Today I am practicing what I preach.
Today I am choosing to spend the time I’d normally use to blog in ways entirely non-computer related.
Today I will dance to Single Ladies until I fall over in exhaustion in the name of cardio.
Today I will hoist the Tornado overhead so she can swing on the monkey bars and I will deem it resistance training.
Today I will treasure every fleeting, amazing, tantrum’y moment which is the age four.
Today I will play the Yucky Witch to the Tornado’s Snow White with nary a blog or dayjob thought in my head.
Today I will not multi-task.
Today I will be (wholly utterly & completely) present.

February 24, 2010 at 6:29 amI too am looking forward to the day ahead. I’m taking the day off from work to assist mom who is having minor surgery. Feels good to be of service. Her schedule is such that I was able to sleep in and I’m going to an 8 a.m. Boot Camp class. Feels good to be of service AND get my own needs met.

February 24, 2010 at 6:53 amYES!!!!
Last Thursday I came home from being on the road for 4 days. My 9 year old was all over me, as I was taking off my office clothes…she had a million stories to tell me…first I wanted my space…a breath later and a big time realization let me realise how present they are, and how we (adults) just float around in our thoughts. We had the most amazing half hour together after that moment.
Awesome MIZ!!!
on a side note…I finally put up a video π
Scary stuff…I admire you even more now π

February 24, 2010 at 7:14 amI think the “not multitasking” part is crucial to being present.
Last week my disordered eating returned with a vengeance. So I took a couple days and went for really long walks and did a bit of “puttering” around the house; all single-thought tasks but things that were still “productive” so that I didn’t freak out about not *doing* anything. And I found that it helped enormously. This week I’m re-building a healthy relationship with food by BEING PRESENT.

February 24, 2010 at 7:46 amBeing present is one of the hardest things I’ve tried to do. I even have gone as far as covering up my caller id at work so when the phone rings, I have to literally stop what I’m doing and just answer the phone because I never know if its a coworker or a doctor or a patient.
Kat says

February 24, 2010 at 7:55 amThat was pretty much my day yesterday. It was nice to log in today and realize that nothing fell apart without my constant supervision. Oh, crap happened, let there be no doubt. But it would’ve happened if I were hovering or not. So I’m glad I got a day to recharge. Hope you enjoy your day.

February 24, 2010 at 8:17 amThis is funny because I just made pancakes (whole wheat with flax, of course) while we all danced to All the Single Ladies. My girls were impressed that I could flip cakes and shake my booty. That kind of multitasking feels good:-)
