I have a princess.
Since she was tiny she’s longed for her tomboy mama to be more…princess’y too.
LONGED.
She’s a seven year old who still adores all things Disney and pink.
Her smittenessment (technical term) began when she was a toddler:
And we humored her:
Even when we werent really feeling itΒ (YES. I am in the role of the witch…):
Not surprisingly, she also loves all things PRINCES.Β If by PRINCES you mean her DADDY–which we do:
I let her borrow him–although really he’s MY prince:
And, while Im not princessSMITTEN, I LOVE me a tutu or twotwo.
A lot.
All of theseΒ PINKrambles as lead up to say how sad we’ve been the Tornado hath never seen DISNEY. Β
World or Land.
And yet that’s still only reason number 349 Im honored & EXCITED to be selected as a 2013 Disney Social Media Mom.
She’s finally getting to go (shhhh! as she has no idea yet) & Im getting *personal* with Rene Syler about it over at Good Enough Mother.

April 19, 2013 at 10:33 amcongrats!!! What a bonus for the tornado. 7 is the perfect age for disney. Key to a Disney vacation is to have zero expectations. Have fun, roll with what rides are doable, and soak it all up. Standing in line for characters she loves is worth it. Standing in line for 75 minutes for a ride is, IMO, not worth it. You’re a roll with it family, so you’ll have a wonderful time.
I wore my first tutu this year at the Disney Princess Half Marathon at WDW. I did 13.1 miles in that thing, and it wasn’t as distracting as I thought it would be. It was FUN to dress the part of princess (we wore tiaras all weekend). A sea of tutus in that race. And lots of princes, too–the guys are my favorite. Frogs, princes, Mad Hatter. Lots of men supporting their wive/girlfriends with t-shirts that say silly things like “She’s my queen” or “I’m her prince.” I’m doing it again next year and can’t wait. Disney does races right.
Shelley B says
April 19, 2013 at 10:45 amCongrats – you guys will have a blast! But now that you’re living in Cali, it’s easy to zip on down to Disneyland for a couple days…we went on Christmas Eve one time and it was awesome – no lines. Of course, this was nearly 30 years ago so people may have caught on by now, but hey – try it! π
Mary Slagel says
April 19, 2013 at 10:56 amCongratulations! That is awesome. She is going to be so excited. You and your family are absolutely adorable. Don’t ever let her stop loving princesses π I have friends to this day that are still obsessed with Disney and yes, they are a bit older, but I don’t think anybody will ever be too old for princesses or a tutu.

April 19, 2013 at 8:18 pmSo so awesome! She is going to love it. Kev and I adore Disney and can’t wait to get back. Hopefully we’ll see Mickey in July. We have another 4-5 years before we can take our granddaughter (she just turned 1 lol) but we talk about it all the time.
And we can’t wait to visit Disneyland sometime soon!
Congrats on the great opportunity.
Deborah says
April 19, 2013 at 10:06 pmMy niece (who’s now 16!) still LOVES Disneyland (and all things Disney). She and her folks have been 4 or 5 times AND she and her mum went to Tokyo Disney in January. In fact they’ve just bought a time-share place in one of the Disneys in the US and are planning their next trip for December.
Emily’s desperate to work there once she finishes school here in Oz. Apparently they have some Internship program she’s going to apply for. (She’s a good student, ballet dancer and pageant regular, so I’m sure she’ll be a shoe-in.)
PS. I don’t get the Disney thing.

It will mean even more to her that you are doing this since you are not your typical girly girl princessy mum! GO YOU!

April 22, 2013 at 4:42 amHow cool is that?! Your daughter is so after my own heart! I love princesses and everything Disney. So much so that my husband proposed to me in front of cinderellas castle underneath the fireworks. (The only way it should ever be done in my opinion) π
