Today’s simultaneously answered Twitter question is: Id love to know how much you & Kelly workout per day.

My word? Consistent.
What word would *you* choose to describe the amount of time you spend working out each day?
What are your feelings about this word? Is it in alignment with your healthy living goals…or not so much?
Please to hit us all up in the comments.
you two are so beautiful! And for the record, seeing those fabulous arms on both of you makes me want to go grab my dumb bells right now π
my word: long term
When I think about my life 25+ years from now I’d like to be like my dad who btw is a colon cancer survivor 15 years now. Dad exercises because it helps him be and stay strong. He does solo exercise like the gym or jogging but also social acitivities like golf and bowling.
I see exercise as an asset not a chore because it will help give me long term health benefits. I also exercise usually no more than an hour 4-5 times/week.
And amen on not over training! I see so many people get injured because they think more is better or they want to hurry up and see results. I learned that hard lesson after a knee injury from marathon training. Lack of patience can get you injured quickly.
I like the idea of spending time seeing where you would like to be in 10 years in reference to exercise.
Also, I like the idea of spending the time (if you have the luxury of spending 2 hours a day exercising) thinking about what your future holds and how you can create balance for your future (re: future endeavors, travel, children, career, etc.)
Great Posting today!
Happy Friday!
You said it MizFit – consistency is key. And thanks also for mentioning the importance of clean food and how that fits into it all. Food and exercise are really a partnership, and good consistent habits with both WITHOUT GOING TO EXCESS is the key to getting and staying fit. I’m a daily exerciser, but lots of those days are just low-impact activities like cycling and walking that I do more out of the joy than to “exercise.” For me, I need to fit in SOMETHING every day. Otherwise I feel like a slug.
Ooh, I like that Rupal and Stephanie have brought up the idea of thinking about your future. Imagining your future self. Imagining success. It’s a powerful exercise, and I know helps me maintain that consistency and move toward my future. Maybe we should all brain storm where we see ourselves in 10+ years…. =D
My word: discovery
Thanks for ANOTHER fabulous post. I have always been one of those more is better types, injuring myself, burning out, giving up. Today you helped me finally get rid of the notion that it was because I was ….(insert derogatory term here)..
THANK YOU π
awesome video Miz and Kelly!
My word would be FRANTIC.
No longer.
I’m heading to work but had to comment as this post & the fact you look so great and don’t work out all day long has really encouraged me.
Bettie
I don’t really have a word for that. I have a word for how I feel after I work out…strong! I love how working out makes me feel. I love to feel strong!
Loved the dual videos all week!! Please say this might be a regular thing ? Maybe once a week/fortnight ?!
Oh and thank you so much for introducing me to the lovely Kelly!
bit of a hectic morning (computer completely rebelling…on handheld) so I’m just peeking in from handheld to say hi.
BERNI? I saw your post and I’m proud of *you.*
Monica Rupal Steph? Dang you early mornin’ woman are spot on & insightful.
(Ok late night, steph & time difference monica & rupal but still…)
Life calls.
It looks like my comment didn’t work?
I love this week! Being able to listen to multiple opinions on the same question is just fabulous. I agree- consistency is so key! I work out for an hour, five to six (usually six) days a week right now. Since I teach group fitness classes, I don’t have a tremendous amount of flexibility (maybe this is a good thing ;)), so I do cardio for about four of those sessions and weights for two.
Based on a tip you gave a while ago (mizfit), I like to use my work pants as my guidance. Do my tummy and thighs feel comfortable when I sit as my desk or do my pants fit tight? I find that when I stay with my routine and eat well, my pants fit well and I have SO much more energy.
Kelly- you are fabulous! I can’t wait to read more of your stuff!
(Forgive me if this posts twice. You video was a moment of clarity for me.)
My word would be JUDGEMENTAL.
Not for me but until I watched you talk about setting yourself up on a routine for life I hadn’t realized that I’d judged you.
