Subtitle: What Ive learned after a few days of being 42.

 

  • Youre never too old to match.  (It’s hard to tell in the pic below, but our tees match.  She proclaimed us doppelgangers. I swooned.)

  • The Tornado Kids don’t care if you are gluten free–they still want them some cheap from-the-box-made cake on *your* birthday (and even though we’re detoxed she ATE CAKE.).

Yep. We baked cake-sicles.

  • Gifts are far, far sweeter when not only bestowed upon you.

  • Regardless what the media tells me I should feel– I find it far more fascinating than depressing Im 42 and my hands look 42 (ok they look older. I lifeguarded way too long back in the baby oil days to kid myself about this). Monday was a fantastic, family-filled reminder of the fact Im just thankful to be here—wrinkles be damned.

To the PARTY thing.

The misleading blog-post title which isnt actually misleading.

Most of it was in reference to my rip roaring BirthdayMonday, but indeed some of it is in reference to the below.

To a real  party.

A twitter party Im hosting for Fila BTS (pleeease insert inappropriate joke here regarding my being the hostess with the mostess. thank you).

Here are the details:

  • July 25 from 7p central to 8p central
  • The hashtag is #filatoning (most easily navigated through tweet deck)
  • There will be treats & prizes! (free Dr. Praegers items, Exhale Spa Core Fusion DVDs, 1 week membership at any of the 18 Exhale Spa locations, 1 spa therapy treatment at any of the 18 Exhale Spa locations, Massage treatment at any of the 18 Exhale Spa locations, TEN one month supply winners from popchips)
  • You can RSVP for the soiree HERE

    I always thought the media onslaught would lessen with age, but it does not.

  8. Im laughing that I thought I got up early 🙂 Yes I did let her eat the cakesicles. It’s a birthday celebration right? and she (as all kids seem to intuitively do) took 3 small bites, set the cakesicle down, and forgot all about it.

    The bracelet? James Avery. It’s my FAMILY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING reminder for those days/moments when I mightcould get distracted by a shiny object 🙂

  10. I absolutely LOVE this picture – it’s probably my favorite of the three of you! Everything you’ve said here, well it shines right through the person you are when someone has the pleasure of meeting you. Happy Birthday again miss fabulous!!

  21. Happy Birthday! That’s a fantastic family portrait! Also I love the idea of cakesicles. Um also I think I love all the other things in this post.

    I just introduced the hubs to Arrested Development on Hulu last weekend. He watched, he laughed, he asked if we could stay up late and watch the next episode. Horray – now that he’s passed this test, it’s assured. I can procreate with this man. Our kids will be short, blue-eyed and have a sense of humor!

  24. Sounds like a perfect birthday. I’ll be 44 in 3 months & I have to say it just gets better. And I think you’ll find that the TT will come to the realization on her own that although she might crave that cake (or whatever), over time she will realize that it doesn’t make her feel good. That’s certainly been the case w/ my daughter. I’ll have to pass on the Twitter party, though: I’ll be on vacation. Probably fishing or bowling w/ my dad, or hanging at the beach. And I know what you’ll say about that. Have fun!
