Mother/daughter New Balance shoes?!

Ill admit I opened mine first...

Loving the RAINBOW

Words do not do justice how EXCITED I was at the opportunity to try out the New Balance’s 890v3 Kids sneakers.

(yep.  mine are a kids.  I wear a size 7.5 womens. The kids ROCKED comfort and fit-wise)

Bright, comfy, New Balance **and** a pair to match the Tornado? It was my misfitDREAM.

When my boyfriend dropped them off, I totally planned to wait until the Tornado got home to open them both.

And then I caved and ripped into mine.

I totally planned to leave her box UNTOUCHED—who doesnt wanna open her own box!?–-but I caved & opened hers as well.

I needed to see the cuteness contained within side-by-side with mine.

It did not disappoint.

It did not disappoint.

So I decided to WAIT to try mine on until she came home from school, (re)opened hers and we could yank on together.

I caved. I caved.

I caved. I caved.

I wore them around the domicile (I skipped! I lunged! I PLAYEDout by myself!).

I donned them for school pick-up.

When the child emerged from school the FIRST thing she noticed were my new shoes:

She had no idea there was a pair waiting at home for her.

And, as Id hoped, she lost her everylovingsevenyearoldMIND when she spied them:

She immediately announced we MUST head outside and run (“They feel like AIR, Mama. Like clouds on my feet!!”).

Since then we’ve been wearing the New Balance Rainbow 890v3 non-stop.

What did we enjoy about the Rainbow 890v3?

  • Everything.  We love the look.  We love the feel.  We love the fit.  I love she wanted to match me as I know these days are fleeting.
  • The fit. (Her) I adore my child, but the fact it’s nearly impossible to please her when it comes to sneakers makes me crazy.  She’s so finicky when it comes to fit (?) and not in any patterned, discernible, understandable way.  Shes the child who LOVES!! sneakers in the store and then refuses to ever wear them because they “dont feel so right.”  She adored the fit of these.  She chooses to wear them of her own accord.  I was shocked.  I was happy.
  • The fit. (Me.)  Im less finicky, but Im also used to only wearing my Five Fingers.  I was uncertain how Id feel in a more substantial shoe or if these would be shoes Id wear on non-matching days.  They are. I do. I LOVE.

What didnt we enjoy about the Rainbows?

  • Quite frankly nothing.  She loved. I loved. Our feet loved.  It has been a win win win.  So much so we’ve toted them along on our mini-vacation and told the Husband it was because HE didnt have a pair he HAD to stay home and work.

FTC? The sneakers were free.  My opinions and the fact the child asserted they “FELT LIKE CLOUDS ON MY FEET” be all our own.

  5. I absolutely love your daughter’s description of the shoes “clouds” on her feet. That is a big compliment from a child. The colors on the shoes are so cheerful looking!

  6. Yes and I have my own pair of over the top neon greatness. I do love these as well and I think I will get some frilly socks to match.

    I’ve never tried New Balance but that might have to change!

  34. I love that your feet are small enough to fit in kid’s shoes! My daughter is similarly picky; not just about shoes, but other clothes too. So frustrating to buy things and then have them sit in the closet without being worn…

    I would so wear these shoes! All of my favourite colours in one place! Very ‘spring’!

  35. I love the 890s! I did not know there was a rainbow kid version because we don’t sell them BUT I wear a size 6 women’s…so I can certainly nab a pair of these beautiful things!!

    I want to be as cool of a mom as you when I grow up. 😉

    • not in front of them right now but I’m pretty sure they are a boys SIX. I can check when home 🙂

  45. Those look awesome! Sad to say you’re right about the years when she wants to match you are fleeting so take advantage! I’m definitely into the bright-color trend when it comes to fitness gear. My running shoes right now have bright pink laces that I love! Those sneakers look like a little girls dream no wonder she loves them.

  46. Ahhhh, the new balances. I coveted them about a year ago, went to try them on, and they hurt my feet. I could probably wear them as an everyday shoe, but I hesitated to spend my running shoe fund on something I wouldn’t really run in. I still LOVE LOVE LOVE the look though!

  47. They are very Punky Brewster, very cute. And to be matching is so cute. My girls are teenagers now, and they don’t want to match mom. 🙁 Enjoy it now. (though, I believe they will come around again.)

  66. I am not a huge neon fan until it comes to workout gear, I have the Nike Frees in 3 different neon colors! These shoes look awesome I’ll have to try them out, and its good to know that you could fit into a child sized shoe too! I’m a 6.5 shoe and buying a large child’s shoe would definitely help cut the cost of adult sneakers!

  68. Trainers are usually boring to look at, but these are fab. They would brighten up a dull day and they also match your tattoo.
