(because to know me is to be aware of my fondness for all things As Seen On TV!)
Yes, People.
Im finally a wee bit on the mend and, as a result, am ready to slowly carefully ease back git right to it!
Im cutting way, way, WAY back on reviews (that’s a rant for a different day), but I couldnt pass up the opportunity to check these DVDs out.
I’m one of the few I know who’s never SEEN P90X –let alone done them to extreme exhaustion.
And, quite frankly, I’ll admit to being a tad P90-curious.
A tad curious—-but not 150.00 dollars curious.
As a result, when the opportunity to test the Supreme 90 Day workout arose I immediately said YES.**
Not only did it seem like what *I* needed to shake things up a bit, the 10 DVD set complete with nutrition plan & online support appeared to my misfit eyes to be a new! improved! AFFORDABLE! P90ISH option.
But Im getting ahead of myself.
The Supreme 90 Day workout comes with 10 dvds (chest & back, swiss ball workout, tabata, shoulders & arms, cardio, legs, total body, core, back & bis, & chest shoulders & tris), a nutrition plan from a woman we all adore Tosca Reno, free online support, & a 90 day support chart (pictured below in its place of honor on my fridge).
Now that Ive given you the deets—-let me break it on down to my likes and dislikes.
As opinionated-usual I have a few of each.
What I liked about the Supreme 90 Day workout in no particular order:
- It comes with a food plan. Not only does it come with a food plan but one from Tosca Reno to boot (I love me some Tosca). The plan is easy to follow, suggests consumption of whole, clean foods, & will definitely increase the odds of getting lean success. I already have a mindful-eating plan (read: I didnt use theirs), but as a woman who firmly believes 80% of weight-loss success is created in the kitchen I loved the inclusion of this information.
- The dvds are comprehensive. With five DVDs of muscle-building strength routines, three DVDs of fat burning cardio, and two DVDs for core & abs there arent any gaping muscle/core/cardio holes in the set.
- Supreme 90 Day workout is AFFORDABLE! With a price-tag of 19.99 this goes without saying—but Im saying. Yes I like they didnt sacrifice quality for price, but the DVDs could have been merely mediocre at this price and Id still have celebrated. It also made me *smile* part of their marketing pitch is the notion you can afford to buy the Supreme 90 Day DVDs and still have money left over for new clothes after you lose weight.
- Challenging with out being defeating. Im only in the first week of the program but given all Id heard about P90X I feared these DVDS would kick my
assbooty into quitting. The DVDs are challenging (& Ive needed to stop and take breaks) but not so difficult I quit.
- I love the visual of the success chart. Sure most of this love is probably triggered by the fact we are all kinds of charted up here as of late (hello! reward system for the five year old) —but whatever the reason I surprisingly enjoyed it.
- I like the promise of the online support. Ive not used this option—but I like that it’s offered. Perhaps you winner-type could explore it and let us all know?
What did I NOT like?
- The need for a Swiss ball and weights. Yes I sung the praises of the affordability. That singing, however, was lessened in volume when I realized I needed a Swiss ball and weights. (I owned neither. Collage Video was generous enough to send me a ball and I purchased weights.) This was a negative for me as I’ve always used resistance bands at home and never really wanted to own dumbbells. Additional cost. Additional clutter.
- No yoga. Not only have I heard about the hardcore HARD AS HECK yoga dvd in P90X– Ive been working to add more yoga into my life as well. Personally I would have happily accepted one less strength training DVD in exchange for a yoga DVD.
Now it’s your turn.
Any of you interested in joining me in this quest as long as it lasts for the next a little less than 90 days?
After reading my ramblings above why do YOU think you’d like the Supreme 90 Day workout?
From Tabata-trying to successchart-seeking please to hit me up in the comments below.

April 11, 2011 at 2:33 amI am right there with you! P90X intrigues me and my addictive personality to no end but I’m too cheap to spend 150 on it. It scares me too… This plans sounds more my speed. Visuals for results and structure with diversity? Yes please! I would love to try it out!

