Because really what says VEGAS more than TUTUS?
By the time you read this Ill be happily on a plane, snuggled with my Kindle, and heading toward Las Vegas.
I could do an entire series of posts about how much I adore flying.
The abdication of control. The navigation resting on someone elses shoulders. The slice of (relative) silence in an otherwise harried world. The fact Ive been married to a reluctant flier for 15 years and STILL dont understand said reluctantnessment.
Love. Love. Love.
Which leads me to my fabulous (or at least bullet’ed for your reading pleasure) four on a friday.
- Today I may
be obsessively practicing my talkbe less laid back than on other flights as Im heading to Vegas to do a presentation. For a brand (read: to grown-ups). About harnessing the power of Twitter (specifically) & social media (in general). Im excited. Im ready. Im not donning the tutu till Im finished (for those of you, like Ren Man, who were worried) and I plan to phone-blog any and all adventures.
- After this brief trip Im homebound until I head off to Los Angeles & Blog World/New Media Expo. Im speaking on the subject of Finding a Better Fit. My panel will focus on transitioning passions (blogging and fitness) into business partnerships with brands & how to each manage blogging/social media engagement to translate personal brands into viable business opportunities. (translation: My co-panelists Kelly, Andrea, Leah & Steph are amazing, savvy women. I plan to listen & take notes as well as speak)
- Im still *drinking like a mad woman.* Thanks to Kate‘s generousity Im no longer tracking my water consumption using old rubberbands. She sent The Tornado & me bangles (!) so we can look pretty while we track
and kick Roni Noone’s arse.
And ever the misfit (where on earth she gets it from I have no idea!!!) the Tornado insisted on wearing both sets around the house for a while FLEXING and attempting to shatter then with her emerging bicep muscles:
- Hmmm I guess thats really it. Duly noted I only had three—but am unflaggingly smitten with alliteration.
So that’s where I am on this friday:
Flying, not tutu wearing (yet!), hydrating, & excited to head to LA soon.
And you?
What shall I do with my free time in Vegas? (it has been so so long since Ive been there!) Got any tips for me?
Are you still Brita challenging? Did you procure you some bangles or rubberbands as well?
Are you heading to Blog World Expo? Attending VIRTUALLY?
Do you live in LA? Shall we meet up and frolic while Im there?

October 14, 2011 at 5:35 amI look forward to reading on airplanes. The whole idea of flying through the air freaks me out if I think too much about it. Guess I should take that Physics lesson again.

October 14, 2011 at 6:13 amHave a great trip! I hate flying as much as Ren Man, but have some coming up…wish I could borrow your brain!
That’s so cool that you’re doing all these conferences. Wish I could hear you in L.A. I’ll actually be in LA too those dates, but will be busy hearing fascinating presentations from the Dole people on things like mushroom powder. But will gladly pimp myself to the pineapple people for a stay at the 4 Seasons and a free massage. What can I say, I’m a blogger of easy virtue.
Have a blast and keep us posted!

October 14, 2011 at 6:46 amI am terrified of flying. I usually spend the entire time praying, just to keep the mental images of the plane bursting into flames at bay.
But…
I don’t let my fear of flying keep me from having adventures. We are flying to Mexico in 7 weeks after all.
🙂
Enjoy Vegas. It’s a fun and very MizFit kind of place.

P.S. Take 20 bucks and hit the dollar slots – hey, you never know – that’s how I hit $500 last year! 🙂 Good luck.

October 14, 2011 at 9:51 amI love the bracelet idea too … what a fun way to track how much water you’re drinking. That’s MUCH more interesting than just writing it down in some chart.
And what an adorable photo!

October 14, 2011 at 12:49 pmDarn timing – I’ll be in LA NEXT week! So… how do you handle that hydration vs. flying dilemma. I hate having to use those tiny, dirty bathrooms and tend to not drink when I travel:(

October 14, 2011 at 12:54 pmWow Carla – great subjects to be speaking about & I wish I had the dollars to hear you in LA! BUT since you will be close – well, that is a relative term here due to traffic & a 1 hour ride is actually 2-3! 😉 Anyhoo, I am sure your schedule will be packed but let me know if there is any time you have & would love to meet you!
Now, that Tornado is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for Vegas, not my fav place due to smoking & gambling & stuff BUT it is “interesting” & there are some great shows there! I would love to see Terry Fator who won America’s Got Talent a few years back & is great! http://www.mirage.com/entertainment/terry-fator.aspx
Good luck on Vegas but I know you will rock it!!!!

October 14, 2011 at 1:17 pmHave fun in Vegas! I LOVE VEGAS!!!
I traveled to Texas twice this month and with those two trips I realized something that I really liked: it was NICE being unplugged on the plane. Having an iPhone I am always connected and sometimes it’s addicting. But not having access to it for several hours on the plane made me feel refreshed and better. And even better–our first trip was on a dude ranch with no WiFi or internet. A whole weekend without Twitter and FB? It was AWESOME. 🙂

October 14, 2011 at 2:34 pmHave a great time! I love Las Vegas! I could give you a list of cool bars or bartenders but I’m pretty sure that’s not really your thing, hehe (so not a role model I am). Go see a show (any – the good ones are breathtaking, the bad ones are cheesyfun), hit a (good) seafood buffet like the Mandalay Bay one, and make sure to gamble just a little (you can be amused on 20 bucks if you pick the right machines)!
I tolerate (but don’t love) flying for those same reason – I’m stuck in that little space, and I would really like to help the pilot fly. However, to get to cool places, ya gotta deal with it so I do (although it’s probably why I’ve never been overseas, the idea of upwards of a day on planes and in airports sounds excruciating to me).

October 14, 2011 at 5:26 pmyes, yes, failing miserably at the BRITA challenge. So no need for bangles here. Enjoy Vegas and being unplugged for a few short hours. I haven’t been to Vegas in years. So what’s changed?
