AHHH BRINNER.
We heart ye around here.
In fact, you’re far more likely to catch us eating THIS for breakfast (hmmm. dinbreak? not so catchy huh?) and more traditional breakfast foods for dinner.
(and yes. Ive already started wondering if this will all change when the Tornado begins inviting friends for dinner & sleepovers. To my chagrin I think the answer is yes.)
Im not sure how this eating habit started, I just know that the Tornado & I prefer more hearty stuffs to launch our day & less so when we’re wrapping up our shenanigans evenings.
This Tex-Mex Bagel Bake was merely a sorta popular one—until I tweaked & changed and added (gluten free bread!) to fit our Misfit Family.
As Ive shared and disclaimed before (FTC alert! FTC alert!) Ready Set Eat hired me to be a recipe reviewer for them and Ive adored my stint doing so.
They not only said it was OK to change the recipes to fit our wacky threesome—they encouraged, should I do so, I take the time to share my thoughts.
As my shared tastes panel time draws to a close I love the fact I know my shared cooking time with the Tornado is just beginning.
Brinner.
Dinnbreak.
Whatever we’re gonna call it—-I look forward to our kitchen adventures together.

May 18, 2011 at 5:31 amYum! Brinner is my favorite dinner of the week! Whether it be savory (baked egg dishes) or sweet (pancakesssssss), it always makes me excited 🙂

May 18, 2011 at 6:15 amI’m all about not having to eat traditional breakfast foods for breakfast or dinner foods for dinner:) I think the former came when I started trying to eat less carbs and more protein and did not want eggs. Nothing wrong with soup or leftovers for breakfast, IMO.

May 18, 2011 at 6:47 amI think it is great to cook with the kids & share that experience & they learn from it. Like you, I eat whatever suits my fancy at any time of the day. Who cares what the rules are – they are made to be broken! 😉

May 18, 2011 at 12:28 pmMy kids would eat breakfast for every meal of the day if they could – def. their fave type of food! They tend to favor the sweet over the savory – I like the look of that Tex Mex bagel but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t eat it. But hey, I’m the only one counts right??

May 18, 2011 at 1:06 pmWhen I was a kid, I wanted breakfast for dinner every night. I loved pancakes and waffels and even cold cereal. Now I prefer savory stuff and that Tex Mex bagel sounds great.

Too bad I can’t find my alley.

May 18, 2011 at 6:34 pmGrowing up (a zillion years ago), my friends LOVED sleeping over at my house because of the non-traditional, healthy “breakfast” offering. It was my mom’s creative cure for my digestive woes.

May 19, 2011 at 8:48 amI love this idea, I must admit I’ve been in a rut for years in eating traditional breakfast ideas for my breakfast and I’m getting pretty bored. I will definitely try something new. I realize that in keeping fit it is so important to keep changing things up to stay on track and not get bored.
Great blog!
