(no. this picture was not posed. yes. it does frighten me a little.)
After our email exchange Zensah was generous enough to offer to send me a pair of the compression sleeves to review*
After my experience wearing them I decided I must spread the love and PURCHASE a pair for one of you.
But Im getting ahead of myself.
My Sleeve’periences: bulleted for your reading pleasure.
What did I like about the Zensah compression sleeves?
- The color. How they looked. We’ve established
ad nauseamI have a penchant for the quirky. We’ve also established the Tornado has a penchant for the pink. She picked the color. I happily donned.
- The fact they were sleeves not socks. I may not be running in the sleeves now, but I like the option to use my own running socks with them later. I’m a chafer.
- They held me. I really liked the feeling of the sleeves. I discovered Kinesio tape during Airrosti & it was almost the same sensation. As I wore them around (all day. post run.) it felt as though I were getting a secret massage while I ambled about town & worked.
- I wasnt sore. Thanks to the sleeves? Placebo effect? Wouldn’t have happened anyone? Who can say. The upside is walking around ‘held’ all day didnt produce and weird
assaches & pains which these days would not have surprised me.
- They didnt get sweaty! The website states the sleeves are made with Zensah Fabric which has silver helping to regulate skin temperature and fight bacteria. It’s hothothot in Texas right now & these still breathed quite well.
- I felt hardcore. Oh People I realize this is mildly…pathetic? misfit’y? of me to even include—but include I shall. I adored walking around with the sleeves hidden under my clothing as if I were some sort of a sleeve’y super-heroine. I felt hardcore. I felt badass. I felt like a runner.
What DIDNT I like about the Zensah compression sleeves?
- Nothing. I could say the price, yet at 40.00 they seem almost a bargain. I came up empty in this category which lead me to decide…
I adored the sleeves so much I want to pay it forward and buy a pair for one of you.
You USA & Canada-types can be entered to win for the lowlow cost of a comment below.
How would you use your compression sleeves if you won? During your run? Only for recovery? Whilst ambling about town?
(winner announced 9.6.11)
**FTC my sleeves were free. The rambles rants and posing as a hardcore runner-stuff is all my own.
I would wear the for my runs and recovery!!! I really want a pair for my first marathon! 🙂
I think I would try them both for running and recovery and see what helped the most:)
I would use the compression sleeves for my return to running post baby. I have a problem with calf pulls all the time and started using kinesiotape before baby. While pregnant, I had the awesome restless leg syndrome and only calf stretches and raises would help a bit. I’m hoping that lifting the extra weight while preggers will help now 3 months post baby. I’d love to test them out and would definitely write a review too!
YOU ROCK LADY!!!!
I’d love to try a pair for after biking.
First off you are so generous.
Next I want a pair of MizFit Tattooed sleeves 🙂
I will wait.
Have a fantastic weekend!
I have been researching the Zensah products just this week and the compression sleeves in particular! I would DEFINITELY wear them for recovery after my first half-marathon! I’m wondering now whether I should be wearing them now during my runs. Having a little problem with the foot and we’re not sure what it is. So I would definitely be willing to try them during my runs as well.
I was looking for leg warmers. These would be better times infinity!
Since now I am an Athlete and stuff.
Awesome review Miz.
I love how you approach this like and every woman not hardcore 🙂 exerciser because that is who I am.
Please enter me 🙂 but I hope you are joking about the give away being from you?!
Well I could wear them while running and recovery but if I wore them as an accessory I could look cool ( almost as cool as MizFit but never quite there) and break out into a run at any moment. That could be rather FUN!!! I like fun 🙂
T.G.I.F.
P.S. Tornado is rockin’ the personal trainer look…luuve it!
I would definitely wear them for work. Nothing like standing on a concrete floor 9 hours a day to make one’s legs look like a road map. My veins could use some nice gentle compression without the torment of pantyhose 🙂
I will wait for the tattoo sleeves and use my black until then 🙂
I wanted to say how CUTE your daughter is and how awesome you are for paying for us to try these.
No need to enter me.
I would love the hot pink too.
And that hilarious Girl of yours.
Do you need a babysitter? We can both wear our Zensah!!
I would rock these nifty sleeves during and post run. They sound intriguing.
I’ve been dying to try a pair of these but I wasn’t sure they were worth the price! I would use them for recovery mostly… maybe during running in the cooler temps, but not when it’s warmer… I’m really weird about my arms/legs getting too hot when I workout. 🙂
I like that they did not grow wet and sticky!
