and would love to try Attune!!
Breakfast has been chia seed, sunwarrior protein powder, mesquite flour, Lucama, and stevia with some coconut milk. After a few straight weeks though you kind of need some new excitement:)
The atune cereals will probably replace the really anemic gluten free cereals I have at home (cinnamon sugar rice chex anyone?).
I love natural oven’s toast with natural peanut butter!! I do love some good cereal though, also!
My first breakfast (at home) is EggBeaters + whole wheat toast.
My second breakfast (at work) is oatmeal or yogurt or a Luna Bar (in order of crazy-busyness).
I usually eat cereal for a late dinner or snack.
I’m lucky if my teenager mumbles pleasantly in my direction in the morning. 🙂
I have oatmeal on a daily basis, but I’d love to try something new!
Today’s conversation in the kitchen “what’s your favorite meal?”
I love breakfast, I hate lunch, so boring, like dinner too.
Love my steel oats with cranberry and almonds, but had me some Sam’s that I got at the Fitbloggin’ tonight with my Greek yogurt and was in yummy heaven.
changes every day, today it was a blueberry bagel with ricotta and raspberries on top.gotta keep the body guessing.
These would be replacing my Kashi GoLean. Thanks!
We play that too!!!!
I usually skip breakfast. Bad bad I know 🙂
I LOVE Post Great Grains cereal. Crunchy Pecans is my favorite!! I have a bowl with a banana! Delicious!! Ive found so far that it keeps me the most full for a longer period of time. I’m always up for trying new things though. I love breakfast and morning time. It’s probably the calmest part of my day.
Perfect timing, as it’s getting TOO DARN HOT to enjoy my oatmeal these days. Time for cold cereal!
cheese stick or yogurt
I usually have kashi golean crunch with a little soy milk or oatmeal. I would love to try this!
I have one of these bowls and love it. I have also been a long-time fan of Uncle Sam (it works with my food allergies). My current go-to breakfast are homemade granola bars, hardboiled eggs, fruit and almond butter.
Either a protein bar, light whole wheat English Muffin w peanut butter & 1/2 a banana or a flax wrap pb&j. Some mornings (when I have time) I have high fibre cereal w/ coconut milk. These bowls look awesome & I would love to try the cereal!
Muffins are what I need to replace once and for all in my morning eating habits. Most days I do well to look away, others I get sucked in like a bass to a mister-twister lure. Not pretty whan that happens.
We are a serious breakfast family here. My son and hubby eat cereal (usually cheerios or chex) and I’m all about the smoothie.
What I have for breakfast depends on my mood, morning workout and time of year. During winter I do a lot of oatmeal with peanut butter. Lately I’ve been having whole grain english muffin with an egg and low fat cheese. And no matter what my main meal is I always have a banana and a glass of fat free milk with it. I’m also trying to get my guy to understand the importance of eating breakfast, and he loves cereal, so something fun like this prize might help me to get him to eat breakfast 🙂
I’m obsessed with the microwave protein muffin. So easy to throw together and infinitely adaptable.

Am I crazy or did I see some peeps with these at Fibloggin? I didn’t gets one! booo hooo! (or maybe I didn’t see these at Fitbloggin?) Just like cereal gets soggy, my brain is soggy right now. Sorry.
I pretty much eat oatmeal with granola, banana, and almond milk every morning! It always keeps me satisfied until lunch.
I’m in a major egg rut these days. Totally uninspired. I love that this is gluten free – I’m curious about the sugar content though. I didn’t see the nutritional facts on their site. I’d love to find a nutritious cereal that my kids would eat that isn’t loaded with sugar
I love having my meals all whickity whack! I love a good gluten free cheeseless pizza for breakfast, and a big bowl of puffins cereal for dinner! Nothing is better than a dinner omelet, you just mix a little v8 juice in the scrambled egg batter (or liquid, whatever it really is) and pile on the vegetables! OMNOMNOMNOM!
We love breakfast in our house. I do love Greek yogurt with Quaker Oatmeal squares as my crunch factor. We play the his and lows of the day too!
Definitely would give up my Special K Protein Meal Bars. It’s my very quick breakfast grab…but would love to have an option that would fill me up for more than 2 hours at a time!! Hehe
Oatmeal. I have a hard time straying from oatmeal, but when I do its either a green smoothie or something toasted (english muffin, skinny bagel, bread…) with PB and banana.
I have yogurt & cereal or granola almost every morning!
My breakfast varies. Sometimes it’s oatmeal with peanut butter , sometimes cold cereal with skim milk , sometimes scrambled eggs. Either way it’s usually followed up by a mid morning snack consisting of a handful of all natural almonds.
I might have to trade in my once a week breakfast bar for a yummy bowl of **new to me** cereal. I am, after all, a cereal junkie!
2 scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast… every morning! Love those bowls!
poptarts! They need to be replaced!
inman@mobap.edu
this quarter i have early classes so my breakfast has been fage nonfat plain greek yogurt, a protein muffin, & a piece of fruit. these free treats wouldn’t necessarily replace my current eats, most likely just add great things to my normal breakfast! 🙂
Fiber1 muffins made from a mix 🙁
whole wheat bread with pb or a hard-boiled egg and yogurt
