Ahhh.
Id never lie to you (or the company) and a few months ago Id probably have said a big ole NO to doing this product review.
It wasnt so much I was against ‘body toning apparel’ I would most likely have thought interesting. not for me. responded with a polite no & never pondered the sportswear again.
Flash forward to my current workout derailed state and quite frankly nothing sounded MORE appealing than a pair of bootcut body toning pants to this MiznotdoingmuchcardioFit.
I wore em.
I walked in em.
I hung out with Rodney Yee via DVD in them.
I adored them.
But let me back up.
First the pants:**
To my SHOCK the Tornado saw me in them & immediately said I like how those pants look on your bumbum (!)
I wore em with sneakers for my gym-stretching session. Still love!
The obligatory rear view so you know what that’s like
(**the husband has been traveling so I was compelled to self-shoot the photos. Because I adore you all immensely I asked a complete stranger to take the booty-shot. She thought I was a complete nutball.)
The bottom line:
What I loved about the Fila Body Toning System pants:
- They lifted my booty. Sure the Tornado’s comment was exceedingly weird unusual, but I do have to say my 41 year old bumbum was less longing to meet the backs of my knees in these pants. TMI? Probably—but it’s true. And really who DOESNT wanna work out more when they already LOOK better
- They werent sausage casing TIGHT (I feared. I feared.)ย They were snug but comfy.ย In addition there was zero camel’s toe. Dont lie to me ladies you were wondering.
- The body toning pants made me feel energized. You may feel free to laugh (I did. at myself) but the pants reminded me I had leg muscles! Do they *really* do this as they claim: The compression makes the muscles work harder and will get up to a 50% increase in the work the muscles are required to perform. I almost dont care.ย Even if it’s only placebo effect I will take it.
- I loved them to workout in & with platform flip-flops to hang out in. I felt fancy ambling around townย in them and not as though Id just donned flip-flops with my workout wear.
What I disliked about the Fila Body Toning System pants/in general:
- Lack of color Yep. Probably just me but I’d love a pair in olive or deep purple.
- I longed for pockets. Funky jean-style back pockets (yep. again. could just be me.)
- Price. They aren’t cheap, yet if they work do we (the royal) really care?ย Tough to say.ย Im one, even in this economy, to invest in my workout gear. I have found the cheap stuff does not hold up.
- Im not one of their ‘real women models’ (yes I said it).
So there you have it.
My thoughts and, as sometimes happens up in herre, you dont have to simply take my misfit word for it.
You may be entered to win an item from the Fila Body Toning System for the lowlow price of a comment below.

Me? I need the system and would love to try it out.
I agree even if I only think it works that’s better than my Walmart sweats.

November 23, 2010 at 5:05 amHa ha! I love the pants! You look great in em. Love that asked a perfect stranger to take a booty shot! ๐ And loved the info on the, ahem, uh, toe thing….yes I was wondering!

November 23, 2010 at 5:18 amI have seen this kind of thing in magazines lately and am curious.
I’d like a body toning running skirt (or is that just a girdle? LOL).

I’m laughing at what the Tornado said, too.

November 23, 2010 at 6:08 amThey look great! I agree that when you feel good about how you look at the gym, you want to work harder. Whatever works! I also sometimes wear my workout gear out on errands, anything that will make it more likely for me to get to the gym!

November 23, 2010 at 6:14 amThey look like great workout pants to me! I have a pair of Fila running capris that I love. My fear with pants ( as always) is that they will be wayyyy tooo long for my little 5’1″ body.

November 23, 2010 at 6:32 amIll admit I was really surprised the bootcut pants werent miles too long. I anticipated having to, uh, trim them ๐

November 23, 2010 at 6:15 amThese are exactly the kind of clothing I wear around the house, especially if I’m trying to get back “in the groove”. Wearing floppy, baggy sweats just makes me feel floppy and baggy. For Day One Back On Track, get up, make the bed and pull on these pants, put on some good music and get the day started right!

November 23, 2010 at 6:39 amSo would these be a two in one purchase? I lovely lululemons for working from home wear but after a killer leg workout or run i will sometimes even sleep in compression pants to help soreness. Would think these might help promote blood flow and recovery.
I might have to try them and see! Thx for the review of no camel toe. Hahah! Love it!!

November 23, 2010 at 7:26 amYes, they fo make for a nice rear view. That’s enough to make them worth buying. I’d probably go for the resistance capris…I think I’d be standing in a puddle of fabric if I bought the full length.

