and I like it.
For those of you playing along at home I AM still in the mode of saying ‘no thank you‘ to most offers for product reviews.
As a reader it isnt what I like to typically see on blogs (Im nosy. I want your thoughts, feelings and navel-gazings) and I always assume you’re precisely as I am.
So Ive decided to say no to reviews.
Until I change my mind…as every misfit reserves the right to.
I opened the email from Blake Brody on a day where my back throbbed, my allergies raged and quite frankly I wanted nothing more than a surprise in the mail I didnt have to pay for.
And the fact said surprise would be something Id HAVE to wear to yoga in order to review (hello free motivation!!) was more than a little bonus.
You see, the Blake Brody shoes have no SOLE:

Oh. Did I mention I was a SUCKER for the HEART?
They are designed to be worn DURING yoga and, since they have no bottom beyond the gripper, misfits like I cant get em, wear em around, & never use em for yoga (greetings 99.9% of my running shoes).
The grips offer traction, ENHANCE our feets sense of the ground & allow for complete pointing and flexing freedom.
The arch of the sole-free shoe is designed based on foot mapping and helps protect against cramping while NOT hindering movement.
And did I mention I was smitten with how they looked and felt?
They were like a pretty foot-glove covered in hearts.

The Tornado as foot model. When did she get so big?!
While I loved the look & feel of the Blake Brody studio shoes my hesitation was two-fold:
- Would wearing them practically announce to the class I was NOT a yogi?
- Would wearing them to class inhibit my ability to feel GROUNDED? The feeling I most seek from yoga…
My answers were NO and NO.
I should know myself better than to think I would care what other people thought (*cough* misfit *cough*). I brought the shoes. I slipped em on. No one said a word (till after class when a few women asked where Id gotten them).
I also found they did NOT inhibit my ability to feel as though yoga was grounding me. I didnt feel the sense of having ‘shoes on’ and more than anything wasnt distracted by the studio shoes either.**
I adored them.
What didn’t I love?
My first inclination was to say the price (they arent cheap) yet the fact Ive perused the online boutique over and over and DROOLED is an indication —at least for me—-they’re not too overpriced.
Are they necessary?
Heck no. That said, Im all in for anything which helps me look forward to yoga in a way I dont normally. Some of you may not need props and prod’ings—-I do. Im not there yet.
Would I recommend them?
I really would. They’d make a fantastic gift —-to a woman in your life or to me to yourself.
**I havent done hot yoga in the studio shoes yet. Im a sweater. I wonder if I shall drown my poor lovely heart topped shoes during the 90 minutes of poses? Ill keep you posted. The shoes are treated with anti-microbial & anti-odor so there’s that BIG saving grace…
FTC the shoes were free and a kindasorta early birthday present to me! The yammerings of love, allergies and back owies are all my own.
Super cute shoes!
I can’t imagine doing yoga with them on.
It didn’t feel constricting?
IM NO YOGI and I do yoga to ground myself. I really did think I’d miss that with the shoes on—-but I didnt at all
oh no way!! i think i’d try them out, you know me, i’ll try anything! plus they look comfy. Not gonna wear them to hot yoga though.. stinky feet?
I, too, need to know you could still feel at one with the ground.
I know you say they aren’t necessary, but they’re lovely!!
I hate having dirty feet- weird OCD thing?!? So I woukd be all about wearing shoes to yoga! 🙂
I KNOW. perfect for when the mat is borrowed, too 🙂
Very cute shoes. Too bad they can’t be worn around. I don”t think I’d wear them to yoga though. I have a pair of very cute toesox which I also don’t wear to yoga.
I agree. I wonder if we could makew a sole? 😉
I’ve seen these and thought they had a thin sole so I could wear to yoga from my house.
I like them, but outside of yoga I’d have no use.
I like them though so I still want.
Those shoes look interesting. I often wonder what other people will think if I do something out of the ordinary in my own workout classes. But I have to remember that I must do what’s best for me, my body, my health. And, most people don’t even realize if you’re doing (or wearing) something different than usual.