I always told myself you exercised all day to look as you did and that there was no hope for me and my 50+ pounds.
Judgemental is my word.
Kelly,
Can you give me the recipe for the zucchini bread you mentioned??
My word would be SPORADIC.
My goal words π would be WHEN I HAVE THE CHANCE I TAKE IT AND DON’T MAKE EXCUSES.
I’m not sure this is the right place to ask but are any of you going to the Blogher conference this summer?
Can you organize a meeting, Miz?
A workout???
Have a good weekend!
You bitches have the best arms ever. I have to get me some. LOL!
My word is daily. Sure, I go to the gym 4-5 days a week. But I want to get to the point where on those days I don’t go to the gym, I find different ways to get at least an hour of exercise in – be it biking, swimming, or playing with my daughter.
Love this!!
My word = health-promoting.
I do yoga daily and strength-train with my personal trainer 4-5 times per week. It’s helping me gain muscle mass and strengthen my body.
My one word: Sustainable
A few months ago, or even years ago, I wouldn’t even bother working out ONE day a week because I couldn’t do it every day. I’ve recently started 2 days a week, and will move up to 3 days a week soon, simply because it’s something I feel I can do for a very long time. No more of this all or nothing crap!
THIS IS AWESOME!! Miz we should TOTALLY do dual videos! But besides that I’m loving your answer and it makes me feel better and motivates me to drop my recently chocolate night time snack addiction.
I’m at the Y six mornings a week for a bit more than an hour, but I most definitely am NOT exercising all that time. When I’m in a hurry, I can do what needs to be done in about half an hour. The rest of the time is spent socializing! I’m not interested in competing, just general fitness, so I never do body part splits.
Just as important is the low-level activity I get the rest of the day. Mid-morning I walk to the store about a mile away to get my daily veggies. At lunch time I ride my bike to the school about 3 miles away for my job as lunch supervisor at an elementary school. Then I usually walk to meet my husband as he gets off work from the post office about half a mile away.
I don’t consider that stuff “exercise” but it definitely keeps the metabolism raised. I’m not quite sure what my maintenance calories are, but if I count and restrict myself to 2600, then the scale goes down half a pound a day. This is a huge thing for me, because five years ago I use to gain weight if I ate more than 1400 cals a day. I’m proof that you CAN raise your metabolism when you’re older. (50)
MizFit you’ve mentioned this before and it changed my life and workout routine.
I have lots of time to workout now (college student) and was spending hours a day exercising.
HOURS.
You mentioned in a post a while back that you searched for an found the amount of exercise you enjoyed and could do forever.
I do workout every day but for an hour.
In my opinion I can keep this up forever mostly because I enjoy it and it is no longer a punishment.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I completely agree with consistency!
We often think we need to go “all out” and work out for hours a day. But really, who can do that for the long-run except for actresses & people wealthy enough to not work long hours every day.
For the rest of us “normal” folks – just being consistent is the KEY! And it’s the same with healthy eating — exactly what I teach my clients.
There is no all out or nothing — balance. And part of that balance is being consistent.
Thanks MizFit & Kelly. Great week!
Kelly O? you there? Im giggling that Id asked so many peeps to do duel videos and nary a one was interested
(DIZCLAIMER: this was all before I met your amazing arse on twitter, Girlfriend. Im not cheating on you.)
UNTIL NOW.
You awesome π
the rest of you? LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE your chiming in.
There’s a tinnnnny chance for excitement on the Miz horizon and Im bringing you all along should I be able to manifest it.
Miz
I loved this post! In fact, I’ve loved the whole series!
My word is “productive”. I am still building fitness and my goal is to become an athlete. So I need to put the time in, but that’s ok… I’m learning so many new skills!
My word is HARDCORE.
I am not yet there but strive every day.
Miz I want your arms.
Is that sad because I’m a guy?
I am going to BlogHer and would love a meet up!