November 23, 2010 at 8:12 amFirst off, I have the worst butt ever, so any pants that can lift them up is an absolute necessity.
I would love these pans if they fit comfortably, were soft, and did what they said they do. For $55, I am not keen to buy them, but who knows. If they worked, then, like you said, it’s an investment.
Diana - Scale Junkie says
November 23, 2010 at 8:13 amReally is there such a thing as TMI among friends? I doubt they come in my size but if they could keep my gut and my butt in place, without a toe and feeling thermo-nuclear tight…damn, what a miracle.

November 23, 2010 at 8:18 amI agree with the Tornado, your bumbum looks great in those pants. ๐ I’ve been looking for comfy yoga style pants that look good enough to wear all the time. Allison says
November 23, 2010 at 9:35 amI like that they seem a little long because I am tall and that is definitely an issue for me. I don’t really expect pants to help me to get tone, but if they help me look tone, that is great.
Shelley B says
November 23, 2010 at 9:40 amDayum, you look amazing in those pants…and you look fantastic on a normal day, so the fact that these can make you look like this? WOWZA!!!
I love the compression for a cardio workout – when things (yes, my thighs, butt and stomach) are jiggling, it’s distracting and I don’t feel as good about myself. With compression I definitely feel more athletic. I’d love to try something out from their system!

November 23, 2010 at 11:18 amI’d love to FINALLY have a high-quality pair of workout pants! The stuff I buy now just feels so flimsy compared to what I imagine a pricier pair must feel like!
RG says
November 23, 2010 at 11:36 amI desperately need new workout pants! And I’ve never had high-quality stuff like that, wow. But for the commenter who asked about cell phones – I shouldn’t give it up, but a good sports bra will act as pockets in about 4 locations (two straps, front and rear). I’ve been known to stick frozen water bottles in two and my mp3 player in the 3rd.

November 23, 2010 at 11:54 amI never, ever comment, but I had to on this one. November 23, 2010 at 1:58 pmi have wondered about the new tops and pants that are coming out… I could see that maybe by being tight they remind you to contract your muscles and that would cause toning

November 23, 2010 at 8:11 pmI agree about the pockets. I think that is the ONLY way they could improve them. At least an MP3 pocket.
I have had my pair since a little before they were released, and have washed them MULTIPLE times (like prolly 50- cause I wear them for every stinking workout). Seriously, kids- these pants are TOUGH. No stretching out, they feel brand new when I put them on, and for those of us with belly hangovers, they hold tummies in so they don’t bounce around. Nice touch.
Worth every penny. ๐

November 24, 2010 at 7:42 amThere are many things I spend too much time obsessing about, but my butt is not one of them (oddly enough). You’re my go-to for all the weird and unique stuff out there!
I want these ๐

November 24, 2010 at 10:48 amI was surprised that you thought they “felt” different and “energizing” Now I’m curious… They look great!

November 24, 2010 at 10:57 amYou should have done this give away before Thanksgiving and had your winners b log about wearing them to Thanksgiving dinner ๐
I’d love to win these. My bumbum needs lifting!!

November 24, 2010 at 12:40 pmI love the energizing aspect. If pants feel comfortable and fit well and make the booty shapely, IM ALL FOR IT!

November 24, 2010 at 12:54 pmFrom the rear, I’d like to ย have achieve some distinct definition where ย my ass and my thighs meet. If these clothes can perform that feat, then viewing my ” thutt” would be less heinous to passers by.
From the front- not having camel toe in a pair of workout pants would make all my ย lips curve upward in a ย smile ( which due to the fabulousness of these wonderpants would only be visible from the neck up)!
Just sayin’…

November 24, 2010 at 2:32 pmI’d totally try those! Love your comment about how it might be all placebo effect but they make you just FEEL better. I fell in love with MBT shoes for the same reason…bought them because I heard they might help my back problems, and have continued to wear them ALL the time because they make me walk with a bounce in my step (and honestly do alleviate back pain), NOT because they are a “toning” shoe. I’m not sure if they’ve made my legs any more toned, but they make me enjoy my everyday walking more!

November 24, 2010 at 2:46 pmYou’re not one of their models? *gasp*
I could use these because while I invested in summer workout clothes, I don’t have much that fits for colder weather. Plus, I mean they’re cute, right?!

November 24, 2010 at 3:12 pmThose look great on you! Between all your tweets and now this post of love, I’m tempted to check them out. I like my bumbum, but anything that can make it look better would be nice. Now the pants that could make my tummy pooch go away? Those would be worth hundreds to me, heh.