I need these pair for my yoga, hope I can find in out local store.
Those are adorable! Heart & (no) Sole 😉
Christmas list time!
Miz, I love the look of these shoes and they look SO comfortable (and pretty!).
Deb
Um… HELLO cute shoes. Those are awesome. I need some. Maybe they’d motivate me to step inside a yoga studio. 🙂 My feet sweat like crazy!!!!! 🙂 I have mixed feelings about reviews on blogs. I like getting free products sent to me, but sometiems it’s more of a hassle to write about it especially when I’m not that big of a fan. Ha. I need to start saying no more often I think. Happy Saturday!
Damn. They have a cute online boutique too.
I’ve been looking at this yoga footwear. http://www.yogapaws.com/shop/. Yours remind me of these but there is even less “shoe” part on the top and back.
I’m probably in the minority, but I love reading online reviews. Not necessarily as part of my daily readings, but I like being able to find them when I am searching out a specific product. I almost always read reviews before I buy anything. And those shoes are adorable.
I love reviews too. I wouldn’t have found these otherwise!LOL
They are so cute…which would make me wear them to yoga. Going to pop around on the site!
Very cute. My birthday is August. Already told the husband I want these 🙂
Thanks Miz.
Super cute!
Must admit my first inclination would be to pass. Then I remember I do yoga in a big box gym with filthy floors. Maybe these would make the yoga seem less icky?
(now thinking I should probably wash my yoga mat really well…)
Yoga is about spreading your toes during poses and balances. How can one DO that if you are wearing slippers to class? Kinda like the water aerobic ladies wearing their shoes to do nothing in the pool.
My instructor looks at our feet and toes a LOT during class. Any good instructor does. She would ask people wearing these to shed them.
OH SO CUTE!!!! I would not care what the yoga peeps thought! 😉 I wish I could wear stuff like this – my feet are just too wide plus also with my fat pads on the feet prob – well, you know the story! 😉
Oooh, these might just be the answer to my myriad foot issues. I hate baring my itchy, scaly left foot in class and now that I have a toenail about to come off, something other than a bandaid holding it on would be great!
I know, too much gross foot info for Saturday morning.
Thanks for accepting this review (for all of us too!)
MIZ! These are awesome.
I want a pair now too.
Those are so cute!!!! They look completely comfy too which I am all about!!! I have dancers feet so it is so hard to find shoes that fit me well! These might just do it! Thanks for the review 🙂
Is it weird that I read the “no sole” schpiel, out loud, in my best south park character voice? [which is sub par, yet hilarious]
I’m also a brutally honest reviewer [reviewee? whatev!] so I say no to 99% of the emails. Especially when they don’t know my name!
Do you think they help with grip at all?? My mom is a big yogi and I wonder if she would like these as a gift!
I like them! Anything to help me feel cute when in a group class I am all in favor of. I also get really weird about having bare feet in the studio so this might help with that, not mention if they do help with the sweat I’d be in need of them. At times I almost slip off my mat, getting sweaty feet just from normal yoga!
Oh those are adorable shoes. I’d wear them all of the time because I love shoes with no support. Great, honest review.
I truly enjoyed reading this.
Do you feel the multi-part sole when your wearing them?
I didn’t feel it or notice it at all!
Oh sooo cute! I want me a pair! I hope they work in Hot Yoga! Looking forward to hearing what your experience is like in the hot room 🙂
I think I would enjoy a better grip of my foot and perhaps not slipping at times when striking a pose! #VOGUE 😉
I’m not a yoga person but those shoes are way cute!
Those are super cute shoes! I think Santa may need to bring those… add them to my list of items I keep adding to. 🙂
I don’t know if I could do yoga with shoes on! I need my toes to grip! That said, I’ve never tried yoga with shoes on so I suppose I shouldn’t knock it till I’ve tried it. They are super cute though!
Thank you for this! I want these now 🙂