I wonder if the socks are the same way?
The tights?
Oh and are you joking? Are these from you or the brand?
I was a decent 5k runner but fell down a flight of stairs and am just gently easing back into running. I bike almost everyday. Would love to try these out to ease away the 47 yo tired leg syndrome 😉
I’m ready to try them! I think I’d try them during the run just to feel badass!
I would love to try this Miz.
I have a pair of Zensah socks 😉 and want some sleeves!!
Those DO look hardcore on your awesome leg Mizzy.
Is that you in a dress?!
YUM – these sound awesome… honestly, if I won them, I’d probably give them to one of my dearest friends who is training for her first 5K… she’s running in honor of her mom who died when she was 40 from Breast Cancer.
Then, I’d buy myself a pair… and I’d probably wear them post Crossfit – adore the idea of being secretly massaged after those kick-butt workouts… OY.
I would use them during recovery and running!
Wait. Is the Tornado in your sports bra?
Priceless.
yes. yes it is.
Oh! I’ve been wanting to try these. I have my first marathon on Sunday and will be continuing my training after that. I’m completely hooked. I’m living in Seoul, South Korea now and I don’t think people here are used to seeing Americans run the streets. I would definitely where these all the time just to see them give me funny looks and laugh at me 🙂 I find it amusing!
I’ve coveted these too!
Half mary coming soon and I’d love the blue!
You rock the generousity Miz.
Running and recovery. These look awesome!
I would love to win a pair. I would wear the for my runs and recovery, but I trust your advice so much that when you 1st debut them I ordered a pair, & waiting to recieve them. Thank you for all that you do…
I’d use mine for running and recovery- but I won’t say that would stop me from wearing them out and about town though 😉
I’ve become a compresisonsleeve addict. I’d wear them for running, recovery, and even ro work (under pants of couse).
I would totally wear these. Probably both during and after my runs. I do worry if they would fit me. I’m still nowhere near goal weight and have big calves.
I could see wearing them for recovery. Have a very good friend that does those marathon and half marathon things. Maybe I send them to her to try for me…
I’d probably end up wearing them as a fashion statement… or use them as a reason to actually start walking/runningmaybe again!
I’d wear them after long runs for recovery, but they’re almost too pretty to not wear all the time!
I’d love to try them after cycling,
I like to run and bike without socks so having sleeves instead compression socks would be great. I would wear them during training runs and for recovery. I would also wear them during races, especially multisport races since I tend to get calf cramps when transitioning from bike to the run in duathlons and triathlons. I’d love to try these out!
I’d wear them for runs and recovery!
The one thing I’ve found when speed walking or running is the ache I get in my calves. I’d definitely love to wear them while exercising 🙂
At work! (doesn’t anyone work?) I am walking and on my feet all day…
I would wear them while I am speeding along the Silver Comet Trail. Oh wait, that’s my fantasy … I am consistently passed by small children … that’s my reality!
I’d use them post-run for recovery. I recently switched to minimalist shoes for running and the compression sleeves would help with the little bit of calf soreness.
I would totally rock them on run’s and post run!!! these are on my chrismas list …maybe chrismas will come early 😉
That first pic is awesome! Would totally rock these for recovery/to look cool 😉
I would wear them to Pilates to show off to my instructor who is always commenting that my ankles and calves look swollen and why not sport the pink sleeves when I am at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer each year!
Hmmm. I’d have to try them out on a longer run and for recovery. They’d look snazzy for the race for the cure as well! Loving the pink!
I would definitely wear them during the run and after!! And hope against hope that they would help the horrible calf cramps that I suffer whenever I run, walk, bike, dance, wear heels, have any alcohol, sneeze… you get the point. 😉
this is so generous, Miz! Thanks! When I read your post about them earlier this week my interest was definitely piqued. I’ve had shin splints almost the entire time I’ve been a runner and after a way-too-long break for an injury that was evidently difficult to diagnose, I’m working up my running again and the shin splints are back. I would love to win this but I expect I will own a pair by the end of this year either way;)
I keep trying to run but no matter what I do I always end up with foot and leg pain and eventually I give up…until the next time I decide to start again. I would try them out for running & recovery.
Very interesting! I’d love to try them and love the Tornado’s spirit.
I would wear them while running, I’m prone to shin splints so I’d be curious to see if they would help prevent them.
Thanks!!
I would love these for after my RnR in November.
Thanks Miz!!
I would wear them as I train for my December half on the long runs!
