Ok…this might fall under the category of TMI, but… I have developed this unfun rash at my bra line, and it’s making me cranky. I’m sure I need to find a better exercise bra (not easy at my size), which I will do, but a few more weeks of this and I will have no skin left!
Your words of wisdom oh empress of exercise?
Ok People, Im throwing this back at you as I am a die hard Target-bought Champion brand sportsbra woman.
Can we help a struggling MizFit out?
Please to leave your suggestions in the comments.

June 26, 2008 at 3:10 pmNot sure what size the emailer is, but as a 40DDD (now DD) I have had excellent luck with Moving Comfort’s Fiona bra. The bottom band is plushy soft stuff next to your skin. Spendy, yes. Comfortable, YESSS. Uniboob, of course, but at my size there always is if you don’t want to jiggle much 🙂 IMHO worth the price.
available at REI and other stores (I actually found my at a running store)

June 26, 2008 at 3:42 pmSports Shield baby! It is my favorite anti-chaffing stuff. I put it on before a run on the two places my bra rubs (total target shopper as well) and I haven’t chaffed since. A bottle of it lasts a looooong time.

June 26, 2008 at 4:13 pmIf you haven’t already come across it, go to the blog “Fat Girl on a Bike” (http://fatgirlonabike.wordpress.com/) and scroll down the screen. She has a whole set of links on the left under the category “Training Gear” that will probably fit you if you are large up top (as am I).
They don’t all have sports bra links, but I know Junonia does, and I *think* Fit 2 Race might, too. (Fit 2 Race also has very cute running *skirts* – because I am a pretty, pretty princess that way. ;D)

June 26, 2008 at 4:40 pmI have to wear two for my twins and I am in need of more. I think I shall give this Champion bra a try, which style do you use?
Susan says
June 26, 2008 at 4:46 pmSounds like a “heat rash.” I thought of baby powder like Heather. …Heck, even baby diaper rash ointment may work!
Also I think buying a sports bra that wicks moisture away will help too. And make sure it doesn’t rub/chaff. Sweat + rubbing = itchy rash!

June 26, 2008 at 5:15 pmHey, I wear that same Champion bra. I still have to wear a “regular” bra underneath in order to get enough support, but I’m too cheap to buy a more expensive one, (despite my links above, LOL).

June 26, 2008 at 5:16 pmMy guess, like others, is that the rash is either heat rash or an irritant from the bra.
First, put all your bras – heck add all your workout gear, too – in a washer load of COLD water. ADD NOTHING TO THE WATER. I’ll bet you will be surprised at the soap residue that comes from “clean” clothes. When the rinse cycle comes around, add 1 cup of white vinegar and let the cycle finish.
Do NOT add any fabric softeners or use FS sheets in the dryer. If you can dry the clothes outside on the line.
For chafing or irritation, try a dusting of corn starch or baby powder to absorb excess perspiration and to reduce rubbing.
Then get a properly fitting sport bra as soon as you can.

June 26, 2008 at 5:18 pmI have like eight Champion bras and love them. But, I recently saw this article (http://www.slate.com/id/2193827/) on Slate, so maybe you can put the “girls” to work if the above options don’t work?

June 26, 2008 at 6:43 pmI second (third?) the bodyglide option. Actually, I’m cheap so I use Vaseline when this becomes a problem, usually it’s a heat rash/chafing combo problem. Slather problems areas with Vaseline — oh so glamorous!– and then hit the road. Good luck!
And, love that bra, I have just about every color.

June 26, 2008 at 6:57 pmDick’s had these Ativa compression bras that would fit pretty good at 40DD. Moving Comfort Maia was my fave at 38DD. the 36D’s really liked the Enell (as long as it wasn’t long distance). The 34D’s are now diggin on the Champion Women’s Powerback Wirefree Sports Bra #1693 with an activa compression bra over the top (cleavage cover mostly).

June 26, 2008 at 8:05 pmNothing new to add (I do the Vaseline thing), but I wanted to add my six Target Champion sports bras to the pile. Also wanted to add a thanks for the great tips for taking care of workout wear.

June 26, 2008 at 8:09 pmHey girls – old ranch woman here says it’s what the old ranch guys call “sweat blisters”, and the easiest way to PREVENT them? ANTI-PERSPIRANT! Armpit to armpit. Honest! (in the TMI category – the girls are sagging a little around here and the menopause steams things up, so the anti-perspirant has cleared that right up.)
Of course, I could be wrong. 🙂

June 26, 2008 at 8:15 pmI’m with everyone on the bodyglide, deoterant, vaseline, whatevs for prevention, and baby powder or something to soak up moisture if the prevention stuff isn’t working for ya. I’ll add my Champion bras to the pile and say that often Kohls has really great deals on them like buy 1 get the second 1/2 off etc if you have one in ur area check the sunday ads.

