Once upon a misfit time Zensah reached out to me and offered a sneak peek.
A look behind the scenes at a PROTOTYPE (!) tank-top to see what I thought before it was shared en masse.
I felt important.
I felt special.
I so slow a blogger the proto-type racerback tank hath now gone to production.
#youllhavethat
Please to enjoy my no-longer-prototype-but-you-can-buy-it-now! musings regardless…
As soon as I received the Zensah tanktop I ripped it from the package and immediately put it on.
I adored the color.
I adored the Z’s subtly woven into the front of the fabric.
I was sad there wasn’t a built-in bra. This sadness is 100% a result of my being lazy. It’s a victory in my life when I locate a clean tanktop let alone a top *and* a sports bra. (We shall revisit this laziness later in the post.)
After receiving an exuberant THUMBS UP! from the Tornado on the lovely pink color I donned the top and was on my way.
I lifted:
I looked like a goober cardio’d:
I got my resistance training on-the-go on:
I got my coffee on poured some ice water in a coffee cup just for the fun of it:
I convinced Ren Man bring me to see The Hangover while I wore it:
What did I like about the Zensah racerback tank?
- The color. I’m typically not a pink woman—I adored this pink.
- The fabric. Zensah makes fantastic compression clothing. I was excited to try the seamless tank, but feared it would be compression-TIGHT. It is not. By way of reference my tank top is a small.
- The breatheability. Another reason I love built in bras is the tops tend to feel cooler. I was surprised, even with my raceback sports bra underneath, the tank top was NOT too hot at all. And I’m a sweater. A.Big.Sweater.
- I adored the fit. Im cognizant of the fact Im a misfit, but I loved the tank top in the gym & liked it just as much at the movie theater. ‘Nuff said.
- The complements. From the gym to the concession stand. Complement-city.
What did I not like about the Zensah racerback tanktop:
- That I didn’t get the purple, too. Im stumped on this one, People. I mentioned my disappointment in no built in bra. Yet, after wearing the tank a few times, I found I really didnt mind
having to do laundry. Typically here is also where I’d lament the price (43.00), but the fact I’m ready to purchase the purple is an indicator this tanktop is worth every penny.
What am I most excited about?
- Zensah was willing to giveaway a no-longer-prototype racerback tank to one lucky USA reader.
You can be entered to win for the low low price of a comment below.
You saw what I did in my Zensah.
Were you to win what would YOU do in YOURS?
Winner announced 6.20.11

Do you think the tank would chafe or is it really seamless and smooth?
I like the color (and the purple LOL!)

June 13, 2011 at 5:36 amI love Zensah gear (I have compression sleeves from them) and want this one too! LOL I would definitely be doing some training for my upcoming races in it, such as running and biking. Some play time outside with my littleone would also be done, and maybe (just maybe) some time with my husband. Good shirts and tops are always multi-purpose in my household!

June 13, 2011 at 6:15 amI want to challenge everyone to a pushup contest in this tank top. Then they can watch my muscles as I kick their butts!
Shelley B says
June 13, 2011 at 6:15 amThat is a cute top and you look great in it! Don’t enter me – the slight compression and the racerback just don’t work for me. But yes, you definitely NEED the purple one as well! 🙂

June 13, 2011 at 6:35 amWell if I won the purple one I would wear it to the first few football games (before it got toooo cold). My boys both play football and their colors are purple and gold!!! I would also wear it to take my runs in. I run outside and sometimes I feel people don’t really want to see me running in my men’s under shirts! Have a super day!
Runbondie26 says
June 13, 2011 at 6:39 amI’d wear it to death. I don’t buy much running clothing. When I find a piece I like, I’ll wear it until it’s literally threadbare.