I think these would be pretty nifty for recovery after a long bike ride.
Love the pic of your daughter. You make me smile.
I desperately want to run, but always have terrible shin pain – these would be great for during AND after =)
I would wear them for recovery and try them while running on the treadmill where I sometimes have leg pain during my runs.
As a new runner, I would definitely wear these training, racing, and for recovery!
Thanks so much for your generosity Miz.
I would love to try these after spinning class for recovery.
I think I am one of your few male readers, but I would love to check these out.
In black LOL
I’ve been wearing another brand while running and my legs get very warm (hot). I’d love to try these to see if I can get the same compression and support without melting in the heat!
I am terrified of needles and want a tattoo 🙂
I would love to have tattooed sleeves.
Does any brand make those?!
I dont think so. ANYONE?
A few years ago Harley Davidson Stores had them in stock. Might want to check and see if they still carry them. They pass the test. They look real!!
if i had a red or orange pair, i’d likely wear them all the time 🙂 lol. or just recovery from anything!
I would LOVE to win this! I definitely need these for recovery. I have some compression socks but they are old and kinda losing their compression. 🙁
I’d wear them mostly for recovery but I am pretty curious about how they’d work with running.
I’ve always wanted to try compression sleeves for running. And you make a fantastic sales pitch. If I don’t win the pink pair, I may just buy some for myself AND Tara.
I already have a pair of light pink sleeves, but I need a pair of the bright pink! I would definitely wear these while running and I might even wear them while playing ultimate frisbee.
Oooh, I would totally wear these post-run. And I suspect that I would run longer and earlier (… on weekends) so I could feel hardcore wearing these for recovery, all day long!
I would wear these after hiking- I am going mountain-climbing this month, and at 52 I need all the help I can get!
I would probably just wear them for fun. 🙂
Definitely during my runs. I want to see if they help.
During the runs, for recovery, and maybe even for fun.
OK – first – that pic of Tornado – OMG!!!!! 😀
I so want to try these! I do my running outside & inside along with some pretty fast HIIT & the old age calves are really feeling it even with stretching. I would use to run & do my other cardio stuff PLUS use for after to see how that helps too. AND since I do hard core weights, I would love to see how they help after that too! I KNOW! Sounds like I would be wearing them all day long! 😉
Thank you so much for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely wear them post-spinning and post-golf to fend off the ever present stiffness that sets in with aging bodies…..even athlete!
I’d wear them.
Plain ole wear them to feel hardcore 🙂
I’d wear them running.
I would rock (hopefully!) these sleeves after my first half marathon in 6 weeks -the Disney Wine and Dine! I’m squeezing in training between working full time, raising our two girls, and feeding our house of 2 kids 2 dogs 2 parents and 2 grandparents. So, hopefully, the sleeves will help me get right back to those important things with no pain!
I love your reviews Miz.
You like = I LIKE!
Would love them for training & recovery for duathlon and my first marathon in the spring!! Pretty please???
I love that you tried these out even though you’re not a hardcore runner – I’ve been intrigued by compression sleeves for a long time (and the arms ones too!) but never tried them because I figured I don’t run enough to make them really worthwhile. But I like the idea of being “held”!
I would probably wear them for recovery and around the house. I am thinking they would be too hot right now for my runs! Who knows though!
I’ve been looking for a pair for my son with Sensory Integration issues. He wants to wear a jacket when it is 105 out. He needs a virtual “hug” all the time to feel the most comfortable in his own skin. I’d give my pair to him with a mommy hug!
I would use them during. I read somewhere that it helps with the blood flow to the muscles during the runs. I am training for my first marathon… I’m hoping these are magic and will help me make up for some lost practice runs. Oktoberfest in Leavenworth, Wa. is coming up fast… eek!
Would probably share them with my teenage daughter, who is always recovering from PE or Dance! They look cool!
As I sit at my desk today, praying that my calf muscles don’t decide to explode out of the back of my legs to find relief from the intense pain they are in I realize I would use the Zensah sleeves to retain the ability to walk after hitting my calves entirely too hard yesterday….
Oh the pain, the sweet, sweet pain.
i would use them while running and for recovery! my hubby has some compression sleeves and loves them – i’m jealous! i love the pink!
I actually was talking with a sports medicine doctor the other day and she said they really dont help while running because our bodies do that ourselves when we are running, interesting! Its afterwards where we have the biggest issue but than again who knows, everyone is different right!
anyway I would try them after!
I’d use them while running in cooler weather, and I think they’d be great for recovery also!
