Around here breakfast is not only the most important meal of the day—it’s our family-meal du jour.
For now we *rarely* gather at the table to share dinner (please to see an early to bed child and cross-reference under Husband Who Tends To Work Late) & are far more likely to be found at the crack of dawn breaking bread eating cereal, talking about our yesterday and planning our day.
Breakfast, in Casa MizFit, does far more than nourish our bodies.
It’s our time to share our Hi/Low** from the day before.
It’s our opportunity, without any time pressure of looming bedtime or hectic mid-day schedule, to talk about what might be stressing or worrying us about the day to come.
Yet, being the misfit mom I am, there is an ever-present backdrop of wanting to fuel our physiques as well.
(Ive learned the hard way you can be happy calm & content—yet if you’re not healthy you’re not fully living.)
The Tornado LOVES her some Erewhon cereal (seriously to my SHOCK’mazement. The first time she tried it I expected she’d turn her Tornado nose up at the bowl. Her current fave is the Rice Twice).
The Husband is a long time lover of the Uncle Sams (we’ve been together for almost 18 years. I introduced him to Uncle Sams 16 years ago. He’s been smitten ever since).
Me? Give me ANY cereal which is gluten free and Im a happy happy rash-free woman.
Which brings me to the point of this post.
CONSIDER JOINING MY FAMILY AND MAKING BREAKFAST THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF YOUR DAY?
And, if you can’t swing it with your partner/spouse/roommates/family, consider taking your cereal along with you for later in the day?
I have three of the lovely green Attune bowls pictured above (made from recycled yogurt containers no less *and* BPA-free) CRAMMED with free Attune product coupons to give away.
Use the bowl for breakfast at home.
Fill it with cereal & just add milk later when you need a snack on-the-go.
You choose.

**I didnt make up this game. We love this game. Each person shares the best thing that happened to him/her that day (hi) and the not-so-best (low). Our rules are you have to share/find a high to your day—if you can’t think of a low that’s ok.

May 30, 2011 at 5:46 amBroccoli quiche for breakfast six days a week. (CRUSTless, MizFit GF, not for the gluten-freedom but for the speed.) On a plate. I make it once a week and heat up. Followed by fruit.
Perhaps once a month I eat grits, or oatmeal. Cold cereals leave me…cold!

I have 2 breakfast due to my early get up. One consists on whole grain toast with PB and a protein bar/cookie. The other is whole grain toast & a protein cookie. Lots of places I can insert Attune foods!!! Hope I win so I can try some & get those way too cute bowls!!! I use bowls a lot & portion control! 🙂

May 30, 2011 at 6:45 amBreakfast is either 2 eggs or some oatmeal. NOT a huge fan of cold breakfast cereal and usually need something to warm me up in the morning.
Only time spouse and I share breakfast is when we’re having it for supper. (He leaves for work before I’m even awake).

May 30, 2011 at 7:00 amI love this post! I wish I could have breakfast w/my family but, alas, with everyone working such strange shifts it rarely happens. Also, My Man only eats breakfast on the weekends, no matter how much I nag him to do otherwise. 🙁 I myself eat a combination of protein & carbs every morning, followed by fruit mid-day. If I don’t have that protein and settle for something sugary or just cereal, I crash by 10 am. Breakfast is so important!

May 30, 2011 at 8:48 amI admit, I’m bad at breakfast-to-go. I too often run out the door with a bottle of water and a granola bar or protein bar, which just isn’t enough to fuel me through the morning. If I have time (maybe I should say if I’ve MADE time) I have an egg with cheese and veggies in a toasted sandwich thin or bagel. It’s been so long, I’ve forgotten what most cereal tastes like.

May 30, 2011 at 12:16 pmI’m a bad, bad, BAD girl as far as breakfast is concerned. Since I have to be out the door by 07:15 I do take care to grab something I can munch when I arrive at work. A few corn thins and cheese, or fruit, usually do the thing.
My BEST treat-myself-and-feel-good-all-day breakfast? A smoothie made from something like pineapple, banana, ginger and apple (or anything else thrown in, mwahaha!)
So, even though I’m not the US-type citizen =) I’m going to join you and cram more smoothies into my mornings this week to get a good habit going again.

May 31, 2011 at 11:17 amMuffins are what I need to replace once and for all in my morning eating habits. Most days I do well to look away, others I get sucked in like a bass to a mister-twister lure. Not pretty whan that happens.

May 31, 2011 at 1:06 pmWhat I have for breakfast depends on my mood, morning workout and time of year. During winter I do a lot of oatmeal with peanut butter. Lately I’ve been having whole grain english muffin with an egg and low fat cheese. And no matter what my main meal is I always have a banana and a glass of fat free milk with it. I’m also trying to get my guy to understand the importance of eating breakfast, and he loves cereal, so something fun like this prize might help me to get him to eat breakfast 🙂

May 31, 2011 at 2:48 pmI’m in a major egg rut these days. Totally uninspired. I love that this is gluten free – I’m curious about the sugar content though. I didn’t see the nutritional facts on their site. I’d love to find a nutritious cereal that my kids would eat that isn’t loaded with sugar

May 31, 2011 at 5:02 pmI love having my meals all whickity whack! I love a good gluten free cheeseless pizza for breakfast, and a big bowl of puffins cereal for dinner!
