Yes, People.
Even with the relocation & move to a new ‘hood I am still that mom.
Im excited when the Tornado has a day off from school & even MORE SO when it’s not because Ive slunk up to the office, fabricated an excuse & stolen her away for a day of play.
Β Today, to my delight, is a school-sanction playday.
An opportunity to git up early, work-like-the-wind, and spend the rest of the day living my priorities.
Ive planned some of this:
Lots of this:
Perhaps some joyriding:
Definitely this. LOUDLY:
MAYBE a little of this?
We will probably get new tattoos:
Im not yet certain what else….
All I know is Im typically this:
but not today.
And you?
- Is your “work” technically closed today?
- Are you self-employed, able to work in the wee hours & gifted daywithchild?
- What are YOUR plans on this Presidents Day 2013?

February 18, 2013 at 4:48 amOkay, I do have to go to school today, but maybe it will be better if I belt out Defying Gravity in the car on the way there… I think I will!

February 18, 2013 at 5:56 amI’ll be a little about work, a little about fun today. Unless I can figure out how to make the work fun, and then it will be all day fun. And possibly some nappage.
Enjoy your holiday!

February 18, 2013 at 7:14 amSounds like you have some good stuff going on today! I already trained my clients this morning, so the rest of the day is for my boys (who are out of school)! The weather is supposed to be good today (hopefully we will hit 60 degrees), so we will be grilling out some burgers with the boys and hopefully doing some other fun stuff! Enjoy your day my friend!

February 18, 2013 at 7:20 amSine the last 3 days have involved no blogging or internets and only family time I might take today to catch up. Since hubby is at work and it’s my day off I think a lot of family lounging is in order π

Tornado probably does better than me! π Big Thelma & little Louise – cute! I think I could handle a tattoo like that too! π

February 18, 2013 at 9:04 amAlas, no President’s Day here (no President being the reason and we don’t celebrate Prime Minister’s Day…. hmmm).
But last Monday was Family Day and we did have the day off to hang together. I did exactly what you’re doing. Got up early, got my work done and relaxed with my kids the rest of the day.
Have a great one!

February 18, 2013 at 10:39 amIt’s Presidents Day? How clueless am I?
The awesomeness of self-employment does tend to lead to a certain disconnect with “real life” in terms of weekends, holidays etc.
On the other hand, I get to make my own holidays and schedule, and work while others play, but play or shop when others are toiling and it’s less crowded. Thanks for the warning that MY weekday haunts may have other people in them today, accck!
katie says
February 18, 2013 at 12:09 pmsadly my work is not closed today. I’m hoping that when E gets older and we have these kind of holidays, I’ll be able to step away and enjoy some kiddo time!
Enjoy your day off!

February 18, 2013 at 12:28 pmSchool was out last week for Mardi Gras, so we don’t get President’s Day off from school. That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun anyway, before and after!

February 18, 2013 at 12:43 pmI go to a private college, and according to them Presidents day is not worth acknowledging and I have class with an exam later on this evening! Enjoy your day off with your daughter! I’m sure you’re having a blast!

February 18, 2013 at 1:40 pmEnjoy your day together!! I LOVE the Tornado’s hat. I think I need one for each of my boys. Self-employed means that Mommy gets the morning to try to get some work done and Daddy gets the afternoon.
