OK, People, we are moving forward with the MizFit Mag.
Last week we talked basics & this week I want to get a little more specific.
First, there is absolutely no need for you to do anything but read (or not) & move on with your life.
If you are interested in participating here’s the deal:
- I am looking for articles for the first issue.
- They need to be blog post length (I know this varies. 700-800 wordsish), proofread as best you can, & sent in a word document (dates will be announced soon).
- I need book reviews (anything to do with health, fitness, healthy living etc), recipe/cooking articles (healthy is best but no need to have all the nutritional information included if it’s something youve created yourself), articles on running (newbie, long-term runner, anybody any topic), yoga articles (any kind, any level).
- When you send in an article be sure to include a 2-3 sentence bio mentioning any sites or blogs you would like to have linked.
- Overexcited? Ready? Send your word doc. to MizFitMag@yahoo.com . If for some reason it doesnt fit in the initial issue I’ll let you know/file the submission away for subsequent issues.
- An ad sheet will be posted here soon. If you know you are interested in advertising feel free to email me at MizFitMag@yahoo.com.
That’s pretty much it for now. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates.
I cant help but assume (and hope) Ive triggered more questions than Ive answered so please to chime in below if you need clarification.
Next, can you believe it has been NINE MONTHS since I posted this PB2 video.
In case you hadn’t seen I wanted to let you know about a contest PB2 is holding (please to note I have no affiliation or association with PB2. I just love me some video contests):
We have seen so many videos about PB2 we want to show our appreciation by organizing a little friendly competition. Create your own video – including why you like PB2, how you use it, and recipes. The Bell Plantation Team will review all videos and vote on the three top entries.
Prizes: First place winner: $300.00; second place: $200.00; and third place: $100.00.
Contest Rules:
* Email your video to: contest@bellplantation.com
* Videos must not exceed 3 minutes.
* Videos must be received by midnight, March 20, 2009.
* Winners will be chosen by Bell Plantation, Inc.
* Winners will be notified by March, 27, 2009.
* Bell Plantation reserves the right to display videos on our website www.bellplantation.com
* Please include contact information with video: name, telephone number, mailing address, and email address.
Im not sure I have the time to enter—but if you do feel free to share your video with the rest of the Bumbling Band as Id love to post a few here for all to see!
Lastly, Im excited to announce that we’re having another visit by Hungry Girl!
Ive asked my interview questions but reserved the right to ask one more.
So please to suggest away. What would YOU wanna ask ask HG should you have the opportunity?
(Ren Man announced he wanted to know if she’s really hungry. I rolled my eyes & decided to pass the asking opportunity on to you.)
*whew*
That’s a lotta Wednesday chickenbus, I know.
Hit me up with your questions (mag submissions/ads) & queries (for the Girl behind the Hunger) in the comments.

The mag is going to be a lot of me which I dont share here (more personal stuff) & a lot of what YOU want to see and make it.
Im excited (and also thisclose to getting Ren Man to do a column about MUSIC. Totally his passion).
Katie says
March 4, 2009 at 6:00 amHungry Girl: is it all second nature for her now? does she just eat healthy out of habit?
what does she say to people who think she eats too many processed foods?
Thanks Miz for the opportunity.
Tom Rooney says
March 4, 2009 at 6:22 amI agree with Ren Man, people need to know if she really is hungry. 🙂

HOORAY for the magazine!!
Nancy says
March 4, 2009 at 6:37 amI’ve never heard of the PB2 before.
Is it really good or just passable?
My question for HG is this:
I eat as you do and am constantly criticized.
It works well for me.
What would you suggest I say to my criticzers?
Thanks MizFit!
Hallie says
March 4, 2009 at 7:29 amHungry Girl: how on earth did you pick your name? when is your next book coming out? will it have exercise in it?
MizMag: I don’t think you want me writing for you LOL but I will read!!

March 4, 2009 at 7:49 amHey, PB2 sounds so cool. The Thai recipe sounds intriguing!! And ScottieDog eats so much peanut butter, it might be good for him.
And thanks a million for introducing me to Hungry Girl. I just went over there already and found a great salad, and no doubt will find a lot more. Just in time for my fat bet!
Can’t wait to see the mag!