June 13, 2011 at 6:46 amLove your review! I gotta say that I always end up cutting the built-in bras OUT of my tops! I find they don’t give enough, ahem, support to my nursed-4-babes boobs and since I have to wear my own bra (just to keep the girls facing the same direction, see) then why bother with so many layers? In an ideal world I suppose I could just workout in a bra but my stomach birthed all those kids I nursed so… yeah,no. All of which is to say I LOVE that they didn’t put a bra in this tank! I also love how high the armpit holes come up. And the pink is super cute on you!
Karen@WaistingTime says
June 13, 2011 at 6:48 amI cracked up because I sooo won’t buy an exercise tank if it does not have a built in bra:) So no need to enter me.

June 13, 2011 at 7:27 amLove that top and especially the color! I would wear it to run in as I don’t really need a bra. Or I’d wear it to ride my bike in when it’s really hot.
Kris @Krazy_Kris says
June 13, 2011 at 7:31 amLove the color! Love the long cut! I would also wear mine to starbucks where I would fill my mug with water -hehehe – NOT! I will never like water more than coffee (sigh)

June 13, 2011 at 7:33 amSince I see that they stop at L in the tank (boo!), I’d give it to my beautiful 19 year old college student daughter who would wear it while training for the Davis Stampede http://www.changeofpace.com/davis_stampede.html

I would clean my house then go to bootcamp 🙂
Casey (The Hippie Health Nut) says
June 13, 2011 at 9:31 amWho doesn’t need a good tank top?! I can’t workout with sleeves; they make me feel restricted. I’d lift and yoga in this tank, and of course, head to the grocery store for some awesome workout recovery grub. 😉
Karla says
June 13, 2011 at 9:45 amI would HOOP in mine.
I love the color and my hoop is pink, too.
addy says
June 13, 2011 at 9:59 amThe thing with the built-in bras is they are really hard to take off when I SWEAT and I do SWEAT. I could do some serious cardio in this top and not worry about the SWEAT thing. Cool color.

June 13, 2011 at 12:02 pmIt looks and sounds beautiful! Though I won’t want a pink one (nothing personal, I rarely wear pink)
I would wear it on many training runs and then for a half marathon this fall.
Plus I need to win it … because for a few reasons, I’m going a full year (from my birthday in October 2010 to 2011) without buying new clothes and I’m getting sick of the shirts I have 🙂

angela says
June 14, 2011 at 6:40 amI’d wear it to run walk yoga and relax.
I adore that there’s no bra because I need a lot more support than a built in bra can give. I have to layer another sports bra under tops with built ins. Not much fun.
Debbie says
June 14, 2011 at 6:42 amWhat a cute tank! I would wear it while trying desperately to keep up with my girlie in her cross-country camp. The one I signed up to participate WITH her, only for her to leave me gasping for air while choking on her dust. That’s where I would wear it.

June 14, 2011 at 8:10 amI would wear my tank to BOOT CAMP that I’m starting in July. Until then, I would sport it on bike rides with my son and most definately in the gym so my gym girlfriends could see it and then purchase one themselves! And since occasionally I run to the gym after classes, I would sport it to school as well. Pink is absolutely my favorite color. My nickname is “Pinky!” My father gave me this nickname when I was just a baby!!

Cate says
June 15, 2011 at 11:05 amLike some other commenters, I prefer wearing my own bra to the ones that the companies build in, so no problem there. I, too, would prefer purple, and if I won the top, I would definitely wear it on my yoga mat.

June 17, 2011 at 7:14 amI actually just tried a workout in a tank top last week. I’ve always been a short sleeve girl. But you know what? I kind of liked it, so I’ll go ahead and throw my name in the hat.
I would try this on rides and runs.
But I ain’t getting no stinking pink.
Tiffany says
June 17, 2011 at 5:22 pmI’d do my Turbo Fire workouts in it so I could at least pretend I look cute while working out!
Bethlin says
June 19, 2011 at 8:15 pmOhhh, I’d love to give this a try, in either blue or purple. See, after I go out for a long hot row on the lake, my crew likes to head over to the nearby bar-with-outdoor-seating for a refreshing re/de-hydration session and I need something that is cool and awesome on the water, but pretty enough for the laid-back-casual-cool bar when we’re off the water. This looks like a good idea for me!
