Lately I’ve thought a lot about not allowing fear to hold me back.
About disempowering the emotion and NOT letting it place my excitement on P-A-U-S-E.
And then Charlie Gilkey invited me to be a guest on his Creative Giants podcast.
I was honored.
I was excited.
I was paralyzed by the fact Seth Godin & Chris Brogan had been podcast guests, too.
I immediately said yes (hello gift horse! I’m not looking you in the mouth.) and, after I hit send on my email, clicked over to reread Charlie’s definition of Creative Giant.
Creative Giants are naturally compassionate, creative people who have the vision to see how the world might be, the courage to take action, and the capability to actually change the world.
Naturally compassionate? OK, I can be that.
Creative? Yep yep. Ive got the myriad unsuccessful (but creative!) endeavors behind me to back that one up as well.
Courage to act? Yes! See above. I acted. The endeavors didn’t rock. I didn’t dwell— I acted again!
Capability to change the world? Alone? Definitely not. Yet I know, together, we can do absolutely anything. Together we are so much more than the sum of our parts.
And I leaped.
And we recorded.
And it was fantastically energizing and fun.
And I remembered how sometimes fear, AKA nervoucitment, is what prompts us to take risks and see what happens.
You can listen to the “what happened” here.

July 15, 2015 at 8:10 amIs it the introvert in you who thinks you can’t change the world? I agree that it takes us all together to change the world but it sometimes takes 1 person to connect the parts to make the synergy that changes the world. Or, you can think of it as for each person you affect, you change the world for that one person!
That’s how it is at our martial arts school. People tell us constantly about how their world is affected by attending our school and we go home in awe of how we affect each other’s world!

July 15, 2015 at 9:22 amThat’s great, Carla!! Fear is the mind-killer is my favorite mantra. I do like to stay out of situations where I might need it, however.
If anyone is curious they used to evaluate a horses age and health by looking at the condition of their mouths, mostly their teeth, lol

July 21, 2015 at 6:24 pmI am! Is powerful in itself. We all got what it take to be a creative giant. Myself I had overcome being bullied, the street-life, jail/prison and homeless. This made me mentally stronger and wiser. Now! I’m turning my adversities into opportunities.
