Ever not a fan of the word, I found an article in New York Magazine which addresses the fact healthy perfectionism may not be an oxymoron!
The article proposes there exists two types of perfectionists:
- Those who are internally motivated (AKA happy)
- Those who are motivated externally by fear of failure (AKA unhappy).
(The writer even offered, ala old school Cosmo Magazine, a quiz to determine which type you are.)
I found the idea intriguing.
I found myself still thinking I could never, ever imagine applying the P-word to myself–healthy or not!