Thank you for this. It was something I needed to hear.
My word would be INTENSE.
I don’t have much time these days with my twins but when I do workout I make it count.
FUN WEEK, Miz!!!
MOTIVATED!
Thanks for a fun week and all the tips.
Thanks for reminding me that exercise is a part of my life and not my life.
You are so right. I need to do what I *can* do right now. And if it’s only 30 minutes of cardio? Then that’s what I’m going to do and not stress over it.
Fast thought for KIKI & beyond:
IMO 30 min a day is a GIFT to you.
A setting yourself up for longterm success as you can start now and ALWAYS find 30 minutes to exercise.
Life. Long.
TRYING to get BACK in alignment! Working on a min of three days a week at the gym. Gotta start somewhere, right? I used to be a 5 day, sometimes 6 day a week kinda girl. Right now, this season in my life, three is more realistic and much more attainable. I don’t beat myself up if I don’t make it a fourth time. I make my time there QUALITY time.
My word is FLEXIBLE.
Or, at least, I’m trying to make it that. I try to respond to my body and my family in fitting in working out. Some days I can’t run when I want to, so I do some exercise on demand. Or I work out late at night if my day has been too busy.
My word (and I wish it wasn’t) is depressed. I probably ought not to write this but I’m going to anyhow. It always frustrates me to see people like you two who look so utterly fantastic and do relatively little to achieve it. It just reminds me that for those of us with different genetics, we’ll be stuck working harder and longer without coming close to the results that you two get.
I know – I KNOW – that wasn’t the point of today’s videos. And I’m so glad that you guys have found a way to be moderate and healthy and still look & feel totally amazing. I also know there is no point in bemoaning the whole “it’s not fair” thing… esp. since it’s not productive anyhow. And, lastly, I realize this comment is probably born of the fact that I haven’t slept in 3 days and my ED voices are screaming right now. But there it is – I’m depressed…
Um, calling my therapist now. Egads.
OPTIMISTIC.
I’ve fallen off the wagon.
I’m optimistic I will find my way back on.
My word: Determined.
I have now been working out consistently for longer than I ever have in my life. Sadly, this dose not mean I’m in the best shape of my life, as I was climbing myself back up out of an unfit, flabby hole, but I do believe I am *healthier* than ever. (The last time I was in good shape I was in my teens and ate whatever I wanted, which was often Big Macs.)
Seeing you both as fit as you are, I am determined to keep myself going until I reach that place.
It took me a while but my word would be FAMILY.
My exercise now takes me away from the family (gym) and I want to try and involve them so we can get healthy together.
Great question, MizFit.
you are so right about consistency. For me, consistency takes (my word): discipline. (which i wear every day to remind myself).
great post, and love the shirt!
My word is EVOLVING
I started out small and gradually built up to hardcore because my interest was captivated. I’m trying to learn as much as I can about health and fitness. I am building a foundation right now that is based on looking to future flexibility while I have the time to educate myself and experiment, if that makes sense.
I know demands on my time will be constantly changing so I want to have a good enough background that I can adapt my fitness regimen to whatever comes my way. So far, so good!
I totally picture myself 10, 20, 30 years down the road. I want to always be active, at least walking at least 6 days a week and likely some yoga stretches in the AM and PM. Just a few minutes. Hopefully weight lifting too. It’s not that hard to fit in when you have a few dumb bells in your house.
Thanks for the fantastic week of info!
Longtime reader but first time commenter.
Why do I not want to believe that you don’t spend all day in the gym, Miz?
I don’t mean that I don’t believe you but for some reason I can not get into my brain that it won’t take me hours of exercise a day to get your arms.
I’ll be back with a word because right now that’s all in my head.
Hmm. Not sure what my word is. I hope it’s consistent. I hope what I do now is something I will be able to maintain through life changes (kids, jobs, moves, etc).