November 24, 2010 at 5:17 pmIsn’t great when you LIKE how a pair of pants fits? It is such a treat ๐ When I find pants that fit well (any kind, from athletic to business), I am tempted to buy several pairs of them. You never know when you will find another good fitting pair…

November 25, 2010 at 6:57 amI am with you! If I feel as though I look good I workout harder.

November 25, 2010 at 9:45 amLove the lack of camel toe and agree that quality stuff is better. I was prancing around town in my Lucy’s yoga pants yesterday and commented to myself (no one else was listening) that I should get some more because they really are more comfortable and attractive that the crap I buy at Target.
I hope you have a wonderful T Day.

Cool blog!!!

Where can I find these in stores?
Thank you.

November 26, 2010 at 6:19 pmI have been looking at these for a while. I think I will like two things about them. The way they already make you look slimmer and if there is any improvement in muscle tone during my exercise videos. I run, but sometimes just do dance video’s at home, but never get the same burn. If these pants could ratchet up the intensity some that would be awesome.

November 26, 2010 at 9:45 pmI have an almost 41 year old bumbum and it’s about twice the size of yours. Of course, yours is tiny so mines not THAT big (having lost 90 pounds in the last year or so) Anyway, they look great and I’d love to try a pair, I’m always looking to update my work out gear.

November 27, 2010 at 1:09 pmWhile I think the “body toning” thing is just a gimmick (yeah, you’re not going to burn more calories by wearing pants, unless maybe they’re weighted pants), I also think these are darn cute and would love to have a pair to wear to the gym! You’ve gotta love pants that give your booty extra beauty.

November 27, 2010 at 1:11 pmI absolutely love the way the pants look on you and I’ve been dying to try them. I live no where near a Dick’s Sporting Goods store and the promo code I got isn’t working on the Fila website. I’m dying to try these pants and even become a real model. They’re so amazing!

November 27, 2010 at 4:49 pmSorry late to the party.
The pants look good on you. I worry trying to hit the gym in pants. I sweat and I mean SWEAT!! Wearing pants can be a problem for me. But, could be worth the try. And points for asking the stranger to take the pix. Much boldness on your part!!

November 28, 2010 at 5:02 amHi MizFit,
I found your blog through a google search and I love it.

I love your writing.

November 28, 2010 at 9:19 amThanks for the honest review! You answered so many questions for me, and really make me want the pants more. I just started taking Hot Hula Fitness Classes to help workout my core area, so you always have to keep your tummy and butt tucked (or in my case sucked) in, and I heard the Fila Toning helps you with that. My goal is to have maybe at least a two pack or some definition in my abs by Spring Break! I’m hoping it can happen with a little assistance from Fila.

November 28, 2010 at 1:36 pmI’m a “real woman model”, haha. After losing 110#, my butt could use some lift (despite five million squats and lunges). I want toning pants! (even if it’s only a placebo)

November 28, 2010 at 4:15 pmI am (almost) always interested in the clothes you offer up here, because they’re things that I might love or might hate but won’t spend money on unless (until) I know I love them. That’s just how I spend, most of the time…

November 29, 2010 at 9:44 pmI don’t own any Fila gear and when I first saw these I was like “Oh great another b.s. piece of overpriced workout gear with clever marketing” but your honest review and pics have actually swayed me! I’m asian with a toned but kinda flatish booty (even with all the dang glute work I do!)
Thanks for the review!!!

November 30, 2010 at 5:10 pmPregnant with my second child and this time I didn’t gain the minimal weight like I did with my first. I can’t wait to take advantage of whatever I can. Breast feeding, toning apparel… She’s due in 6 beautiful weeks. =D
I do have a little rant, however: It amazes me that some folks believe they can be couch potatoes and expect this stuff to work, despite what all the reports say. “Improves workout.” That means if you sit on your butt all the time, nothing is going to help you.
Anyway. Thanks for the shot.

December 3, 2010 at 6:32 amI love the look of these. Is the first pair chocolate brown?
I have to confess that most of my workout clothes are Target specials, but I am as intrigued by the butt lifting thing as anyone. Though I have to say, my butt is pretty lifted on its own. Sir Mix-a-Lot would approve.

December 24, 2010 at 12:54 amI like the look of these pants, I do hope they making them in tall sizes with at least a 32 inseam we tall girls workout also. I do love a fitted and supporting gear that improves my hard won figure.I lost 30 pounds and 4inches in my waist alone and at least 1-2 inch every where else Run,biking, kayak, power walking, roller blade, weights and etc. I consider summer fun as running 6-8 miles and kayak 11 miles. The more flexible my athletic gear is the better,if I can go run the hop in my kayak and feel that my gear doesn’t loose shape if I get a little wet.
