Yesterday I brought the Tornado to see Shrek the Musical.
You cant see but Im wearing these shoes.
So glad I listened to all of you (especially Charlotte) and didnt return them. I love. I feel fancy. I look on the outside like the amazon I feel like on the inside. but I digress…
We drove to Dallas (for the day. that’s the kind of S the M fans we are.) talking, snacking
on roadtrippy stuffs on organic produce and tofu and just spent time together.
It was a great reminder to this misfit mom no matter how “old” and “mature” she seems these days, the Tornado is still a little kid who marvels at Shrek whoopie cushions & will happily wear sweatshirts with donkey ears on the hood (*cue confetti made of mamasmiles*)
but I digress…
The show was AWESOME and, again, it made me cry.
This time, however, I looked around (through my veil of tears & smeary harry potter specs) and saw I literally was the only one teary eyed.
In a room filled with adults whom Id bet my pointy packpack have FORGOTTEN to unfurl their freak flag in a while—-I was the only misfit who grew choked up by these words:
WHAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL MAKES YOU STRONG.
And, in the land of kinder and public school, so frequently squelched.
So I leave you this morning with a song (if it works. phone blogging always seems like a fantastic idea–till I get to a computer and find the post all wonky) by way of reminder.
What makes you special makes you strong.
**seriously. I know we’re all busy. if you have 2 minutes to share with me please to skip the commenting, listen to the song and DANCE!!