You know, when I spent HOURS daily in the gym (maybe 2+ of cardio?) I was much doughier and heavier than I am now. The ONE thing that transforms my body is lifting heavy weights, and it’s awesome b/c you really don’t have to spend that much time on it. Too bad I don’t enjoy all that heaving and grunting more. (Oh, I grunt, too, Kelly.) Now that I marathon train, my m.o. is to do as little as possible as I need to run a decent race and stay fit overall. So I really identified with what both of you recommend.
Maintainable! 30 minutes on most days seems maintainable, thanks for the real-life answer!
…anyone else have a sudden craving for a dozen Krispy Kremes?
Im really enjoying your words and your insights.
especially this:
that’s what life is all about!
Our words are the same LOL Consistency IS the key. Exercise now has become like brushing my teeth. It’s something I don’t even really think of. I just do.
Working toward: Consistent.
Living: time consuming.
Progressed from: Obsessive.
i’ll have to go with consistency as well.
i will consistently work out because….
it makes me strong
helps my mood
keeps me healthy
sets a good example for my kids
leaving for a 10 day driving/camping vacation down the oregon/california coast. planning to keep consistently working out while on vacation.
My word is also Mara’s word: SUSTAINABLE. I am focusing on doing enough exercise but not so much that I can’t maintain it forever. I’ve found that for me 45-60 minutes a day works best, with sometimes one rest day each week.
I have a somewhat unrelated question that was brought to mind by Kelly’s video. How do you know if you’re overtraining?
erin, some links for you re: overtraining:
http://carlabirnberg.com/2008/06/04/viewer-mail-18/
http://carlabirnberg.com/2008/05/07/viewer-mail-14/
(ahhh from back in the EARLY days of Miz)
does that help? let me know…
Loving these videos. Not loving how my computers aren’t working very well with the videos.
So much fun to learn about how much you both workout! My word is ENJOYMENT. I probably exercise too much, but I enjoy it and it works for me. Now, anyways.
I really like your long term thinking of it all. For me, I think I will be able to keep this up for a fairly long time because of what I want to do with my life but even if I can’t keep it up I’ll adapt and that’s okay!
My word is ENCOURAGED.
You have no idea how much you’ve encouraged me to keep on doing just what I’ve been doing. I’ve been through manic phases of my life where I exercised to eat or exercised to compete or whatever. For the last couple of years I have slowed down in non-competition times and have been doing exactly what you suggest. Because I am in mid-life, I often ask myself if what I’m doing is sustainable. Will I do it 10 years from now. The answer is yes! Why I’m encouraged is because I too, do “only” 30 minutes of cardio on my weight lifting days – and my weights take “only” 30-35 minutes. How cool that my theory about how I should go about this has been validated!
My word is also consistent, but it’s week by week not day by day. That is, I usually only work out 4 times a week, and it’s not exactly what I had planned to do that week, but I do the same amount of minutes, intensity, and have the same calorie burn that I planned.
I definitely feel good about the way I workout. Now if I could feel like it wasn’t so much making up for the way I eat sometimes…heh.
I love both of your arms … I have an arm obsession. LOL
I workout about …. let’s see, strength training probably takes about 30-40 minutes. After that, I’m now doing 20 mins of high impact aerobics. That’s 2x a week.
The day after I do a plilates or yoga type workout that takes about 50-60 mins depending on the dvd. This I do 2x a week.
I keep two days off during the week to get crap done and one day off on the weekend to spend with Husband. I’m usually active on the days off running errands or cleaning or if I’m not doing anything I sometimes do a workout.
I had upped the time the last few months to about 80-90 mins. It wasn’t really doing anything for me though. Recently, my life changed and I needed to scale that back. I am as committed as ever to my 4x a week. That will not change.
I’m sad to see the week end! It was great! I really enjoyed hearing from both of you this week, on questions I have had in my head too!!!
Have an awesome weekend!
I am curious Miz if you ever had a different word?
Were you ever obsessed?
