MizFit is her own superhero. Are you yours?
Do you look in the mirror and say, “Dang, my butt looks great in these jeans!”?
Or maybe, “I am so proud of myself for choosing whole wheat over Wonder Bread at the store.”
How about: “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it — people like me!”?
Me neither.
But I’m working on it — and that’s the inspiration behind my new project, Operation Affirmation.
I’ve pledged to say one nice thing about myself everyday.
I’m proud of my decision to turn off the TV one night a week.
I think I have adorable toes.
My cheeks may be squishy but they’re part of what makes me unapologetically myself (and they’re great for big wide smiles).
Those are my affirmations.
What are yours? What makes you stand out? What can you claim as your own?
Affirmations can be big or small; public or anonymous. I just ask that you take 30 seconds to brag about yourself.
Then come share your self shoutout here.
If you need inspiration, check out Jessica, the viral video star:
And if MizFit has taught us anything — it’s that it’s OK to put yourself first.
I’m actually thinking this might be a good tribute:
Please to continue affirming.

July 22, 2010 at 2:22 amI think I missed the deadline on that other site, so I’ll just affirm here, if that’s OK. First, I love that YouTube kid! Second, here are my affirmations:
I tried a new Yoga class tonight and loved it! Yaye for me for trying something new and letting myself “try” different poses and being patient with myself.
Also, (and this is ongoing), I can see the humor in nearly every situation and consider myself pretty funny. I can always make someone laugh or smile, and I consider that a gift.
Thanks, MizFit! : )

July 22, 2010 at 4:53 amWell, do I appreciate my booty in some jeans, but my thighs are genetically disadvantaged (they have never been slim- slam-slimmy). But eh, my thighs also contribute to that “just right” curvy-ness that I love about me. So I today I will affirm that my thighs are da bomb.

July 22, 2010 at 5:41 amMy affirmation, currently, is how I love that I can see life’s metaphors in every situation.
I embrace those “feelings” that use to send me to the comfort foods. Those feelings mean I am still alive!

July 22, 2010 at 5:55 amAwesome idea. And a big fat no to me. I’m more likely to whine about what I don’t like than find something I do. I need to work on that.

July 22, 2010 at 7:04 amLove it!!! You are so right, positive affirmations are important. I wrote a bunch down on 3×5 cards and try to “study” them often. It is a new thing to learn. After years of picking apart my body, it’s a challenge to turn that around!

July 22, 2010 at 9:02 amLOVE IT.
Truly.
The thing about toes made me giggle. There’s something to be said for looking in the mirror and appreciating all that we have, inside and out… life is swell.

July 22, 2010 at 11:38 amI have this great sweat and jeans combo that I always check out my butt in the mirror. Hunni laughs at me and then goes “yeah you look great”.
I try to find at least one think a day that I can compliment myself on instead of tearing myself down. Doesn’t always work but I try 🙂

July 22, 2010 at 12:25 pmI’ve been letting too much negative self-talk in lately. Never mind the “them” from yesterday…”they” could care less what I’m doing, but I tend to be kind of hard on myself at times. Thanks for the reminder that I’m far more likely to do better if I use positive language with myself.
(P.S. to the Editor – Katy’s link in the bottom note needs a little fix – it has an extra “http//” in the link address.)

July 22, 2010 at 9:39 pmGreat guest post Katy. Love the self affirmations. I think it is so important for us all to say nice things about ourselves everyday. I am doing that for a few weeks now, and it is helped a lot with my depression. Keep up the great work!
