I love trying new things.
I LOVE throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.
For those reasons, I was unable to resist trying Thunderclap for our book release on May 5th.
What the heck is Thunderclap?
(Thanks for asking!)
The best way to explain it is to liken it to an online flash mob.ย
A group of like minded people sharing the same message simultaneously through social media channels.
Thunderclap isn’t about sales, but taking a message and spreading it suddenly–like a clap of thunder–across Twitter and Facebook.
A clap that that cannot be ignored.
(I know, right? “Cannot be ignored” seems a pretty bold statement to me, too.)
Here’s what happens when you join a Thunderclap:
1. You read the story of the ‘clap.ย You learn about the ‘clap launcher(s). You decide if this is a message you align with.
ย wanna join this misfit?
ย 2. You choose Facebook or Twitter and authorize Thunderclap to post on your behalf.ย This post happens only ONCE and looks like the below.ย Thunderclap needs access to friends list *only* to total the social reach of campaign.ย Thunderclap never spams or posts outside of the campaign.
it will look like this but from your account
3. That’s it.ย Ive signed up for campaigns to test this and, quite frankly, never noticed when the CLAP hit social media (oops).ย This ‘silent clap’ may not be the campaign launcher’s intention, but signifies how NOT spammy Thunderclap is.
I’m excited because it’s something new.
I’m curious because it’s an approach that meshes perfectly with our book (emphasis on social media and online community).
I’m asking (no matter how awkward and uncomfortable it feels) you consider being part of our online flash mob to remind people of the power of baby steps and progress over perfection.

What a great idea, and something that people can contribute with things other than their wallet….after all they say the best things in life are free, and you are definitely a best thing…..but speaking of that, I am actually gonna get your book..but I am bummed I won’t be able to read it on the plane ๐

April 15, 2015 at 6:46 pmYou’ve reminded me I must finalise my review. I try to only post one week before a book’s release (many publishers demand that). I probably should have checked with you though to see if you minded / preferred an earlier post.
I actually saw an ARC so a couple of the social media engagement questions (at the end of the chapters) weren’t finished then.
This is all so exciting!