You two have been great all week!!
Whether people like hearing it or not, humans were meant to be very active, and we are at our healthiest when we are!
I’ve liked playing the videos as a duet. Exercise for the brain as well as the eyes π
I was about to type “dedicated,” and then I saw #53’s comment and wondered if I should type “obsessed,” but I don’t think I would go quite that far…what’s a good word in between those two..hmmm…
Those links are really helpful, Miz, as always! Thanks! Far too many of the symptoms describe me, though. Hmmm….
Helen? THANK YOU.
My short version: No. I wasnt ever exercise obsessed although quite frankly that was probably due to a big laziness streak more than anything else.
In college when so many of my friends were completely exercise fanatics (& pre-truly becoming who I am now) I couldnt be bothered to expend the energy for more than an aerobics class a day.
want a long version? let me know.
(Jess? Obsessicated? Dedicessed?)
Erin? let me know if you want any thoughts…
My word? Hmmm. I guess it would be “sustainable.” This habit must last for the rest of my life. *sigh*…I sure as heck wish I’d gotten back to it earlier, too. You know, I could kick myself for believing that exercise had to be super hard, or obsessional, or that fit people were always rarin’ to go work out and never had to overcome the “I don’t wanna!” voice. And all that time, the secrets were to pick something active and do it regularly. D’oh!
I have a minimum daily requirement of working out at least 30 minutes, 5 days/week and being “actively restful” on my other 2 days (moving but not as intense or focused as “workout”; for example, playing with my kids or walking the dog). My personal minimum weekly requirement is at least 2 runs and at least 2 strength training days. I don’t always get my 30 minutes all at once, but if I can only do 10 or 15 in the morning, I go for a brisk walk at lunchtime.
SPORADIC.
I’m working to change that. What a fun week this has been. Thanks for doing it for us.
If I had to choose a word I would have to say
“MINE”
In todays world things are very hectic and busy for me (and many people) and my word is more about what the time is to me more than the amount of time. I use that time for Me, I think about my movement while I ride my bike and I think about how I couldn’t walk as far or as fast as I can now when I walk and try to improve my time on every walk. This is my time to concentrate on me and make sure that I am doing everything that I can do so that I can be around a little longer for the people that I think about for the rest of the time left in my days when I am not exercising. I make sure to get in 20-40 minutes 5-6 days per week, I usually do not work out 7 days per week, maybe when I am a bit lighter and need to do that much to keep the weight coming off but for now its doing the trick.
Another good topic Thanks!
As Ever
Me
I’ll take any thoughts you have whenver you have time. You can email if you’d prefer. π
I think we are gym twins. I feel the same way about the amount of time I can devote away from the kiddos on exercise. I have never put my kids in the gym daycare…I can’t do it.
I’ll search around your archives, but I’m curious on what your definition of “eating clean” is and what a typical day of your eats looks like.
Love you love you love you. Why aren’t you on my blog roll? OK, fixed that π
consistent. i love that. yes. i think that is very important! routine is important for me so that i can be consistent. but i think mine is mostly “example” i want to model a healthy lifestyle for my children!
I want your arms.

<strong.
This may be a regular occurence & I’ve missed it before, but I was so excited to read your name in Runners World’s April issue! On page 72. I was like, HEY! I know that superstar Austin-area fitness blogger! Very cool.
My word now is RIGOROUS.
When I was younger it was INTENSE or ALL-OUT or HARD-CORE (I have hyphenated these so as to not get called out on not being clear on the term “word” in the singular sense). But those workouts were often followed by PAIN and sometimes even PARALYSIS, so I dialed it down a bit. I’m a bit older now and happily married and I look good enough (not incredible, just, you know, good enough).
Now it’s about something different. It’s about being fit and healthy, not about showing off the abs. So, I bring a RIGOROUS approach to my four to five 40 minute-ish workouts every week, because exercise needs to be rigorous in order for it to be something other than just killing time. HARD-CORE for me today would be overtraining, and ALL-OUT in the spirit of my younger days would land me in a wheelchair.
