First, a check in: how was your week & how did this all pan out?
Make any strides in silencing the negative self chatter within? Have any AH HA! moments?
We’d love to hear about them if you’d wanna share. You never know when *your* Ah Ha! moment mightcould be just the trigger someone else needs to have theirs.
On to the links.
This first one more falls under a like and not a love for the MizFit, but there are some good tips there nonetheless.
Im confident most of you would say SKIP THE FAST FOOD. PERIOD. yet, living in the real world, it’s best to be prepared. (oh, and number 8? Id say ditch the entire thing. We (the royal) can add in extra good, complex carbs later if need be).
In keeping with Tuesday’s Tips Post, here is more than you’d ever wanna know with regards to what baking soda can do.
Who knew it was such a wonderthang (marianne? I know you did.)!
Got even better baking soda tips? hit us up in the comments, please.
This next link is to a blogger I really enjoy (even if perusing her blog inevitably has me heading for the kitchen).
Since this is LINK LOVE and not MizFit Yammer Time I shall let her post speak for itself—please to scroll down to the intuitive eating part.
The first line of description for this product says it all: Take your “conscience” along on your next trip.
What does MizFit say? Click. Read. Laugh. Think “at one point in my life I so would have wanted that.” Reflect on how you’ve begun to set yourself free from the scale which binds. Curse its creators. Move to next link.
The silly link.
The MizFit would personalize anything and EVERYTHING if she could link (please to also see this).
Please to enjoy & dont let your boss catch you (if by BOSS you mean Toddler Tornado—–which I do.)
LinkLastly, a gift for your body. A healthy food clean eating link. Voila.
They had me at what’s fresh in my area PLUS shopping guides, recipes, and tips.
And now for the freebie.
People, Im a smarter, wiser MizFit than I was a few months ago. Remember the Great Propel Debate of ’08? (how could you not? some of us are still recovering.)
I learned that day how passionate people are about their water.
Me? Ill admit to mixing a fair amount of flavor (flava?) in with my plain ole regular water consumption.
Ill admit to really, really enjoying the infused variety as a treat (Ive been known to say “everything is better with a touch of pure cane sugar” too.) .
As a result I was all over OWater’s generous friday freebie offer of a mailing a sampling o’infused flavors to the MizFit winner of the week.
HOWEVER, since I now know the Bumbling Band far more intimately, I also requested that—-should the winner shun the sugar—-we have the choice of a sampling of the SIMPLY WATER (with natural fruit flavorings/electrolytes) as well.
It’s the winner’s decision (and no. you dont have to tell the Band what youre getting. that can be between you and the OWater peeps).
We’re all about freedom of hydration choice up in herre.

June 6, 2008 at 4:51 amI know I should go find out all the great things I could be doing with baking soda… but I’m guessing, like vinegar, many of the things baking soda aids in are CHORES!
Hate the chores.
And since I’ve been known to drink Evil Diet Soft Drinks on occasion, I will cast no aspersions on another’s beverage choice. Some of us need the flavah.

June 6, 2008 at 5:09 amHow do people have time to take pictures of their food when they write about it? I’m too much about the eat. But I like the simple heatlhy stuff she showed. Will have to spend time next week when I’m free free freeeeee from the chains of public education.

June 6, 2008 at 5:48 amI adored Love of Oats’ take on intuitive eating–it’s something I really want to implement in my own life. Unfortunately, my intuition love peanut M ‘n Ms…

June 6, 2008 at 5:55 amI want the Fruit Rollups! I would write on them, “Do not eat this. It is mom’s.” Maybe with a nuclear symbol.
Think that would stop the horde of locusts in this house? No, I don’t think so either.

June 6, 2008 at 6:24 amHere’s a baking soda cleaning tip that’s super easy: Put about a cup of water and a few tablespoons of baking soda in a glass bowl and place it in the microwave. Heat for about 4 minutes and LEAVE THE DOOR CLOSED for another 3-4 minutes. Open door, wipe the inside of the microwave and it will be sparkling clean and free of nasty splatters with very little effort.
MizFit says
June 6, 2008 at 6:29 amThanks seekatyrun!
I totally needed that tip.

love the oats blog, makes me feel all warm & fuzzy.
Owater how I love thee.
You satisfy my thirst quenching needs

Please, O please, come home with me
I promise you will be happy.
I don’t even care you make me pee

June 6, 2008 at 7:20 amThe Bag Lady loved the baking soda link – she knew most of those, but has been looking for a way to get rid of rust, so now must try the cut potato and baking soda trick!
She was saddened that the fresh food map was only for the States. Oh well, she’s pretty sure she knows what’s fresh locally….at least, in her own garden!
Great poem, Fitarella!

