Please welcome Katie. I invited her here to chat about CHANGE as her change’perience is one Ive NOT experienced.
And yet? I can still entirely relate. Change be universal…
When I saw Carla was looking for guest bloggers to talk about change I immediately jumped at the chance.
I mean really.
If there’s anything I know these days it’s change.
Then I thought it over a little more.
I wanted to write this poetic post, filled with metaphors and nuggets of genius but then my kids woke up, the buzzer on the dryer went off and I got real.
As a newly minted mom of two, life is good. Crazy but good.
So to give you an idea of just how life has changed, I thought we would play a game of Less and More.
Shall we begin?
Less…
Time for leisurely browsing or reading
(fewer) manicures
(fewer) new clothes in my closet
Time to myself
(fewer) leisurely long runs whenever I want them
Fear of change
Money in my pocket
More…
Snuggles and cuddles
Kisses and hugs
Smiles and laughs
“I love you”
Focus
Satisfaction
Exhaustion
Grey hairs
Memories
Tears
Confidence in who I am
And the list of “More” goes on and on.
A friend of mine told me before E was born that parenting is the…and I quote “toughest job you’ll ever love” and he couldn’t be more right.
Every day is different, new challenges, new victories and a lot of change but at the end of the day, it all pales in comparison to overwhelming sense of purpose I feel.
This is exactly what I’m supposed to be doing right now.
It’s not always easy, it’s not always fun but it feels right.
So while I’m changing diapers and making bottles, I’ll continue to learn to embrace change.
It’s done me well so far.

March 7, 2014 at 10:21 amAh change. I can’t wait to have children for the above reasons! No rush though, stable life first. I just wrote a post about being addicted to change and how I’ve learned some good lessons about how that isn’t always the best thing. Change can be good, but it can be destructive. This kind of change you’re going through is the good kind!!

March 8, 2014 at 7:13 amIn his book, The Seven habits of Highly Effective People, Dr. Stephen Covey offers a matrix…a box of four Quadrants. The boxes are labeled, 1. “Important and Urgent,” 2. “Important and Not Urgent,” 3. “Not Important and Urgent,” and 4. “Not Important and Not Urgent.” The trick is to manage your life by spending more time and effort in Quadrant 2…”Important and Not Urgent.” In doing this, the quality of your life takes a quantum leap, and as a big bonus, the “Important and Urgent” Quadrant necessarily shrinks with less fires to put out. A very simple and effective concept that can turn lives around.

March 8, 2014 at 4:55 pmHello there!
Kudos for this post! I believe that being a mother is not that easy. You really need to concentrate and really focus on taking good care of the kids. I actually salute mothers! I think it is still very important to exercise even if you are busy.

March 11, 2014 at 5:58 amYour “change” was just my “life” and I was working full time so had no time to think about it, blog or even realize what it was. I had to pay a mortgage, bills and put food on the table. It’s most people’s lives…good for you that you have time to call it something and someone to help you with it.