Fitness is about being fit; about the physical efficiency with which you can conduct your life. It’s about being able to do 25 or 50 pushups, run a mile without needing oxygen, about being able to throw the ball around with your kid, about being able to hike the local hills without risk of death, about living a long and magnificent life. It’s not about the stuff they cover in People magazine.
Thanks for the post.
My word: Anticipation.
I started running in the new year and only recently started adding some weight training to my routine. And now that I’m slowly starting to notice changes to my body, I can’t wait to see how things will continue to transform. I’m excited about the treadmill, as I might run longer next time. Or about those bicep curls, because my arms have definition for the first time.
I treat my trips to the gym like dates. They’re thrice-weekly outings after work that make me feel like a strong, beautiful woman π
My current goals
5X cardio: 2 long runs ( at least 1 hr each) and 3 45 min sessions (have to drop those 10 lbs..why do they keep coming back to me.. no Miz, I am not good with “clean eating”).
2x weight training
3x yoga
Realistically what I do
3x-4x cardio
2x weight training (total body, home only.. no gym style)
2x yoga (30 min sessions)
I had an awesome awesome arc trainer session today.
I cannot say I acheive weight loss easily because I like to eat. But I am so grateful that I have fallen in love with exercising, specificaly cardio. I just feel blessed to be able to feel that feeling of goodness when I do cardio.
PS My word: grateful!
i think my word would be “empowering.”
my workouts can be a little inconsistent due to my changing schedule, but they do occur on a somewhat regular basis. which is good, because they help me feel a lot better and give me more energy, and also i feel like i have accomplished something in like half an hour.
I love this idea, Miz!
My word would definitely be HOPEFUL.
I have gotten away from exercising and am just starting back.
Thanks for all that you do!!
I’m not sure why, but I kept thinking about this post yesterday. What word would I use to describe my workout….I came up with enjoyable. Yeah I said it! This post got me to thinking about working out and how much more I do it when I enjoy it. If it’s something that I have to do for life, and I do, then why can’t I enjoy it? Or should I say, why can’t I make it enjoyable? I guess I can, but the next question is how? Being outside! I love being outdoors, when the weather permits. Cardio by hiking or riding my bike(which I don’t have yet, but it’s coming!) or swimming. It doesn’t have to be in a gym, it doesn’t have to be in a class, it can be outside and just for the enjoyment of it! π
I pondered this all day too!
The word I initally came up with shocked me as it was pretty negative.
I’ve done a lot of soul searching the past 24 hours thanks to this, MizFit.
In a difficult but needed way.
My words? TO LIVE.
I exercise to stick around.
Neat question.
very informative. thanks so much.
what is your typical diet mizfit? Kelly where do I get the protein zuchini bread recipe? I missed that earlier this week.
I, too, would love to hear more about your typical diet.
Loving these videos. I get to watch them all now since I missed them while on vacation. π Fun!
The word for my time working out: sporadic. Ugh. I need to be more regimented like you lovely ladies, but its just not happening. This really isn’t in line with my healthy living goals…. sporadic needs to become consistent!
Natalia? Bea? no bigger compliment than your comments above.
The fact the post stayed with you after you clicked away? *always* my goal.
Thanks for letting me know.
Hey Kids!! Here’s the Protein Zucchini Bread Recipe: 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup shredded Zucchini, 4 egg whites, 1 scoop protein powder (Vanilla), 1 tsp baking soda, 4 packets Splenda, Cinnamon (lots). Mix well, pour into a small bread pan sprayed w/Pam. Sprinkle 4 more splenda packets on top. Bake at 375 for 45-50 minutes. One serving.
MMMMMMM
Consistent: I like that as well. What I personally aim at is “consistent and long-term”: I just want to be physically active every day, if only through simple things like walking.