June 6, 2008 at 7:34 amStill working on the silencing the negative chatter. I imagine it will be a work in progress.
I like the personalized soda. I don’t drink soda, but I’d have fun carrying around a personalized brand of water! That might shake things up a bit at the next exec. meeting I sit in on! 🙂
I really like the map of in-season foods. Yep, asparagus is definitely the “in” food right now, and farm-fresh asparagus absolutely delicious! 🙂

June 6, 2008 at 8:04 amI don’t do fast food often – mostly when traveling or to satisfy a craving. But when I do, I always feel a little better about Subway than the others. Thanks for killing that. LOL
I’m hit and miss with the flavored waters. Love some of them and only like others. My fav I can never find in stores. Fruit2O has apple and it tastes like actual juice of an apple was added not the fake apple flavor but I can never find it in a store. A meeting I used to go to quarterly always had it and it exists on the website but I must be the only one who would buy it in the store.

June 6, 2008 at 8:14 amNeed to read this post three times to get everything.
Love Owater. Thought you people would never touch it. But , it’s only sugar, no chemicals are added. So put me down for the contest! I’ve actually asked my local market to carry it, but, haven’t seen it yet. Say Hi to Amy M. for me.

June 6, 2008 at 8:20 amThe mini traveling scale is so cute! And totally ridiculous. If I started toting a scale around with me everywhere I went I would become concerned for my mental state VERY quickly (although its so little and cute that maybe it’d be a lot less scary for some people?).
The Epicurious site looks very interesting, I’ll have to check it out. And you know us all so well in regards to the OWater!
I HEART baking soda. Thanks so much for the link- I knew it was an awesome product but I didn’t know it could do THAT many things!

June 6, 2008 at 8:23 amI’m so behind on my MizFit reading lately. I do love me some Ah HA! moments and try to stifle the neg self talk all the time.
I have more thoughts, but I feel guilty about letting the wee one watch Barney (I hate thatfreakingpurpledino) while I internet.
One quick (totally off topic question). If I joined a chi chi gym on 4/30 and they STILL haven’t set up my first (and FREE) training session, should I bag them, with lots of rumblings about bad customer service and how they should refund my money?

June 6, 2008 at 10:10 amOk, I gotta say that IF I find myself at the fast food joint, and it’s rare, but IF, I am there, it is probably because I am hungover and nothing cures a hang over like fries. And life is not worth living if you can’t have the occasional bag o fries. I don’t like to eat at places where I just know that the surly kid behind the grill is spitting into the food… Baking soda is for chocolate chip cookies!! Does everyone but me already know that frozen trail mix is awesome? Can you kinda tell where I’m at today?
“O” Water? Really? Is it THAT good???

June 6, 2008 at 1:33 pmIntuitive eating comes naturally to babies and kids, then we teach them to eat 3 X day and stop listening to their bodies. When my kids are hungry, even if it’s an hour before dinner, they eat. It can be something small and healthy such as a piece of fruit or some mozzarella, but eat they do.
I am trying to do the same myself.

June 6, 2008 at 1:54 pmNot fair, got the ears hidden in your image! Whatyouhidinthere, sister?? You a good flyer? 🙂
You think there is a big difference between the goal of being strong and fit, which I think is the way you, I, and many of the mizfits think, and the whole lose weight-lose weight thing, don’t you? One of the many reasons I like yours and TGFE site, is the focus is on fitness!

June 6, 2008 at 2:28 pmMust clean house. No time to read the other (insightful, I’m sure) comments. So just: Hi everyone!
I’m going to be battling with the mean thoughts all weekend, so any happy thoughts you could send my way would be extra-helpful.
Off to scrub the house (and perhaps try some peanut butter with strawberries. I’m thinking it might be a fun taste treat).
Oh, and you can leave me off the drawing. Not for any noble reason. I just don’t like most sweet drinks. It’s a blessing and a curse (I literally only drink plain water, a little almond milk, and about two pineapple juices a year).
Cindy says
June 7, 2008 at 8:28 pmBaking Soda is a necessity in our house! It’s amazing and requires little scrubbing time on my part. Anything to keep from doing housework.

June 8, 2008 at 12:48 amI never knew baking soda could do so much!! Thank you for putting this out there. I am going to give some of these a try.
Valerie says
June 8, 2008 at 7:06 amD’you know, I’m odd…I just can’t drink the flavored waters. I love my plain, boring old water…though I am picky about brands, if it’s bottled. Mostly I filter it at home as I’m trying (with nebulous success) to limit my plastic-bottle useage…
As for the negative chatter – I’ve been making a concentrated effort to switch the negative to positive and it’s working at least to some extent. My outlook has been way more positive and I’m dealing with the stressful situations a lot better. I think that’s huge, considering that stress is probably the biggest obstacle to living healthy, at least for me. 🙂
So thanks again!

June 9, 2008 at 10:04 amThis is Amy from owater. BK, just wanted you to know we make two lines of owater… and our unsweetened owater line contains no sugar (no fake sweeteners or coloring either), it’s just pure water, real fruit flavor and electrolytes. The flavor is bright, but not sweet — more like having a piece of sliced fruit in your water.
Our other line is infused owater, which does have a little bit of pure cane sugar — but again, no fructose or fake sweetners, so it doesn’t have that syrupy sweet taste and it is lower in calories than all the fructose-laden sports drinks.
So whoever wins the Friday Freebie, just let us know which you want to try or we can send a mix of both.
Love the “ode to owater.” And hi back to Rachel M.
thanks again!
Amy