April 11, 2011 at 2:35 amI love the idea of having an at home program for those days where I don’t want to do my own boot camp style workout at home and I don’t feel like going to the gym! I think this would be perfect for me post baby!

April 11, 2011 at 2:45 amI’ve always been P90-curious myself but the price always got me. I have also never ever tried a following a specific workout program or diet… I think this would be an awesome change of pace for me and would love the opportunity to give it a shot!

April 11, 2011 at 3:21 amWOW. A $19.99 price tag? that is actually an amazing price.
I do have the P90x plan from BeachBody and I really liked it but it is a hefty price tag-
I LOVE tabata based workouts AND Tosca so this sounds great!!

April 11, 2011 at 3:36 amI just started exercising in Jan and I have lost 27lbs so far. I would love to have an optoin to try at home around my schedule-not the gym’s hours or the class schedule there. This would allow me to work out at my own pace and not feel intimidated.
And if I don’t win this contest, I can go and buy it for myself because that price is amazing! I have a ball and resistance bands at home.
Thank you

April 11, 2011 at 3:45 amI saw this at the local Walgreens on an end display. That’s a lot of workout for a little price. As far as exercise equipment, the local Ross store here always carries stuff like that for pennies on the dollar.

April 11, 2011 at 3:52 amI love Tosca Reno too! She is smart and balanced! I love the price tag on this and I do have weights already however, not the swiss ball:(. I want this badly but alas, Australia is STILL not USA. I really hate all these USA only prizes! I know it’s not your fault but bah.
We’re on only one salary at the moment and budgets are tightighttight so I’ve foregone a gym membership in place of pilates classes to keep my hip from aching like heck so this sounds perfect at US$20 because it’s a proper plan and I could do it.
I’m going to go order a copy now and hopefully the shipping won’t be insane!

April 11, 2011 at 4:45 amBeing a mother, full time student, and unpaid intern – time and money are two difficult aspects for me. I’d love to have a more effective at home work-out system to really help get me through the days where I can’t make it to the gym (more often than I’d like).
I’ve always wanted to try P90X but heaven knows, I definitely can’t afford it. I would love to try this program out!!

i like that the nutrition is by tosca, she knows her stuff and i know it will be enough calories and the right kind of fuel. i normall just toss out the nutritional stuff with the dvd’s because it is usually pretty rediculous.

April 11, 2011 at 6:30 am10 DVDs for 20 bucks? With packaging and all that other jazz, do they make a dollar? Seriously, if we all buy them today and the DVDs arrive blank by some chance, at least we’d still end up with an affordable set of coasters right? I’ve been looking for something that doesn’t require much heavy lifting (for an undisclosed reason 🙂 that’s more body/resistance training oriented. How much are weights involved? In all the DVDs or just some of them?

April 11, 2011 at 6:35 amI’m not looking to enter – I have a system that’s working for me right now and I never seem to be happy doing DVDs at home – but wanted to say wow on the price! I’ve always wished I could do P90X, but couldn’t justify the price since I know I wouldn’t really do the whole system what with the dislike-of-DVD-workouts and all.
But the real reason I’m interested in P90X was the kicka$$ power yoga. I hear the Biggest Looser guy (sorry, I’m bad with names) has a yoga video that can be hardcore, but I’ve not used it myself.
Oh and it’s so good to see that you’re on the mend! And that you get to use a chart! Make sure you have enough shiny star stickers to mark off the entire program.

April 11, 2011 at 6:37 amSounds interesting, and I like the fact that YOU like the workouts…you being all into fitness and such. 😉
Great price – even with buying the dumbbells (which I do own!) and the swiss (ha! typed “swill” at first – hmmm, new invention? workout AND imbibe?) ball it’s still way more affordable than its $150 cousin. I’d love to try it.

but if i dont win i guess we could pool our money and buy it.