A colleague at work recently admitted that the only “exercise” she does on week days is basically to go out from her apartment to her car, then from car to our first-floor office–we don’t even have stairs in there–and then rinse and repeat at the end of the day. I think I’d just get mad if I couldn’t at least walk my 30-to-60 minutes and more. (Well, actually one of the first things I ask my doc the few times I get sick is “but can I at least go out and walk?”. This probably tells a lot.)
And those videos are indeed pretty interesting! I definitely need to catch up on the others.
My word would be regular.
I’m not yet where I want to be but I am doing my exercise regularly.
I would also love to hear more about the food component.
I can work out fanatically but if I’m not eating right I don’t lose weight still.
ooh, finally catching up! fun with “dueling” videos π hmm, i don’t know about consistency… i was actually think about enjoyment. i try to mix it up, not do too much, so i keep enjoying it. i do have goals in mind (tri), so picking those (at least most of the time) that will help get me there… i don’t have a set time each day, it’s about what i’m actually doing. however long or short it is, that’s ok!
Loved the videos this week, but had to watch all over the weekend since my work filters them ;(
Lots to think about.
Thank you for doing this Miz!
You really help me muddle through all this.
OK.
my food muzings. for what they’re worth (yadayadayada see dizclaimer). coming soon to a post near you π
Thanks Miz and Kelly for the dual videos! During the whole video Miz, I was only staring at your arms, thanks for the motivation and did I tell you that you are my fitness hero!
Thanks for the comment on my bog!
awesome post!! i agree about consistent being the word. when my body knows when to expect exercise, it starts to look forward to it, and it also knows that skipping a workout is just not one of the available options! when that whole “do i go or not go?” debate is removed, the potential for exercise enjoyment skyrockets π
My words are TOO MUCH.
If that’s all you work out MizFit and you look as you do I need to work out far less I think. I can’t do more and am willing to give anything a try.
Gah! I have to, have to, have to get back to weight training:P It has fallen by the wayside since my marathon. I still do cardio about 30min to an hour four days a week. If I get back to running, it will be 6 days a week….We’ll see…
Thanks for sharing. Mizfit, I love how you said to look down the road years from now, and is the amount of exercise you’re doing now something that you can maintain. Great advice! I used so spend hours and hours running or in the gym. I’ve cut way back, and I feel like I am in the best shape of my life now. Eating is a huge part of it. You’re so right!
YIKES..you’re not on my blogroll :O Fixing that π yay.
Great video Mizfit. I think some people workout way too much by going to the gym for 2 to 3 hours a day, which is really counterproductive. I’ve read that if you do long sessions of steady cardio, you tend to lose more muscle than fat.
Question for Kelly: Why do you not eat anything before you workout in the morning?
My word is varied. It really depends on the day and I try to change things up as often as possible.
I haven’t caught up with the other videos from last week yet but I imagine they are awesome. I wonder if you have thought about having these videos transcribed so we can read text in addition to video? Just a thought.
Kelly, I would also like to know more about why you don’t eat something before working out. I have heard that it’s very important but would love to know your reasoning. I also agree with you on the resting and not overdoing it. I have over done it before when it comes to working out and it’s absolutely not a good thing.
Thanks ladies for two great videos and insights.
I LOVE the idea of transcribing! and have explored it but for now its pretty cost prohibitive. Im open to ideas though, angie if you know of a free way?
there has to be *something* out there!
I’ve loved all the video posts from this week. Thanks so much, Miz and Kelly!
Angie,
I definitely eat before weight training. And actually this week I changed my workout schedule so that my weight training and cardio are done together. Some trainers or experts feel that “fasted cardio” will burn the most fat. It’s more of “nice concept” and by no means a necessity. Eating prior to weight training is most definitely a need, as your body needs that FUEL for the intense training. So now, I eat a meal around 11am, then head to the gym around 11:30, so I’m working out at 12pm. Properly fueled!