March 4, 2009 at 8:45 amLooking forward to the magazine. Do you have an info sheet/doc with ad rates?
(btw, I did it. Submitted my “story” to O. with fingers crossed.)
Melany says
March 4, 2009 at 8:45 amCongrats on your new venture. I think it sounds awesome. Perhaps if I commit to writing about my training for my first 1/2 marathon I’ll actually run it? I’ve been known to “train” for runs and then never actually do them. Sad, I know.
Nap Warden says
March 4, 2009 at 8:47 amI got nothin’ for ya, unless you need articles on running…good luck with it! Go you!!!

March 4, 2009 at 9:05 amExciting news regarding the magazine Mizfit! I hope to submit an article for this issue or the next. I’ll be thinking.
Your video is how I found PB2. Love it in recipes! So, thanks for that.
Ha- Ren Man makes me smile.

March 4, 2009 at 9:07 amHey Carla. I’ll admit, I’m a bit warmerthanlukewarmexcited about this magazine idea and I have a great concept for your yoga entries: a fat man’s experiences with yoga.
I start a real class today as I’ve mentioned in my blog a couple of times. I’ll start putting something together after that. My goal is to let people who aren’t at the peak of fitness, flexibility and health know that yoga is not just for svelte hotties like you (although it is a good way to become one). Wish me luck!
Also, I’d ask Hungry Girl one thing: What if I don’t like FiberOne cereal? What then?
Rock it out, sista. Have a good hump day!

Yay for Hungry Girl coming our way, love that lady. Maybe she could talk to us a little about her experience with Weight Watchers (she does post Point values on all her food reviews & Recipes, after all).

March 4, 2009 at 10:47 amOooh yay, I want to do an article.
I find HG to be overly focused on calories. Some of the products she reviews have no other nutritional value other than being low calorie (eg. all the 100 calorie packs of stuff). I don’t want to be judgmental because a lot of her recipes have tons of nutritional value, but maybe she should have more of a focus on health over just calories?
Must say I’m a fan of her website though.
Eve says
March 4, 2009 at 11:01 amHungry Girl: I’m so curious about how big she has grown. Does she have a whole gaggle of employees now? Or is she still doing most of the work?
Meg says
March 4, 2009 at 11:26 amI’m more than willing to write up a nice article for MizFit Mag! I’m thinkin something along the lines of talking about my running adventures or somethin’, although I’m sure you’re already swamped with submissions! Hmmm….Let me know if you want other topics, else I will submit something on running.
Vered - MomGrind says
March 4, 2009 at 12:12 pmOf course she’s hungry. Aren’t we all hungry but trying to make wise choices? 🙂
GOOD LUCK with the magazine. I’m excited for you!
Quix says
March 4, 2009 at 12:17 pmWoo, that sounds like fun! If things calm down long enough to whip up something, I’d love to submit. Maybe an editorial piece on how freaking life changing it is to go from being extremely obese to a pretty fit gal if that sounds like something you’d want, since that might be a fairly unique perspective I have. If it does go monthly and I miss this time, maybe next time. 😉
Alison says
March 4, 2009 at 12:35 pmAs per your post yesterday I wonder who is HG’s guru.
I also wonder whom she modeled her business on? If she has a work mentor?
MizFit says
March 4, 2009 at 12:38 pmRemember that story (methinks old wives tale but thats an entire post) about the PURDY GIRL whom no one asked to the prom because they thought everyone ELSE was gonna ask her?
so many of you have emailed me concerned that your writing isnt good enough or saying how you are certain Im slammed but maybe next month…
please to feel free to think of me as the purdypromgurl.

March 4, 2009 at 8:48 pmSo today I ran out of time in the morning and GASP did not read your post until now, past 8:30pm. Not getting my MizFit fix first thing in the morning totally threw off my day!
I’m putting my thinking cap on and will hopefully come up with something this weekend 🙂 Also if there’s any specific articles that you’d like, let me know, I’d be happy to oblige.
You know this already, but I must just say… HEART PB2!

As for the PB2, I somehow missed the video the first time around so I’m glad you posted it again. I’ve never tried it…but I hear it’s great. 🙂
I, too, would have to order. I think. I will have to check the health-food store when I go this week.
