Confession:
On Saturday mornings, when I was about age 7, my little brother and I used to sneak into the kitchen while Mom was sleeping and eat Fudgesicles for breakfast while we watched cartoons….OK, well, maybe we ate a few Fudgesicles…OK, OK! Yes! Between us, we finished off the box!
Shameful, right?! Well, ya know what, Moms and Dads? I say it is time to EMBRACE the breakfast popsicle. This will not only make you the coolest parent in the entire universe — it will make the kiddos happy as pie!
Seriously, imagine the look on their face when they come into the kitchen and ask âWhatâs for breakfast?â and you reply âPopsicles!â They probably wonât believe you at first.
Thatâs when you pull this glorious orange creamsicle pop out of the freezer and announce: âVoila! Breakfast is served!â
Right there, in that moment, your âcool parent pointsâ go through the roof!
But so do your ânutrition-conscious responsible parent points,â because these popsicles are packed with nutrient-dense bananas, coconut milk, and Orange Cream Lean Shake protein from GNC. The kids donât have to know itâs good for them – they might just be too wowed by the sheer thrill of eating popsicles that early in the morning to even bother asking!
The GNC team recently sent me the Orange Cream to try out, and I love it!
Totally brings back memories of those orange creamsicle push-pops I would buy from the ice cream truck rolling through our neighborhood on Saturday afternoons! If you arenât a big orange fan, you can just use this same recipe but swap in your kidsâ favorite flavors. GNC Lean Shake makes vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, even cookies nâ cream!
You could even double down on your I AM THE COOLEST PARENT OF THE YEAR submission by serving this with a healthy pancake and then heading outside for a âKid Playâ workout.
The whole family will have so much fun, and itâs great exercise for everyone!
So try this little circuit, and enjoy your breakfast popsicles!

June 21, 2013 at 4:59 amI think I need to get some popsicle molds. Having something cold before a hot summer run is supposed to help you cope with the heat, and this sounds like fantastic pre-long run fuel!

June 21, 2013 at 7:40 amGreat idea! No kiddos at home, but who says a grown up can’t enjoy a breakfast popsicle?
Jackie says
June 21, 2013 at 8:26 amSounds great! When you list coconut milk are you talking about the stuff that you get in the can in the Asian food section of the grocery store or the stuff in the carton that you can drink instead of milk? There is a huge calorie difference between the two!
Kristin Barclay says
June 21, 2013 at 8:54 amVery cool, must have the rocket molds!

June 21, 2013 at 9:01 amThose popsicles sound amazing after a workout outside during the summer! I’m always looking for something cold and refreshing to consume afterwards.
And I’ve found that kids love doing the workouts with you! To them exercise is most definitely play!

July 2, 2013 at 7:11 amWow Shannon, that popsicle for breakfast looks very good. It seems like the cream would have too much fat to counteract the quality of the banana, but will try it anyways. Thanks!!!