Everywhere!
i’d probably strut them with my rebel boots and hippie skirt out in public first, then whip off my skirt to find my compression shorts and slip on my running shoes and wear them running too! cool thing…zensah is semisortakinda local to me!
I’d wear them running. I have to test this breathe factor of which you speak. I’m in AZ and sweat just drips down my shins after a run. At 5 am. Where is fall?
I would love these.
I can’t believe you are paying for them though. Pass.
Splurge for yourself!!!
I would try them out as I’m preparing to do my first marathon – both during training and afterwards. Heck they way you described them I might want to wear them every day!
I would use them for recovery… I think, (not a runner yet, still working on it)
~RustiAnn
I would use them for recovery not only from running but from all the other crazy things I am trying as I work on my training to be a better runner and golfer!
could i just say i’ll use it as a fashion statement?? 🙂 would totally use it for recovery!!
I wonder how these compare to the compression stockings you get from the doctor for things such as Milroy disease and lymphatic issues. Would sure be nice to have a fun color instead of the drab ole tan.
I tend to get shin splints often, so I’d wear them for both running and recovery!
Ive been reading up on compression lately and would LOVE to try a pair. Im not sure if Id wear them during a race of after a race. Maybe BOTH!> thanks for the chance to win!
I would definitely use these for runs (especially out in the cold)! I’m working on collecting cold weather gear this year so I’m not such a wuss about running outside!
I would wear them during runs and for recovery. Just getting started as a runner and these would be a lovely incentive to keep going!
i don’t usually run outside (i’m a treadmill girl!), so whenever i do, i enjoy the change of pace, but hate the super-sore calves that i’m left with. i think these would be perfect to remedy that. 🙂
Teaching! Not only could I wear these during a workout and post-workout, I would wear these under my work pants and make myself feel like “Super-Teacher”. I think these would be perfect considering I stand all day and walk up and down my classroom countless times!
I just got compression socks, but I haven’t tried them for running. I like the idea of the sleeves too, especially for long runs. My middle age legs could use all the help they can get. 🙂
I just started using compression socks and I love how they make my legs feel after my long runs. I love the idea of just the sleeves, though, since the socks squeeze my tootsies.
So, short comment long, I would use them post-run, LOL.
I would definitely use them for recovery. I have problems with tight calves that I must religiously foam roll! They would be a great addition to my recovery routine!
I would use them during recovery after doing trigger point after my runs
I would definately wear them for recovery for two things: teaching/coaching PE all day and then kettlebelling-which I’m training for a competition right now. My first one 🙂
I would LOVE to have a pair of these. I had such a hard time with shin splints a few weeks ago, I had to stop running. I was fine for a month of walking and running, but when I amped it up to get more out of it, the pain stopped me half way through to where I almost had to call my husband to pick me up a mile from home, but I surged ahead and made it home, only to lie on the floor and cry in pain. This was about 3 weeks ago. I haven’t run since and even doing jumping jacks causes pain. I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t NOT work out, I love it WAY too much and the fact that I’m down almost 80 lbs in 6 months tells me that there’s NO POSSIBILITY of stopping now.
Seeing as how I’m quite badass-y and misfit-y these days (you know P90X will do that for you) I’ve often wondered what these compression thingy’s actually do for you??
Maybe wearing them post run/post kick boxing/post ass kicking day at the deli might top the list of how I would use these lovely looking/sounding sleeve-y things. 🙂
I’d definitely wear them for recovery which would include wearing
them about town too! I might try them for running too!
I’d wear mine post-run and, depending on whether I like they way they feel, I might be caught wearing them around town, too!
I am overly excited about this giveaway – I would use these all the time! I’ve been training for my first half marathon and I’m also a ballet dancer, so my legs take a huge, incessant beating from all the activity. I’d use them while running, and after working out…pretty much all the time! Love the color, too!
These were a hot topic of conversation at Friday’s spin class. I’m intrigued to try them out!! Deanna U
I’d wear them for recovery as I probably will need all the assistance I can get after taking 3 weeks off from training after an injury! The bright color will be a pick-me-up after feeling like I’m starting from scratch because I will be!
I’m not a runner but I think I would enjoy these post workout.
I want them!!!
I would wear them during my 13-hour doggy daycare work shifts. I tend to leave those workdays quite sore and beat-up, and even a bit of relief would be welcome!
Also, just at random times to feel like a badass. This weekend my husband told me I have a superhero butt. I need the wardrobe to match!
