CLICK MY TATTOO! CLICK MY TATTOO!
Are the FAT to FIT!!! photos designed to make you feel poorly about yourself?
I’m at SHIFT CON.
Chatting about my Thirty second FAT TO FIT transformation! & speaking about the diminishing power of FITSPO in our healthy living community.
At least *I* hope it’s diminishing.
The rest of the panel? It remains to be seen.
(cue ominous move’esq music)
I shall report back…
I just read your first blog post on this since I didn’t know what FITSPO was!? Now I totally get it and I’m SO WITH YOU!!! I can really relate to what you said about being 40-something (I’ll be 40 in March) with a husband who works a lot (check!) and a parent to a daughter (I have twin boys!) so a photo of someone super fit with a tired saying across her 6 pack is not motivating to me…and the cooking photos aren’t either – HA! So true!!!
I do this in the mirror almost daily. 😉
Since you first posted this, I haven’t looked at fitspo with people in the picture quite the same. I’m a fan of motivational words, but not the pictures.
Such an interesting panel idea.
I cannot believe people still think FITSPO isn’t dangerous.
Have a great time! Your voice is so important… I’m glad you can be there to share.
FITSPO disgusts me, it’s terrible. Your selfies had me laughing hysterically however! Rock on 🙂
I think about this photo (or one you did in the past that was similar) whenever I see before and afters.
The longer I’m at this whole HLB gig, the more I think there’s a TON of stuff–like fitspo–that should go!
I got a google listing when I clicked your tatoo… I don’t really get what FITSPO is so cannot comment…. ??
WEIRD. It works on this end to CLICK! to a fitspo post!
I love you and THIS POST! Rock the ‘con.
Lol I love your face in the before photo.
I am with the fabulous MissZippy on this one – Fitspo and a few other trends need to get kicked to the curb. Would love to see people start listening to their internal rhythm to define what wellness means to them and living by their own wellness code.
Have so much fun!! I can’t wait to hear what it’s like!
Basically, it’s FAKE. They’re either staged like the one you show above, and the two photos are taken 15 seconds apart, or else it’s a softcore porn photo of some model who never lifted weights in her life and hasn’t eaten anything more than raisins and ice cubes since she was a teenager in a thong and shoving her buttcheeks in the camera.
Fake. And there is no inspiration in fakeness. Never was, never will be.
I am so curious about this panel, I wish I could go! Hopefully it will be recorded? Until then I will wait patiently for your report 🙂
lol! Since I do IF and eat late in the day, I start every day like your before and end it like your after 🙂
Hopefully in time most people learn to listen to their highest self and not the chatter of the masses.
YESSSSSSS LOVE THIS!
Is Fitspo a thing?! People… ugh.
I had not heard of Fitspo before seeing this and going back and reading your earlier posts. Now that I know what it is, I realize I see lots of these post on instagram. I had never thought about them one way or the other but now I can see how they could be more negative and harmful than one would think. I tend to focus more on the inspirational message than the photo. Also the people I find the most inspiring are those who look like me ( overweight) but who are working out and making healthy choices and documenting their journey. They make me feel like I can do it too.