April 11, 2011 at 9:33 amI might pick this up if I’m finding I can’t get to the gym enough this summer. But, like you, I really didn’t want to have weights at home – that is one of the reasons I belong to the gym! But for that price, I might be willing to try it!
Brianne says
April 11, 2011 at 10:11 amOoh! This looks like a heck of a deal!
I could really use a system like this to help me beat my postpartum body into line. I’ve always preferred gym workouts over at-home stuff and have tried to keep myself structured to budget gym time into my schedule while balancing veterinary school and life.
Since my daughter was born in October, though, I’ve learned how much priorities can shift! I have a hard enough time being away from her for classes/work, but suddenly the thought of packing up and driving to the gym, spending a minimum of 30-45 minutes working out, and then driving back seems like an awful waste of time!
But without the gym, my post-C-section belly could use a good structured workout – working out at home while she’s napping or having “Daddy time” is definitely something I need to start doing! I think this system is right up my alley (and a great way to use the swiss ball I bought for labor!)
Valerie says
April 11, 2011 at 10:19 amCount me in – I don’t love working out at home, but for that price would give it a try.

April 11, 2011 at 1:26 pmI’d like to try this b/c we own the P90X and I’d like to change it up. Variety is the spice of life and is also what keeps me at my workouts. April 11, 2011 at 3:06 pmI’m definitely intrigued and want to check this out!
And as an aside, I’ve done P90X. Granted, not all 90 days, but I’ve tried the workouts. They are tough, but they are not fall-out-and-die tough like some people have said. Maybe it’s because I like lifting weights and have spent a lot of time in the weight room, despite being morbidly obese, that they weren’t impossibly hard for me. Still hard and still great, mind you, but not as horrifying as some people had led me to believe. (Although I’ll admit the P90X yoga did kick my tail.)

April 12, 2011 at 11:03 amAny program with the words “Supreme” and “Get ripped” on the cover piques my interest. I love that price tag, too! Price has always been the the prohibitive factor for me in P90X

April 12, 2011 at 11:21 amI’d like to try it because I’m looking for more variety in my workout that will emphasize strength training. And I really like the idea of online support and a food plan!

April 12, 2011 at 2:37 pmI’ve wanted to try it but the 150 bucks has kept me off of it…I’m Canadian so I’m out of luck for this, but it’s got me curious again.

April 13, 2011 at 10:17 amI’ve been ogling this workout on their website for some time now. I tried P90X a few times, but kept hurting myself and eventually had to sell it on Amazon. I wonder if I’d do better with this one. I’ve heard only good things about it, and you can’t beat the price (especially if it’s free, lol!).

April 13, 2011 at 10:27 amTotally interested – I’ve considered p90x but can’t really see doing it for 90 days. Will be honest – I don’t think I could work out at home for 90 days straight (I’d wanna get outside or to the gym). And, would probably be next winter before I could even try with races. However, the 20 dollar price tag means that I could give it a try without feeling guilty if I just used it in between other workouts.
So you should probably pick someone else who is chomping at the bit to use it NOW. 🙂

April 13, 2011 at 5:32 pmOh, yeah, I NEED this one! Why you ask? To keep up the variety in my strength training program! That’s right! I’m trying to keep my variety up to keep my muscles guessing! I don’t want to do the same strength rotation more than once a year and I almost have enough!
Just . . .one . . .more . . .

April 13, 2011 at 10:19 pmI’d love to try the DVDs because a) I do have a Swiss ball and weights and b) I really love your description of challenging, but not defeating. That’s exactly what I need, since my old body is so banged up. An eating plan by Tosca Reno is a definite bonus, I pretty much eat mostly whole healthy foods now, so it would fit right in.
I’ve looked at P90X, but too much of that would be too tough for me to do. Besides, can’t afford it.