June 26, 2008 at 9:55 pmActually i went to the dr with that! He said it’s a big problem with women in the carribean (he’s jamaican) Anyway i ended up putting some cortizone cream on an i went for a few tanning sessions as i have psoriasis and the light definitely helps. He also said to use a soap/shampoo with anti-fungal ingredients. example there a blue dandruff shampoo which i can’t remember the name of that has this. Hope this helps. And if you find a good sports bra for bustier ladies please let me know 😉

June 27, 2008 at 12:08 amI have an alternative solution but one that possibly only v.v. large ladies like myself need to consider, and not slender ladies like MizFit:
** wear a small T-shirt or light weight vest / Tank top
underneath your bra and then 2nd T shirt over the top
I took to using this method a few years ago when I found that jogging had the effect of smashing my boobs against my chest all the time and causing bra rash.
I don’t use this method often but if I take to power walking or jogging outside again I may use it as I found it to be a really simple solution without investigating powders and creams etc.
Best wishes,
Sharon

June 27, 2008 at 4:19 amI was just going to say – use what many of my family members did for years and powder yourself with body powder before getting dressed — (DO NOT OVER-DO or you have embarrassing white powder showing through your clothes . . . ask me how I know . . .) This has always helped the sweat factor for me.
But also – if the rash doesn’t go away, see a doctor. I had a rash kind of like that one time and it ended up being a yeast infection (yes you can get those on your skin!) and I had to get medicine for it. GOOD LUCK!

June 27, 2008 at 1:14 pmI’ve had that!! It’s a fungus and you need to get a perscription to get rid of it. It will not go away on it’s on. It’s caused by that NASTY word chaffing and a non moisture wicking bra. Invest in one good bra and throw out the rest.
Still working on the blisters left from the heart rate monitor strap and a cheaper bra..It sucks! Good luck.

June 29, 2008 at 12:09 pmit’s already been said but i’ll say it again. body glide.
as a runner with big boobs but petite everywhere else (they’re not implants-i swear!!), i have the same problem. at least i did until i discovered body glide. a swipe underneath each boob and i’m good to go. yeah.

June 29, 2008 at 7:08 pmI’ll echo the comments.. on body glide and moisture wicking bra.. Moving Comfort makes a great one as well as champion. Activa.com or OneHanesPlace.com are good for getting sales on them both.
But before you go to a home remedy, make sure to get the rash checked to make sure it isn’t a fungus. I think one of the commenters stated that already. If its a fungus and you just go with a home remedy, powder, desitin,etc.. you may irritate more and it will take longer to heal and leave an ugly mark that you will work hard at removing.. 🙂

June 30, 2008 at 11:39 amIf you’re in the market for a new sportsbra, Title Nine’s selection is awe inspiring http://www.titlenine.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=674
they’re kind of pricey, but last time I was in the market for one I started there and then went to amazon and searched for their recommended brands.

July 3, 2008 at 10:15 amI get the Lily of France sport bras from Kohls. They have wide(r) slightly padded straps and underwire. I know the underwire sounds uncomfortable, but its actually on the outside, so its not against your skin. The bottom band never rides up, as it can on regular uni-boob bras, with larger chests. I’ve been wearing this type for about 10 years and I play volleyball competitively (8 hour tournaments, plus 2-3 leagues a week), run (sometimes), play soccer, and work out every day at lunch. I always hang to dry so the elastic doesn’t wear as quickly. I try to buy a new one every couple of month (about $30, but Kohl’s regularly has these on sale for about $20-$25). I’ve only had the underwire come out on one of them, and I can still wear it around the house after I pulled the other wire out (they are separate). The last time I bought one, they had come out with a dry-fit type material (instead of cotton), so I bought that one instead and I really like it. Oh—they also fasten in the back with 3 hooks (have you ever tried to pull an underwire bra on over the head, ouch?)!

May 31, 2010 at 7:50 pmHow do I pick out a comfy brassiere from the assorted marked bra names like, triumph, sorella and wacoal, etc? Besides getting the proper breasts size measurements, what else should I look at when picking out a bra? Particularly in regard to the versatile designs of the bra?