April 14, 2011 at 12:55 pmI need something new, something to change things up….so I could definitely use a copy!
If you don’t pick me (or rather, the RNG doesn’t pick me) – where could one find such a fabulous video?

April 14, 2011 at 5:22 pmI just love Cathe sts 3 month rotation. I look forward to another 3 month workout, this way I don’t have to think of what rotation I’ll be doing next month. I’m now on day 7 and I love it because my body response to using heavy weights.
My only negative comment is the core work, which is in each workout (so far) and there is no yoga or stretching dvd.
I plan to buy Bob Harper Yoga and work it into my rotation.

April 15, 2011 at 7:36 pmI have befriended some beachbody coaches, well one of them asked me what program I am using, and has been trying to get me to join. Frankly I don’t have that kind of cash. Here were her words to me when she hadn’t even given the program a chance or try :”when u become a coach u can buy p90x! It’s cheaper as a coach lol! I don’t buy those Walmart DVDs anymore not only cuz I’m a Beachbody coach, but because for long term weight loss it’s never helped me!! Y waste money on those when u can save your money up to buy one of r programs that work wonders I’ve done biggest loser workouts n wii program, the your shape on wii, Jillian Michaels DVDs, they were ok, but turbo jam, shakeology, hip hop abs, clx, n now insanity:the asylum really works lol! I tried p90x, but it wasn’t my thing! Hate pullups” …..
Hmmm, why waste $130 more [that i don’t have] on a similar product that I am not sure I am going to be able to commit to?
I think it is a great program.. almost any program will work if YOU WORK. ya know? and again, at that price, you can’t beat it. Yes it was a bummer to have to buy other things, but then again, you buy p90x, you still have to get weights, pullup bar, (ball? bands?) so you end up paying more than 150.00. So total, right off the bat, for this 20.00 for the set. 12.00 for stability ball [dunhams] plus ~1.00/lb.{$15-$20 for hand weights for women beginners} Not bad.

April 16, 2011 at 10:24 pmWell I like the idea of it in general but what really got me was the variety of workout you can do and the diet plan that comes with it.

April 20, 2011 at 6:31 pmI’m not trying to enter a contest or anything. Just popping in to say that I have the Supreme 90 day, I’m on week 3, and I LOVE it! The warmup and cooldown for each session is almost identical, and the workout itself is about 30 minutes. It’s as intense as you make it.
I started off skipping or modifying some of the harder exercises (like burpees) and have recently worked my way up to non-modified push-ups (I just can’t do very many). I don’t look any different yet, but I feel stronger and I’m more courageous about the exercises I try.
Even if you only do it once through, you can’t get 10 different workouts for $20 anywhere else, so it’s definitely worth it!

April 21, 2011 at 5:03 pmI bought my DVD set from HSN and got it in 5 days, it also included the calendar, food plan and the extra ab DVD. I’ve been doing it for 14 days and feel lots better than I have in a long time due to having a sedentary life style. My wife has been a big help in staying on the meal plan due to her skills in the kitchen. Not that the plan is bad but I’m a very picky eater and set in my ways. Not to mention that some of the meals are hard to do when on the job so she uses the flexibility of the plan by moving items around. I lost 4 pounds on the first week and have not weighed my self this week, that will be tomorrow morning first thing. I only weigh my self once a week due to only needing to lose 20 pounds, I’m more concerned about toning up. I do think the length of the videos is just about right for people that don’t have lots of time to work out. Due to my age I like the warm up and cool down periods to help prevent injury plus I’ve heard it helps promote muscle growth. I’ve not seen all the videos yet but look forward to seeing how they differ. Like Tommy stated Tebato killed me but it was a good burn and worn out feeling, can’t wait to do it again so I can rest or stop less. I would recommend this work out program because it is easy to follow along with and so far nothing that I can’t do (even though maybe not on the first try). I believe losing weight starts by finding something you like doing and sticking with it, I think I’ve found the one for me.
Hope it works for you God bless.
